God I love the English Language

Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo.

    More obscurity:

"12 o'clock noon" and "12 o'clock midnight" are redundancies. Just say 'noon' or 'midnight.'

Do not say 'ATM machine.' Guess what that last M stands for?

A brake (noun) is what you use to stop your car.

Break is what happens to something that fails to work, or a stoppage.

i.e. Make sure you get the brakes in your car fixed on your lunch break, or they might break.

Also in French: "Si six scies scient six cyprès, six cents scies scient six cents cyprès." Which translates to: "If six saws saw six cypress trees, six hundred saws saw six hundred cypress trees."

In Malay lovers can say "Sayang, sayang, sayang sayang sayang. Sayang sayang sayang?", which translates to "Darling, I love you. Do you love me?". This is a true homophone as the same word is used for pronoun and verb. The person being asked can even reply "Sayang", or "Sayang sayang sayang", in return.

That's the worst one to me. It scares me that people just assume everything is as it sounds, has no one read the word "probably" on a piece of paper before?

LOL @ Axed! Was her name Shaunquetta by chance? Man I hate that. I live in North Carolina and I have a really, really horrible, deep, southern accent. For instance I dont put the letter "g" after any of my words. (i.e. fishin, racin, walkin etc..) I get called a hick alot by out of town clients and what not, but I do know how to speak and type properly lol.

Anyway, I have this guy I work with that says shit like "Screet" for Street, "Scraight" for Straight and he says "Urnyon" for Onion. It annoys me to no end seeing how he never shuts the fuck up, EVAR! He told us a story recently about how his boy got into an ant bed and how he had gotten bit while the ants were in his britches. He told us how he had to make his "Scrip" down to his undies to hose the ants off and what not. That is definitely a pet peeve of mine as well.

    Ughhh the agony!
