cat ear hood makes your action bar go from start to finish in the blink of an eye. most definitely helps your delays
Haste + Berserk + cat-eared hood = omgwtf hit me.
I've been using cat ear hoods on and off, and I thought it had less of an effect than the difference between Gkatana and gun base delays. Still noticable of course.
Don't forget, most of the time between attacks isn't waiting for the action bar to fill, it's sitting there with it still full and displaying the name of the last thing you did.
dunno what you guys are testing this w/... but i have tried cat-ear hood with masamune, sword, and bow... and an attack speed difference is unnoticable.
edit:: more precise tests on the lowest battle speed showed appx a 10% attack speed difference while using cat-ear hood.
cat-ear hood being a 10% increase in attack speed, which as said before does not equate to a 10% increase in actions because animation time is fixed, i'd say genji gloves completely own this, and is not worth using over bubble belt.
With the possible exception of ninja swords or bows (ranged weapons can't multi attack in the first place, and you only have one genji gloves).
woohoo I've been referenced o.oOriginally Posted by Charla

I realized I hadn't blocked a single attack against any of them and tested it on Yiazmat with ensanguined shield and a scale for capped evasion and still got hit every time while fighting 2 of his life bars down. Then I went outside and aggroed a bunch of crap, none of them hit me over a 15 minute span of time.
I guess this is only important if you like having a pld style tank but eh, I wish I knew it before I fought those guys and maybe it can help someone.
yeah i noticed it while fighting yiazmat. i previously was decoy tanking w/ vaan sword and shield, then just stopped decoy'ing and threw a dragon whisker on vaan.Originally Posted by DeadLegend
Maybe there's just a cap speed your action bar can move at, which would say why it makes an unnoticeable difference at times?
Nah, there were minor variances in the percentage difference but not enough to say it was capped. The faster weapons benefited more than the slower ones.
Based on that, I think it's very much like FFXI. Each weapon has a delay, and your base speed stat is added (as opposed to multiplied) onto that to equal your actual speed, which can then be modified from there w/ buffs.
IE. At level 69 Frans base SPD is 32 and assume masamune is 450 delay
450+32 = 482
Now add cat-ear hood for 50 speed and you get:
450+32+50 = 532
Now to figure out the speed difference:
532/482 = 1.104 which is appx a 10% increase.
Now in theory this would mean it would have a greater effect on faster weapons. Comparing dagger which is about 20% faster than masamune:
450*.8
360+32 = 392
360+32+50 = 442
442/392 = 1.128 which is appx a 13% increase.
so try out hand to hand for omg no delay :D
I hear barefisting actually works pretty well if you get brawler and amber armlet relatively early. But of course, you can get deathbringers/zodiac spear before amber armlet. Fran's little backflip kick is fun to watch at least.
According to the number cruncher on gamefaqs, barehanded melee is almost exactly the same attack rate as spears, and daggers and ninja swords are a bit faster.
I killed Yiazmat yesterday. Took me 4-5 hours I think, I had to keep taking breaks.....not used to one fight in a game taking that long. x.x
When he got stronger near the end, his special attack would full wipe my team and I would have to keep bringing out my level 50 team to raise them. >_>
even with shell on his big move hits everyone for 9999??Originally Posted by Scythiroth

Well, no, I just usually wasn't fully healed. Also, with all the death, not really any time to recast shell.Originally Posted by Mysterio
I haven't fought Yiazmat yet, was just curious.
i had to wear windbreaker armor (1/2 damage from wind) in order to survive cyclone. otherwise it was 9999 to all even w/ shell (i was level 69).Originally Posted by Mysterio
I havent done the seer and got yiaz >_>Originally Posted by DeadLegend
Isnt the seer like a different kind of hunt though? Like, do you even have to officially get the hunt from Montblanc for him to show up?
