    STR and Accuracy Cap

Since I'm at work half the sites are blocked and I don't feel like waiting till I get home.

I can't remember, is there a point where after you have so much STR, it doesn't matter. Same for Accuracy.

I don't know why but I'm thinking Str was 55 and Accuracy was 35. But please, enlighten.

str cap on non-WS is when your fSTR hits 8+wrank. Varies from mob to mob, of course.

i'm no expert but as far as i'm concerned the effects of too much STR is that you lack the actual attack to put it to use. You have to find the balance in which your dmg is near it's cap and increased from the lower percentile of hits per range of damage to the higher end.

As for WS's, i've never seen a cap in STR, each new piece i've gotten added a little bit more, not much but more. There isn't neccesarily a cap on accuracy but if you wear like +50 accuracy and 0 DEX, you'd have worse accuracy than if you wore +40 accuracy and +10 DEX just cause the DEX pushes the overall cap of your accuracy up, along with your criticals as well. It's all about testing and balancing your equip.

Terms like "too much" and "enough" are all relative to the mob you're fighting. Harder the mob, the more accuracy you'll need to hit and the more STR you'll need to cap fSTR.

For STR, if you have a WS that has STR as a WSC modifier, there's never "enough" since you'll always get at least that much return out of adding more STR. For fSTR though, from what I've tested @120 total STR is enough to cap fSTR for most HNMs, or at the very least, reduce additional STR returns to only WSC increases.

But besides that, make sure you shore up Attack before you worry about adding that next 2 STR here or 3 STR there.

Generally speaking what's the amount of STR you want for XP mobs while TPing?

the biggest improvement i ever noticed damage wise on any job was when i got my drk jse pants. Str+4, att+14. Normally you stack accuracy cause with 2 handed weaps, can't afford to miss. Needless to say, dropping the accuracy in order to pick that up boosted my dmg just in normal attack rounds i'd say about 10-15 dmg for the simple fact that my DRK lacked +att gear besides the hauby, ada feet, forager's, bomb core, and assault earring. Wore like +25 Str and started converting some of that to att while tp'ing up seeing as how i read about the boosts. I never looked back since. It took me about 1 week before i figured out the best setups for what i was fighting (before toau was released). Vt-It's mostly

Can you be more specific on the job? Cause where War can equip a ton of STR, Mnk has little choice in the matter without sacrificing other equips.

The STR cap is reached when your str overwhelms the mob's vit so completely that you hit at the top of your attack curve every single round.

Not really. STR and Attack have different effects. STR, or what people refer to as fSTR, increases your WDMG. So with enough STR that 49 damage axe will hit like a 53DMG axe, and then be subject to pDIF for damage.

Chiz your 120 STR number works for Daggers and probably Katanas on most mobs, the cap will be a bit higher for any 2-handed user.

As Aurik stated, fSTR cap is 8+weapon rank. Weapon rank is DMG/9. So daggers have a weapon rank of 3-4, but scythes will be around 10. You need around 4 STR to increase the fSTR bonus for melee weapons and around 2 for ranged weapons.

So for something like daggers fSTR cap is 8+4 so +12. Which means that if you have enough STR Chiz' Mandau will hit like a 51DMG weapon. I'm not sure exactly where the fSTR bonus begins and if it's directly where STR = VIT or if there is something else there (I believe there is) but you'll need about 48 STR over the mobs vit. Just to note a lot of mobs' VIT scores are not rediculously high. I think a JP site determined Deco weapons to have 73-75 VIT? So if you go with that Chiz' Mandau will cap out in fSTR around 120.

But for other weapons like Scythe the fSTR cap is 8+10 so 18, which means 72 STR-ish over a mobs VIT, which is something like 150 STR. This is also a nice added bonus to Gkat, 75% STR mod on WS's and they pretty much can fully cap fSTR out too.

But also as stated, if STR is a ws mod it can never be capped, it'll always increase damage.

If I remember correctly at least for samurai, There is no real cap but yet a soft cap at around +60 STR. All that means is that after 60 you simply will just get diminishing returns. So in other words after 60 str you can focus more on attack and stuff in that sense.

This math stuff is too complicated for me.

'Hey Aurik is my monk gear ok? Would X be better than Y for me? Ok thanks!'

Thank God for friends who enjoy maths.

In regards to STR and accuracy. I've always been curious to the point to which STR gear was detrimental to weapon skills (in terms of accuracy lost). For instance with Samurai if going to a full STR setup means 80% accuracy, (vs 95% accuracy in TP gear) that's quite a bit of damage lost. Sadly enough I've seen far too many gekkos and kashas missed partying with SAMs than i care to admit.

Above quote pretty much covers it. You can find the experimentally-determined fSTR = f(dSTR, wRank) chart at studio ghobli.
    Or http://www.freewebs.com/vzx-01/fstr2.htm

Also, h2h wRank is determined in an odd way that is close but not exactly the same as normal wRank.

Generally speaking, you don't much care about STR while TPing. It's nice when it appears on other pieces of gear, but it's not essential
