No, I can control my temper. A police officer should be able to do the same. Doesn't seem that way in this case apparently.
its not a matter of temper. its a matter of putting some idiot who thinks he's protected in his place.

know your role and shut the hell up.

You ever tried to drag a grown man who is kicking and screaming through narrow hallways?

Wait till your kid gets 4 or so.. lol, its mucher harder when they weigh 200 pounds instead.
There was 4 of them if they can't lift 50 lbs each they need to work behind a desk.

    uh...you stupid ? lol

if something weighs 200 pounds, its 200 pounds. If something that weighs 200 pounds is being backed by momentum, of say...legs swinging around...its a lot more than 200 pounds.

Supposedly they tased him the first time after he went limp - the classic "dead weight look i'm really hard to arrest" move. The kicking and screaming, especially as evident in the video, was...um...cause they shot a ton of electricity through his body.

Edit: And NynJa, I think it's clear to most of us at some point they just tased him because he was pissing them off, not because they perceived him as a threat. Do you disagree, or do you just think they should be able to tase people who make them angry while in custody/to make them more compliant?

Criminals that don't shut the hell up get arrested on a daily basis. They sit in the car on their way to the station and continue to talk shit until they run out of energy. They don't have a rent a cop sit in the back seat continously tasing him until he's quiet.

You're right though he could have been more civil about it and shut the hell up. This is more or less a case of two wrongs don't make a right.

I'm just stating that 200 lbs is lighter on one person when there is 3 other people helping you. Unless the guy was on PCP there was no way he was going to fight off 4 officers.

And when that 200 pounds gets caught up in the doorway.. how are you going to get that person to stop kicking and catching on the doorway without.. hurting them?

I don't know exactly how strong a leg is.. but i can squat on one leg and jump from it.. so I can kick outwards with at least 135 pounds of force.. probably a lot more. I'd have to get some weights to test.

Hay Nynja even though I disagree with you, I think you'd make a excellent dirty cop, imagine all the drama.

Anyway, why is this still being argued? the guy acted out, the police(or was it rent a cops?) abused their power, they are gonna get sued. Does not matter what you think, those guys are still gonna get owned. Overzelous cops make great buttwives in prison.

Devek, that's all fine and good in theory, but do you really believe the police felt physically threatened by this idiot? If so, continue with your "but he could've really hurtinated them!" argument, but if not, just drop it.

Obviously tasing this guy, what, 4 times didn't keep him from kicking and screaming.

    Sums it up pretty well.

By the way, is the "make my body limp" thing actually resisting arrest? I'm not sure where the law is on that. I always thought it was the best way to resist arrest without being able to be charged with it - just do absolutely nothing.

Excellent point, except you're overlooking one very important detail:
He wasnt in the car, he was in a school library, god knows how far that is inrelation to where the car is parked.

Anyone that said the guy deserved it is a part of moron America that's responsible for shit like not being able to take chapstick on airplanes, supporting torture, and reduction of rights for better safety.

No one deserves to be tazed, shot or beaten if they resist police. It's not a fucking cops job to make that decision unless their or the publics lives or well-being was in immediate danger. A real police officer cannot taze you for resisting arrest. They put you to the ground and cuff you, then put you into a car.

That kid, who by the way was not in a public area but in a college he is paying for; had every right to resist. The campus cops should have gotten real police involved if they thought it was a safety issue for the students in the building.

Rights are rights. There is no justification to say he deserved to be tazed because he resisted police, that's fucking assanine and anyone that thinks that should be shot in the kneecaps and deported to North Korea. You keep agreeing that shit like this is ok, you'll realize it's not ok when someone you know gets tossed in jail and beaten because of ideals / race / lifestyle. That's not paranoia talking, that's how shit is in other parts of the world.

Of course every person that said the guy deserved it is white upper-middle class. It's not hard to point or figure that out. Take your spoiled asses elsewhere and observe the world for a bit before you start saying people shouldn't have rights before police.

TO SERVE AND PROTECT. We pay police salaries. End of story.

THEY HAD NO WAY TO DETERMINE HIM BEING A STUDENT SINCE HE DID NOT HAVE HIS STUDENT ID. HOW IS THAT SO DIFFICULT TO COMPREHEND ?!?

as for me being "spolied upperclass", I live in sub-middle class surrounded by orthodox jews, black people, asian people, and mid-east people. I'm not in a neighborhood where Mrs Soccer mom drives her 4 kids to school in their minivan and I drive my own 2002 car to school. I ride on public transportation.
So take your stereotypical bitch ass and get the fuck out of here.

This isn't a police state, bro. You think it's ok because it didn't happen to you, and you don't anticipate reacting the way he did, but that still doesn't give them the right to TORTURE SOMEONE PUBLICLY WHO SHOWED NO SIGNS OF THREATENING THE POLICE OR THE STUDENTS

No, they make you walk/take a cab to your destination. If you refuse to cooperate by attempting to drive off, then they take extreme measures, which is EXACTLY what happened here.

"OMG, I just got pulled over by the cops but I didnt have my drivers liscense on me. They told me to get out of my car and they were gonna tow it away, like seriously what the fuck. So basically, in your eyes.... anyone that expresses an opinion through speech or action that is not agreed upon by law enforcement officials, but not physically threatening to the police themselves or anyone around them - the police have the right to physically attack and torture said person as often and as forceful as necessary to complete their objective of removing the person off the premises?

Tasing people in handcuffs, hitting people with nightsticks in handcuffs, pepper spraying people IN HANDCUFFS...should only be done in situations where something really, really out of the ordinary is happening.

This is, clearly, and I don't think NynJa would argue with me here, one of those situations. The guy was being belligerent, mouthing off, flailing around, resisting arrest.

HE WAS STILL IN HANDCUFFS. Stop tasing him. It's stupid.

    uh, lol?

Law enforcement officials were going to either place him under arrest, or have a lil chat with him as to why he did not have his ID and refused to leave when asked to. Instead of cooperating, he made a scene.

You're grasping from left right and center to try to make this kid look like a hero.

Actually, you have a right when pulled over that, if a cop asks you to step out of the car you can request a warrant. And if you do step out of the car, you don't have to move past the door to the front; at which point a police officer can handcuff you.

These are you rights unless a police officer has probable cause to search your car or cuff you. They don't advertise this, and after watching COPS and movies you wouldn't know this, but you can refuse to a search without a warrant from a court. At which point you all wait there while a judge draws up a warrant.

If you say no and a cop tazes you and forces you to, because you were exercise your rights? So he deserves it for harmlessly exercising his rights to speech?
