    JRPGs for the 360?

Everyone pretty much knows why the Xbox(360) is failing in Japan, but one of the reasons is a lack of tradidtional RPGs well... Blue Dragon is coming out on the 360, and it looks pretty interesting, cliche story but you never know...

It loosk pretty good, and it has the classic battle system with a few new twists, and the pirate girl is a hotty, but im not sure if it will be enough to buy a 360 for.

It's failing in JP because nobody wants to buy an american console imho.

plus the japanese game market is weird. If Gears of War and Ridge Racer were launch titles, they would pick up Ridge Racer in a heart beat.

I don't know if I could handle that battle music in the boss battle trailer. Words just seem too annoying. Dunno if the graphic style works for me either. But my brother has the 360 in my house and fat chance he'd let me play on it anyway so doesn't really matter.

    is exactly what I thought

I'm not saying this is a reason to GET a 360, but it's a step in the right direction to a more interesting console, if they keep making JRPGs/Traditionals/whatever on the 360 I reckon more people will be inclined to by it. After all, it's becoming more and more apparant that FF isn't the only RPG worth playing.

Halo was the reason you bought an Xbox...

Gears of War is the reason you buy a 360. It's fucking amazing!

Xbox/360 doesn't sell well in Japan because American gamers favor FPS's so that's what the system focus's on, while Japanese gamers favor RPG's, which is what Playstation focus's on.

That's why Sony was so insistant on using Blue-Ray in the PS3. RPG's need tons of disc space. The new generation of RPG's is looking at being 30-50GB and the only way to keep that on a single disc is to do blu-ray.

That's funny cause I remember buying a 360 for GRAW, Dead Rising, Gears of War, Project Gotham 3. The best versions of Splinter Cell and live arcade. But what do I know. The system is only been out for a year.

I also remember buying the Xbox for Ninja Gaiden(black), Otogi's, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Crimson Sky, Jet Set Radio, Project Gotham, Rallisport, Fable and not to mention the prefered multiplatform choice of non PS2 exclusive games.

    But yeah lolhalo and lolGoW.

Was I the only fucking gamer last generation to just buy all 3 systems?

100,000 preorders for Blue Dragon during the month it's release was announced in Japan.

But I thought the 360 was a big hit at TGS with Blue Dragon and Lost Planet. I remember reading a few magazines and internet articles about it. The whole Blue Dragon Xbox360 bundle they have coming out and such. The Japanese seemed pretty excited about it from what I've seen.

My 360 is getting some use now with GOW and COD3 at last

I think the system will still fail in JPN unless microsoft can somehow get SE to release something or buy Capcom

I think if they keep going on like they are it'll be more popular then Xbox was, but yeah, if they can get a SE RPG or FF game it'll be largely more popular.

Is kind of a reason not to get it... That is, unless you like every character in every one of his games to look like Gohan.

This might just be me, but I didn't think of multi-disc RPGs as much of a problem. There are only a few PS2 games that needed 2 DVDs (Star Ocean 3 and Shadow Hearts 2 come to mind), but even back with the 3 and 4 disc games on PS1, it was a pretty minor inconvenience.

On top of that, they could have just used HD-DVD if it was a matter of needing more space. Sony wants Blu-Ray to become the standard, that's all.

HD DVD is only 30GB. Personally, I don't mind multi-discs either... but this is Sony's big selling point on the blu ray... and was just an example of how they cater the console to RPG's.

That's stupid, even in DBZ the characters looked unique, you know instantly who is who (even in SSJ form), Akira Toriyama does some of the most interesting monster designs and character sketches, he has a great style that's easily reconizable. So when he isn't drawing overly muscly guys his designs look great, I think the characters in this game look awesome.

I'm honestly bored of RPGs with cliche character designs, if Tetsuya Nomura did this game you would probably see each character with at least 5-10 zips and belts, nothing against Tetsuya Nomura, just think his designs are getting boring.

My problem with Akira Toriyama is the eyebrows and hair, because they do tend to look a like from games he has made and DBZ, Crono Trigger being more of an exception. Blue Dragon does look a little too much like DBZ.

This game I'm pretty excited about. Hopefully, it doesn't disappoint. Enchant Arm wasn't as good as it should have been, pretty average, if not just above.

The dragon looks very DBZ , I think we have a few more JRPGs coming too

    Lost Odessesy (HD only) http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php? ... mv&pl=game

Which looks a bit like FF12 although thats not always a good thing if anyone remembers the Legend of Dragoon.

    And Trusty Bell

    Hopefully both will deliver.

I think it's a combination of that and the original post. Even americans hate buying american consoles too because of the Microsoft 'evil' stigma.

I'd hate to wait until late 2008, early 09 to finally see a FF game above 480 res. (besides ff11 of course). FF12 hurts to look at when you're used to hd games.
