I'm getting swap magic discs, and changing the casing on my ps2 so that it will have a flip top, so I just insert swap disc, boot up the ps2, then open the flip top and swap it with my import/burned game.

I was hoping it would arrive on friday, as I chose the fastest and most expensive delivery method, but I have to wait til after the weekend

finally finished the game and got a chance to read this thread. Balthier definitely my favorite overall and glad to refresh my memory reading all this. Anyway, wasn't the exact line something like:

"Vaan, if anything happens to me, I want you to take the Strahl."
"Why?"
"I'm the leading man, I might have to do something heroic..."

I actually thought he's was going to die or disappear at the end of that segment since the boss there did end up being Cid. Thought he might have to sacrifice himself and take Cid with him, but glad it didn't turn out that way. Was also pretty glad at the way the game ended and Balthier's role at the end (and of course Fran's "supporting role" line).

qft lmao. Vaan = dumbass wannabe pirate who doesn't quite measure up. Balthier = everything a man should be, and what I wish I was ;p like the main character of an MMO should be. XD

I dunno tho, maybe the ending will convince me Vaan isn't as big of a pussy as I think he is. He won't be a Cloud or a Zidane though :/

While I agree that Balflear is badass incarnate, I also find that Vaan isn't nearly as bad as some people make him out to be. He seems to represent a personality that isn't uncommon to young men: He's overly energetic, idealistic, and immature. I don't quite see how he's a pussy though, I got the impression that he was instead foolhardy.

Voice is such a huge first impression. When Vaan first talked after I dropped my PS2 off with my brother, he just went "god not again.." referring to Tidus.

There weren't any lines at this point, but what about that art with Balthier toward the end of the credits, did he..? He did right? Everyone I've asked so far just replied with "..."

Ah, that might be it. All my experience with the game comes from the Japanese version, where his voice isn't that bad. Nowhere near as bad as Tidus though, at any rate.

And really, the worst part of the Japanese was the weird font they used which made some of the text hard to read.
