funny, same can be said about the cops, who made their own fucking rules when they tazed the student. being an asshole doesn't warrant being tazed. tazer is a weapon for neutralizing imminent threats or physical harm, not for noncompliance, and i just can't reconcile "imminent threat" with "a unarmed student on the floor cuffed and surrounded by multiple police officers".

not to mention, he was incapacitated and was physically unable to stand up after being tazed. (the tazer was on "stun" mode) of course he couldn't stand up as he was told no matter how much he tried. it's like i ask you to stop bleeding after i shot you, and if you do then i will shoot you again. the cops were more of an ass imho.

A taser in a particular situation may not be excessive force, but obviously, the student was not a threat while hadcuffed, the only thing debatable was necessity. I don't see where it's necessary to tase an unarmed handcuffed student with 4-5 officers present that can easily pick the student up and escort him out. The cops completely skipped the section between "non compliant" and "physical contact".

That's an opinon completely subjected by one instance from one video. According the the FBI's suggested force usage, the cops had to either feel he was a threat (obviously not), or that it was necessary. Whether or not it was necessary is opinionated, but i really dont see how you could deem it necessary tase a handcuffed unarmed student with 4 officers present.

    I'm watching it right now...

:35 drunk starts fighting w/ cop
    :45 off camera
1:00 cop pull out tazer gun
1:05 tazer #1 while drunk is walking to his car
1:12 tazer #2, drunk on ground
1:20 tazer #3, drunk trying to get back up instead of laying on ground as being told
1:30 tazer #4, drunk once again refuses to do what he's told
1:43 tazer #5, drunk once again refuses to lie down on his stomach
1:54 cop "put your hands behind your back or you're getting it again"
    1:56 drunk "I CANT"
2:10 drunk stops fighting, cop notices this and cuffs him.

CARE TO EXPLAIN WHERE THE FUCK HE WAS STILL FIGHTING WITH THE COP AFTER THE FIRST TAZING YOU RETARD

honestly, fucking idiots here. I bet both of you were ppl who smoked weed infront of a cop then wondered why you got your ass beat in by said cop.

Police officers are supposed to use tasers when the student became a threat to those around him. Can someone explain where he is endangering the lives of people around him? AFAIK, from all the articles and such, he was making his way out of the library when he was confronted by the officers. Obviously he was making his way out of the place and the police had no right to put their hands on him. Maybe the first taser shot to the student was justifiable but why couldn't the police just carry him out? After he was handcuffed, he didn't deserve to get tasered again. What happened to freedom of speech? That goes into effect until it endangers the freedoms of the people around them. He did not shout "I got a bomb mother-fuckers! Get off me." He was shouting out of anger after being fucking tasered for NOT HAVING A LIBRARY CARD! Whoever the fuck thinks he deserved all 5 taser shots is an idiot. Someone please enlighten me, as to why he deserved to be tasered? After he was on the ground handcuffed, what could he have done to endanger the police officers? They could of just picked him up, instead they abused their power, thinking they are the law, rather then enforcing it.

um....first of all, if someones strapped with a bomb, I DONT THINK ZAPPING THEM WITH 50k VOLTS IS THE BRIGHTEST IDEA...

having said that, he wasnt "on his way out the library". He realized he was in deeper shit than just 'forgetting his id'.

that is not only an extreme example, it's completely irrelevant. how does "an unarmed student cuffed on the floor surrounded by a bunch of cops in a library" have to do with or any bearing to "resemblance of a felon"? they are two completely different scenarios and should be responded with different measures. not having ID or refusing to present it doesn't mean he's a freaking rapist or murderer, and you can't react toward the student presuming as such. what's next? should we incarcerate all jake walkers as well? cause we don't want them on the loose and blow up stuff like terrorists do, right? you need to reread my post, tazer is for immient threat or physical harm, not for non-compliance. period.

so a drunk trying to get up is a threat, but a 20(I guess) year old sober person who is kicking and flailing around, trying to get up, shouting at people trying to get bystanders stirred up is not a threat??

    OK BUDDY.

A drunk who was just fighting the officer not just 1 minute ago is a threat...yes. Although everything you just said about the sober one in the library is an assumption. Flailing around? Yeah I guess getting tazered and the pain makes you "flail". I don't know about you but it seemed like to me, people were gathering because it was inane what they were doing

Everyone just quit with the library card deal. Kid was trespassing and refused to leave. Don't minimalize it by saying "police tazered him for not having ID" when you know that's not what happened. He resisted arrest and got tazered, and THAT is what happened.

And quit with the "he was already leaving" and "police had no right to touch him". WRONG! At this point he's going under arrest, and if you think police officers can't touch someone to effect an arrest then you're handicapped. He already had, and lost, his chance to leave; he's going to the police station now.
