PS3 Fails

Everyone in this topic is completely missing the point of the PS3 launch... Sony was practically giving out money. I could have made 3000 dollars for 3 days of sitting around doing nothing, but I underestimated the American public and went a day too late. Who really cares if it works well?

Zelda could be the only game for Wii ever released and I'd probably still get one. Thank goodness Mario and Metroid are coming too.

Yeah console players usually have OoT has the highest, PC players usually have the original Half Life. Both are really excellent if completely different.

Yea, Zelda is possibly the best exclusive launch title of any system ever (it almost couldn't be called exclusive but the Gamecube version got pushed back about a month), not to mention it's a friggin sweet game to being with, most systems don't start getting titles like this until a year or two after release. The downloadable games are pretty sweet also, they don't have anything to prove on playability and there will be 30ish to start and 10ish added per month. The whole rest of the launch could be meh and it wouldn't matter.

The PS3 itself does not suck. The price horribly HORRIBLY sucks, the games on it for now pretty much suck unless you like Resistance (as in $700-several thousand dollars like it), and even trying to get one sucks (lol at being shot while in line).

I'm actually kinda glad the launch titles were meh though, if I had to try and get one for a game I liked I'd be sad. I'm not going to take any risks with my Wii, I will be at Gamestop's midnight sale thing tommorrow AND if I don't get one there I'll be in line several hours early on Sunday. I must play Zelda, waiting is not an option this time.

Gamestop's press release said that the midnight sales for the Wii are only for preorders. People trying to get one who did not preorder supposedly have to wait until the morning. I have a preorder.. to be honest I am kind of worried about crazy people outside, I hope they have cops there.

I heard about this before, but more when talking about movies not games.

Soo... Most of the games which are being released for the PS3 are 720p resolution. If your set can't do 720p or 1080p, then the signal is downgraded to 480p instead of upscaled to 1080i. Not sure of all the specifics, but it seems like there will be people not getting HD out of the PS3 depending on the game and TV.

Sorry to break it to a lot of you guys, but most people I've talked to that do not follow videogames don't think the Wii is worth anything(I've even heard "The delay is too bad"... but thats pretty untrue), but are going crazy for the PS3. Funny, when I ask them what PS3 games they are really looking forward to, they never mention anything they can play for the next four months. I think a lot of people need to try the Wii to like it. A football game where you actually throw it... that is going to win big, but people need to try it first. It's getting better, but average people(I mean young consumers) are utterly ignorant on the subject and just make up what they like.

As far as genre defining yes you are right. But every single review is saying this makes OoT look like Pong (Exaggeration). So it might not be the most innovative game, but it is definitely the biggest launch game since.

It's called hype ;o. It may be the "best" game ever, but doesn't mean it is the biggest. And nothing will make OoT look like Pong. Twilight Princess best elements are probably right out of OoT.

That's typical hype, same thing with the PSP vs DS situation, and that didn't stop the DS from doing well (even though DS had a 5 month head start, it didn't have a game like Zelda for a launch title). Everyone wanted a PSP, and people got it it, and it passed the DS for a while (here in the states anyway). That's not so true anymore, although PSP didn't have very many nice games for a while.

With the Wii hype, most people I see like the controller for what it is, but when they get right down to it, it's all about the Zelda. People who want the PS3 want the system, but I'm still trying to figure out what they will do with the system for the next few months when they have it (apparently they are too). That's the weirdness of hype for ya, but what I'm fearing is where the PS3 will be when the hype wears off. There's also the whole "PS3 sells out but Nintendo actually sells more" thing that will prolly happen, just like on VGcats. Japan's PS3 launch was kind of a bummer too.

The Wii is basically uncharted waters like the DS, and once people figured the DS out, it got accepted, and *gasp* popular. I want to see where they take the Wiimote before I *approve* of it, but I am pretty excited about the sword fight on Twilight Princess, I admit. And besides, it's more affordable. 8)

All OoT was, was a 3d Link to the Past. I still think LTTP is a better game.

Mario 64 did. So it is easily the "biggest", or most important launch title to exist. It's influence on gaming has been never been rivaled.

On the other hand, both Halo 2 and Zelda:OoT(and TW) are good games in almost everybody's eyes. They both have good traits. Saying it's ignorant for someone to believe Zelda/Halo to be better than Zelda/Halo, then that's pretty ignorant in it's own right.

That was my best games of all time list, its based on average review score. 1.3% higher than the next highest game (Soul Caliber.)

I thought Halo was a lot better than 2, and thought LTTP was better than OoT. How good games are is 90% opinion and 10% the game not sucking.
