Honestly I love FFXI but there a several major problems to it that I honestly think SE will not fix. My bet is still on that FFXI it self is a giant beta test on MMOs by SE.

To quickly summarize the pissing match and bring it on topic... How about pointing out that people buy autumnstones(contributing to gilsellers) due to the screwed up Ulli spawn and if SE made a reasonable change to Ulli(this isn't the place to discuss to go back off topic) then it would be one of many "fixes" needed against RMT. Tieing the RMT problem, which SE says they're interested in, to the Ulli problem, which SE is ignoring, *might* be a more constructive approach than simply bitching about both.

If Ulli wasn't such a fucked up camp, then I wouldn't agree with buying autumnstones, but as it stands, my LS and I'm sure a lot of others, have no choice. It's definetely easier to kill 1 Tiamat and sell a pair of gaiters and buy 15 autumnstones than to camp that shit for 15 stones.

It's more like we buy autumnstones because my LS doesn't feel it's worth our time to spend 8hrs+ camping ullikummi (and not even see it pop) vs RMT who we have seen use flee tools to claim stupid shit like zipacna etc. The demand for Ulli is insane. Even before RMT took control of it on my server, Ulli was highly monopolized by a real player (I forget his name, started with an A), he got fucking rich from it. The importance/demand of Ullikummi practically breeds monopolization is what I'm trying to say; and SE is either A) fucking retarded or B) allied with RMT, to have it spawn the way it has for so long, even without a ninja fix or anything.

More power to you if you want to log into FFXI to camp Ullikummi for 8hrs or more; I think it's the worst NM to camp in this game.

Camping Ulli is more than just an "annoyance" heh. Yeah I understand it can be labeled hypocrisy to bitch about them being there but at the same time buying the A-stones they farm... but what choice do we have? I'm sure your LS is the same as mine, huge demand for haidates/w.legs because those items actually have a (big?) impact on your character. What do you say to your members if you can't get those items for them? SE doesn't do shit about the RMT monopolizing the stones so apparently they approve of it; what's the regular player supposed to do? Sky used to be the place you went when you had bad luck with kings because you could always kill shit there.

All this bullshit goes back to there being no new gear introduced that rivals/surpasses RoZ gear -_-

edit: RMT are involved in so many aspects of FFXI that it's hard to say for certain that you don't contribute to RMT in any way as well. RMT could be (and most likely are) crafting your sole sushi, your shihei, your equipment etc.

It's impossible for us to give feedback to SE without them DOING SOMETHING first.

Ullili is just the worst most visible problem. The fundamental problem is that in FFXI a small dedicated group of player/s can monopolize content in the game and effectively hold it for ransom.

The main reason this is possible is because of the way high-value spawns are generated and claimed. Personally, I'd change the generation method and thus make the claim-issue moot. This also promotes the mix of RL and VL that SE promotes in their sign-on page. Anything that occurs on the game's schedule instead of the player's schedule favors those that can spend inordinate amounts of time in the game. Scheduled play is good for real people. Marathon play is for RMT.

The patch that moved some rare items to BC and replaced them with ra/ex on the random roamers was a step in the right direction. It wasn't enough, but it was a nice thought. The random roamers are still too highly contested. Random NMs really should be a way to spice up a zone. More a matter of "oh, look, an NM!? Let's try it!" or "OMG, it's huge, Run Away!" rather than "Hmm, why are those people with funny names and no linkshell standing around that spot all the time?"

The true source of valued items should come from scheduled *hard* fights rather than an ability to run a claimbot 24x7. Testing your ability to play is good. Testing your endurance against a claimbot is not.

I remember a question and answer session with Sage Sundi being posted here. I also remember a promise from SE to keep in touch with the people who gave that interview to continue answering questions in the future. I then remember those people posting in the following months about how they tried and tried to get those follow up sessions unril Matt Hilton from SE let them know (this is someone who works for SE) let them know that SE japan doesnt give a fuck and likely will never respond, and himself stopped respond after that. The people who gave that original interview are all playing WoW right now.

Quit hinging your hopes on this shit. I play, I talk to people, help people with shit, and just lvl shit up these days. After doing most things in the game it makes you choosy about what kind of hnm ls you get involved with, especially after spending so much time on hnm and being fucked over massively by my ls. There is still enough other content to keep me busy, Ive come to terms with the fact that there is a handful of gear I'll never likely get. The only "endgame" event I miss in anyway is Limbus. There is alot of changes players would like to see sure, and keep trying to get those points across to SE in whatever way you can. But really if your enjoyment of the game is hinging on that then go ahead and quit now, b/c your just going to be disappointed 9 times out of 10.

If Bercus ever actually gets a response to this latest batch of questions I will put my foot in my mouth. However I can pretty much guess that half the questions wont be answered properly and the other half will be answers that people will be disappointed with, and thats if they even respond. Again if you dont log on and have fun doing whatever you do, yet keep doing it, b/c you think SE will come and magically change it to your liking, dream on.
