From long hours spent busting worms in K-Tunnel, I can say it does have an effect.Originally Posted by Ambir

If I had my pie wear off, nuke damage dropped off as resists also went up at that point.
I honestly think an INT vs INT (for Black) and MND vs MND (for White) check is somewhere in all offensive spells cast on a mob or player for determining full, partial, or no resists to a spell. I've sat there with Spikes up, Shocked a monster (MND down) and suddenly, he's sitting there getting more "The XXX is paralyzed" as a frozen statue. Goodness knows, it's plain as day with Slow, just harder to parse properly with anything else since it's not really as measurable.
Read the chart I posted. The RDM has to be about 40-50 MND higher than the target to be beating Hojo 2 with Slow 1. If an IT mob has a bit higher MND than the player than you probably need about +60 MND. Most RDM never used that much +MND, so overwriting with Hojo isn't a bad thing.Originally Posted by Swatt
Slow II will get the same result with about 60 less MND.
Your first problem is that you still use blms at kirin.Originally Posted by Genosync

My LS for eg. stands at around 22 people max. During sky events, we're lucky if we can get 1 full alliance for Kirin.
There is nothing wrong doing it the traditional way.
And yes, Etude > Ballad for Kirin. That's what we use anyway.
The first level of Slow II gains the equivalent of about 30MND (~6% extra slow). Does anyone have the exact numbers for Hojo? Everytime I see a figure it's different and I don't have a high enough NIN to test...Originally Posted by FFXIFlux
Edit: I'd actually question some of the numbers in your graph... The tests I've done seem to have shown 1st level Slow II to be a static ~6% more slow than Slow I at all levels of MND and with Slow II capping at ~36%.
Hojo:Ni is a static 18.5% slow. Slow II is stronger than Hojo:Ni at -43MND from the mob, an easily obtainable number.
some tests a friend and I did in ballista:

Not sure if it's entirely relevant to the question, but I hope it's useful
They're about the numbers I got from testing Slow I and L1 Slow II. I didn't guess that the L2 and L3 Slow II wouldn't follow the same pattern though, or that the hard Cap would hardly rise at all with additional merits, especially since it rose ~6% from Slow I to Slow II...Originally Posted by Zoot
We don't; just making general statements based on a mob that people actually kill occasionally (when the RMT aren't raping ullikummi).Originally Posted by Not Kuno
Just a random question, do Slow II Lv.2 or 3 overwrite Slow II Lv.1?

Is that also the cast for Pro(lol) and Shell 5?
pro and shell of equal levels always did overwrite each other, regardless of the source (same as haste and refresh). I think that a lesser level pro/shellV will overwrite a higher level one too though, which is silly :/
Ah right yeah, of course they do. Hadn't really woken up yet when I posted that, and thought it might sound clever. >.> I do remember casting pro and shell 2 on myself as BLM and seeing the "no effect" message if someone else had already done pro/shell3 or above on me.
Lower pro/shell does not overwrite a higher level pro/shell.Originally Posted by Delekii

That's what they meant...
New Question!
Do you feel Day of the week or weather effects magic accuracy the same way it effects damage.. Also similarly, since it effects damage (potency) of elemental magic, could it have an effect on potency of enfeebles?
Only one of those "effect" is actually the right use of the word, can you guess which oneOriginally Posted by Stellar

Well, it wouldn't be hard to test slow potency, but I'm pretty sure the answer would be no.Originally Posted by Stellar
Paralyze does seem to proc more on ice and less on fire, but thats probably wishful thinking. Today we did Siege Master Assassination 3 times, I never had Paralyze II proc once, so I switched to Paralyze I and it went off a few times. So my 10 or so casts of each test shows Paralyze I is better than Paralyze II.
