Anyone else pick up a copy of FF3(DS) today?

Swung by my Gamestop earlier and got home with a little time left before work to play through the very first part of the game and loved it. I played a translated rom of the NES game but aside from the obvious difference I haven't had time yet to see how much they changed up the story. Once my brother gets back home with my DS (and game) I'll get to play through more of it...

I'm planning on buying a DS and FF3 for myself with some extra Christmas money in the next few weeks. I'm a sucker for the job system... Is the job system in FF3 anything like FFT?

I didn't pick it up yet, however I plan to when I go out on Sunday to try and find a Wii. It has gotten very good reviews, and I always have heard how much of a great game 3 is (never played it...) so I'm excited!

I can't say how they've changed the job system yet in the DS version. Even though I got to the first crystal I didn't get new jobs for the main character unlike in the NES version. Jobs do have levels in this game though so it'll be interesting to see how they affect things.

And Lbelle, I'm thinking of saving this game for Sunday if I do end up camping at a store for a Wii. Gonna try and find a place with a large stock so that I don't have to restort to that though.

I can't wait to pick it up. Going to grab it after work tommorow...

I am interested to see how the story was modified.. I personally own a copy of the Famicom Cartrige.. which I played to death.

Shallow story and the job system sucks. ;\

Some extra stats and doing more hits from levelling jobs, that's it!

DRG and THF are stronger than everyone else, maybe except NIN OMGWTF.

FFV Advance has a better job system and story, just no eye candy.

I'm not exactly sure how one acquires job levels, there's nothing on the status screen with any indicator of how close you are or what you need to do, but I keep getting job LvUps nonetheless.

If you got cash to spare and never played it get FFV on the GBA which has just come out too, It's a far better game from how far i'm into 3. If you have to choose pick V.

Commands in battle, not sure how it exactly calculates, but I think 4 Counter for MNK gets it up a level. And 6-8 attacks. Mini helps, but it gets boring easily.

I got this yesterday and tried to play... but I fear FF12 ruined me... for a little while at least.

Was hard going back to turn based.

The reviews for it were not necessarily great, which has led me to some skepticism about it.
The cons to it were the following:
    1) Difficulty
This is not a con to me, I greatly love difficult RPGs since they are so scarce (FFIV for example)
    2) Save Points in Dungeons
This on the other hand does seem to be somewhat of a big deal. While hard RPGs are a good time, if you go through an hour long dungeon and the boss just owns you, that is very frustrating and can lead to not wanting to play by wasting an hour of your time. Any input on this from people who played?
    3) Penalty for switching jobs
This also kind of irks me, if a game is based on changing jobs why do you penalize for going from one job to another if you want to level something seperate? I can understand the strength being based on your level, but just a general penalty for switching jobs does not make much sense.
Any input on these issues from people who have played would be nice.

I've been playing GBA FF5 last few days. Is it just me or did they nerf the hell out of it? I remember playing it on emulator and it was not a pushover. Now, on my GBA cart, I just made everyone monk to lv2 where I get Barehand, then switch them to other jobs, sub martial arts, and just run around double-attacking and one-shotting things.

I just picked up FF3 today, along with 2 Wii games (Monkey Ball and Red Steel), I'll probably play it a bit today but mostly on saturday on my plane ride home, and camping for wii (if necessary).
