Hi, welcome to like 5 years ago (maybe more) when the civil trial ended.
Hi nice to meet you. I wasnt saying they didnt file and win their charge. I'm asking them why they would honestly think he would pay it when a.)he was found innocent. b.)theres loopholes and c.)he couldnt honestly give a fuck.

I'm not saying the family shouldnt be hurt, I just think its stupid for saying HAY U HURT MY FEELINGS N SINCE U CANT GO 2 JAILS I WANT ALL YOUR MONIES!

As if its going to make a difference...

i think its more symbolic, like another poster had said. its saying that OJ will not be able to profit off the deaths of their son and his ex-wife.

Criminal and civil are based on two different levels of evidence needed to be convicted for lack of a better word.

Criminal is no doubt at all, all you have to do is plant a little doubt in one juror's mind and wham, it's over. Civil you just have to have more evidence showing he did it than evidence he didn't.

Civil suit was more of a "We know you did it, you know you did it, and since your lawyer got you out of the criminal charge, we're going to punish you any way we have left that we can."

There's loopholes, but eventually he'll have to pay.

There was so much evidence in that criminal trial. It could have been prosecuted better by students still in law school.

I think it's more an issue of 'HAY YOU MURDERED MY SON AND GOT AWAY WITH IT SO I'M GOING TO HURT YOU IN EVERY WAY I CAN THINK OF.'

But I guess it's easy to miss that perspective when you don't give a shit about your own family members, amirite?

Um, since when dont i give a shit about my own family members? I even said a couple posts ago that i'd tell anyone to go fuck themselves if they wanted to kill my mom for any amount of money. And personally i think its retarded for them to sue him for something so materialistic like money, as if its going to bring back the lives of their loved ones.

The mans rich, so what if he loses out on a $33 million settlement, he's an ex NFL star receiving a decent amount of pension, and hes got his book and probably other decent ways of making money. He could care less about the families, so just leave him be.

Before you go and make assumptions about my morals, atleast learn to

Except that's the only way they can hurt him, legally. They can't murder him (probably) and they can't re-try him at criminal court. The only thing they can do is hound him financially because he is a murderer and got away with it. These families are out for vengeance, they could not care less about the money. The reason they ask for money is because it's the only currency the courts can deal with in this case anymore. The families want O.J. to suffer, as anyone would who saw someone who murdered their kin waltz away with a book deal and paid interviews.

Im not sure if I read an article or new report on TV, but OJ isnt as rich as you'd think. He isnt working, and the money that is coming in is going to his children and to keep himself going.

3.5 mil from interview alone would keep my kids, and my grandkids going for a lifetime.

I don't know about all this talk about OJ not having money. Every time he does some stupid interview for those trashy gossip shows, he's always playing golf. It would seem to me if I had a 33M debt, I wouldn't have time for manicured landscapes and friendly elbows with rich white men in Beverly Hills.

The goldmans won't be receiving a cent from OJ for the interview or the book.

The money will not be directly put into his holding. So they cant touch it legally.

It's kinda funny seeing him assfuck the system. XD

    Its such a shame =(

OJ was the man 20 years ago.

Then again, so was Michael Jackson.

But yeah, I can't picture him giving a fk about the money to the family. If you assume hes innocent, why would it be justice to him, and if you assume hes guilty, hes a cold-blooded killer and doesn't care anyway.

This whole idea is fucking brilliant, yet disgusting. Fine line there huh. Nothing bad can come out of it, you guys said it...He can't be charged for the same murder twice, he isn't going to be out anymore money because he's already been sued, and everyone already knows he did it. Why not make millions and millions of dollars telling the world how you did it. Its fucking genious. You know the dude is having money issues, didnt he sell his fucking heisman. He should have been hanged for that.

    and rightfully so
I agree that every dime should be going to the victims' families, but you have to believe that OJ knows a loophole to keep the money for himself or he wouldn't be doing this if there wasn't a monetary incentive.
A rich man like OJ didn't do this book to pay off the debt. I'm thinking offshore accounts, trust accounts for his kids, or an LLC is getting paid for the book, the check won't say OJ Simpson on it. He is dumb but he is not LA jury dumb.

Ironically, I have jury duty in LA next month.

    Well, there is always this

    http://cache.indemand.com/shared/prod/45130_l.jpg

O.J pulls pranks on people, and at the end of it he tells them they've been Juiced. I'd scream bloody murder if O.J. tried to Juice me. 2 people were juiced already and it didn't seem too appealing.

On a side note, one big reason he was acquitted was because of an uneducated jury. In my Government class they showed us a video of interviews with some of the jury. It looks like they just rounded them up out of the projects. One juror said the following

"Well the prosecutor said it was a DNA match and that there's only a 1 in 65 billion chance it was someone else's DNA. What does that mean, that they'd have to go to a different state to find someone with the same DNA as O.J.?"

The trial had many a DNA experts testifying for hours on end and most of the jurors couldn't follow or didn't understand what they were explaining.
