Good times
I woke up early and went down to Futureshop first. There was a line up and I lined up for about an hour. When the store finally opened up they said "we will now be accepting the numbers 1-30 to come in and pick up your Wii, only 4 ppl walked up and bought them, aparently at 8am they were giving out numbers for ppl to pick up their Wii. only 4 ppl returned out of the 60 numbers to actually pick one up when the store opened, and the manager wouldnt let the rest of us who had been waiting in line get one because he felt those that got the numbers should get one before anyone else, even if they aren't there.
I went to Toys r' us next and again there was a decent sized line. They were expecting 90 Wiis but 20 mins before the store opened the manager came out and said "there was a problem in shipping and we will only be recieving 15", needless to say there was a riot(lol). Some ppl trashed that TRS pretty badly. I cant believe some ppl can get that emotional over not having a game the first day. I can understand wanting it, but just not that badly to destroy a store that badly.
After that my only shot was EB, they were only expecting 5 Wii's(talked with the manager yesterday) needless to say everyone from the TRS line moved over to EB, it was kinda funny seeing a line of about 50 ppl for 5 systems. Anyways I was about 15th in line so I just went home. They're getting another few Wiis in a week or two so I can justify the wait.
Aurik... can you turn the damned lantern off once to conserve fuel, or are you just boned once you light it?
A question to those who have played Zelda. Is there auto-shielding or do you press/hold a button to hold your shield up?
It says Press A to put away... He also tells you how to put it away when you get it.Originally Posted by Melchiah
Press Z to put up your shield. Its like the OoT versions.
Got my Wii and Zelda :D 8)
how are you liking red steel?xOriginally Posted by ertyu
Got to a Supertarget at about 5 AM this morning, my brother and I were #42 and 43 out of 120 available Wiis. There were a couple people camping from the previous night, but even a few people who showed up right as Target was gonna open at 8 managed to get a Wii, although the line got pretty damn long.
Halfway through the second dungeon...awesome game.
Looks like I'm waitting til next week to get one ;o.
I'm nearing the 3rd dungeon. Played hardcore all day. Zelda is so ftw its not even funny.
Are every 8.8 minutes out of 10 fun to you or is it more like every 10 minutes out of 10 are fun?Originally Posted by Jooeetheplatypus
Red Steel is awesome except being left handed makes it suck a little. I'm used to using my left thumb to move my character, and also my left forefinger to shoot, and also my left hand to aim things like guns. Sooo using the wiimote in my right hand makes me feel like I'm retarded, and using the nunchuck in my right hand makes me feel like someone just broke my legs. Other that that I'm liking the game, hope to get some people together to play some multiplayer soon.
I played monkey ball for a bit too, and there are a lot of mini games. A lot of them are really fun too, but some are hard to control.
Zelda looks great, but I haven't played it yet.
I'm nearing the third dungeon myself. The game really is incredibly fun. My two biggest complaints are that the Twilight 'fight' music is really horrible, and that the audio quality from the wii remote really is crappy. Kinda wish they didn't include it, I have it turned almost all the way down.
I don't know what the people who said aiming with the Wiimote was hard were smoking, but I have bad depth perception, a lazy eye(not severe though), and i wear glasses/contacts, and have no problem aiming at all. Though I suppose they wrote it was more of a control problem, but I guess they just suck.
This game truly is worth the cost of the console.
red steel is really fun, really well done for a launch title. Ive had so much fun with my wii today its not even funny. It is a little hard to control at the start (me and my friends shared in some hilarity) but you get used to it. I would reccomend it.
I got my Wii, I went to Gamestop around midnight Saturday night to pick up Zelda and saw 8 people in line over at Target (where I was planning to go the next day).My friend and I went back home, got a chair, my DS, a book or two, and a Thermos. The line didn't "fill up" (all 24 tickets given out), til 6 am ish, so I could have woken up and came at 5am like I was planning, but I didn't want to risk it. I got plenty of sleep, and some guy brought a 27 inch T.V and 8 hours worth of South Park, so it wasn't toooooo bad.
And it was totally worth it. Whoever gave it a 8.8 is a fucking wanker, I wouldn't give it 10/10, but at least a 9/10, the controller is really easy once you get the hang of it and aren't too stupid. The reason I might give it 9 is because the Wiimote audio isn't that great. The ONLY reason, and I think that's being really picky. Once you aim with the slingshot, or get into your first real sword fight...well, it's sexy.
I got a Classic controller, and a 2000 point Wii card, but I can't figure out how to hook up to the internet yet. Manual is talking about a Wii-specific Wireless attachment that I havent seen at all yet. Do I NEED one of those, or do I have to mess with my router? I wanna play Super Mario 64.
It detects my Wireless easy enough, and even tests the connection and gets an ok (not all the time, but most of the time). But when i start updating, it gets an error.![]()
I think the DS USB wireless adaptor would work, since I recall reading that DS and Wii would be using the same format.
I was having a problem too. Since your able to connect though makes it a bit more odd. On your router, what type of security are you running on it, WPA? Disable it and try connecting now.Originally Posted by Kenai
I'll have to boot up the router info, it's a linksys (sp?) network, I was trying all types of things, at first I got nothing, then I started being ghetto and took the USB off my compter and stuck it in the Wii's USB slot. THEN it starts detecting the network, but won't update. I'll try disabling the firewalls and security settings when I get back home I guess. I was gonna get a DS wireless thingy anyway, I might as well buy one if it will save some future hassle. The weird thing was the connecting, sometimes it would or wouldn't even though I didn't change anything inbetween tries after I plugged in the USB, so it might actually be security stuff.Originally Posted by SephirothYuyX

BRP I thought you didn't like Wii?

Yea Seph I had this problem too. The guy there said he saw the shipment in the mail, and they should have it by Wednesday, so it's not too bad. I need to get it though, Super Mario 64 sucks with the Gamecube controller.Originally Posted by SephirothYuyX
