I beat it... w/o reverse, w/o zodiac spear, w/o tournasol, at level 69... yes, it's hard (took me over 10 hours) and if i had to do again i would level to 99... but i still wouldn't use reverse. you do die... a lot. took me 8 trips back to town to buy more phoenix downs/chronos tears/remedies but it's very possible.

I've heard you can zone out and he won't regain health, but you can go all the way back to town, restock and come back... that's pretty cool. Can you save and stuff too? If so that's not too bad... can always just head out of the arena every so often and save your progress in case of a wipe. Or does loading from a save restore his health?

You can save, go to town, reload, whatever. It'll have the same HP as when you left. Just gotta make sure it doesn't put on regen while you're running away.

Make sure you don't stay in the same zone for more than 3 mins either trying to regroup. Fucker regen'd 4 full life bars on me when I was trying to get everyone back up then chained his instant death move for 5 mins.

yeah i learned that the hard way. i notice he wouldn't leave the arena so i tried going out of range in the tunnel and spamming ranged attack/magic. he spammed death strike and eventually started regening hp at like a full bar every second! i was pissed...

    Bullshit.

Dont do this often, but the above quote is a blatent lie.

By his final stage he was hitting me lvl 90+ characters for 2k-5k a hit and combod 90% of the time. In the event of a combo, he would combo no less then 8 times.

Even with reverse i used about 500 pheonix downs.

He would start attacking my characters the second they were up and WOULD NOT stop attacking untill they were dead (10 hit combos every round).

If i were lucky enough to get reverse off in time to allow vaan to stay alive long enough to get a swing in, Yiazmat would immediately use deathstike and kill him.

Yes, during the first 20% of the battle it is POSSIBLE to do this normally, w/o reverse, but in the last 20% you have NO chance, so dont lie.

Oh, and ya, i learned the hard way to:
You leave the arena he wont heal, but if you try and rest/recover in the arena, but outside of his aggro range, the mofo will heal about 1mil health per second.... (had him at very last bar and went to heal out of range and came back to him with 6 bars, i cursed alot).

Even with reverse it looks like zombie fight. The times that the tank was up for more then 2 seconds was probably the times he had reverse on.

No matter what you do, its a zombie fest by the end, and w/o reverse to give you 2 seconds to swing a bit, youll get now where.

And after taking a look at the video again, the player is definately using reverse. Ashe was the tank and was hit for a 8 hit combo in one part and her hp stayed at 9999... So either he used reverse or he knows something we dont.

The point is: Reverse isnt a cheat, its just a good tactic to qual the might of a god for a few seconds at a time in order to do a little damage before being anihilated.

Fuck this fight, got him down to 25% ish, he decides to insta death > cyclone > insta death within 5 seconds, then takes out my back up pt while I'm trying to run away/revive people. Not wasting anymore time on this crap.

Whatever happened to the old FF's where death/doom wasn't 100%?

There's a couple of places. The fastest exp can be gotten in Henne Mines in the high level area... there's a video of the procedure, shows the location too I believe.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCg6BDXSVe4

Another place is in Nabreus Deadlands in the area "Overlooking Eternity". You fight a rank 6 mark there, and there are tons of skeletons that spawn. They give 1500 exp each without tippet and you can kill them FAST. Just Berserk 2 DDs and have the 3rd person cure and blindna. Kill them all, zone 2x, repeat. You make somewhere between 60-70k exp each time you clear the area and you can do it before Berserk wears if you have well-equipped people.

Wow, 3k a kill for those bats, 6k with embroided tippet. Now I just need to kill one more esper so I'll have the 10 required to enter. Want to be 99 for Yaizmat. I killed Hellwyrm hella easy at 75 though.

I went to a movie while fighting hell worm lol. Yaizmat wasnt even remotely similar..

I was pleasantly suprised to say that Yaizmat was the hardest thing ive ever fought in a game.

Total of about 7 houirs, 500 pheonix downs, and the course of 3 days. Awesome battle, with alot of curse words.

    Deathstrike SPAMMING mofo..

I swear, that bastard had a phase that lasted about 1.5 hours where he literally did NOTHING but use deathstrike, i couldnt even get a hit in. Then came the 10 hit combo ever attack round phase, with occasional deathsrikes and cyclones. Shitty thing was, with 10 hit combos, he would attack NON STOP, meaning the 2 seconds out of 10 that reverse was down, the tank was crushed.

Only think that would have made the fight harder is if he spammed magic shield, physical shield, and a shit ton of enfeebles.

Or if when damaging the mob would return some damage to your own characters. I actually killed my main DD on KB because he was attacking so fast, I couldn't cure him in time from all of the damage he was causing himself.

lmao. okay... you believe what you want... fact of the matter is you just suck at the game >_< yiazmat has been beat in 2 1/2 - 3 hours.

it only 'spams' deathstrike if you get out of range. and in the final 5 bars, deathstrike was a good thing cause it took longer than his normal attacks which 2-shotted any of my guys.

also, in the final 5 bars, basically all of its normal attacks are insta-kill... so reverse wouldn't even matter.

just have every1 wear windbreakers, have ally any > phoenix down on all, have one person spamming curaja non-stop, and everybody hasting themselves. otherwise just attack.

if you didn't notice, when 2 people are down from his attacks, he stops attacking to buff himself. the only way to wipe is from AoE.

He's got invisible blaze spikes. lol Hitting him causes the fighter to take damage but there's no visual effect so eh.

Kainen don't be a dick, and stop spamming "I DO NOT USE THE GUIDE I AM GODROX" because I believe less than half the people used the guide here and nobody has yet told anybody else they suck at this, an offline game. This has been one forum untouched by dickheads. Everyone on this part of the board has been nothing but helpful even to notorious douchebags from the FFXI section.

i've been very helpful thank you very much. and in return i get some punk calling me a liar. so who's the dickhead here?

i'm only said anything about not using a guide when it's relevant to the conversation... like some1 saying "just bring dark absorb gear to zodiac"... when there was no way possible of knowing to bring dark absorb gear to that fight unless you knew ahead of time that he spammed darkja. no where in this thread even have i said i didn't use a guide... so wtf are you talking about? how about you both stfu and be nice to some1 who is trying to help you out.

Your right man, you were just setting me straight in my arrogance and audacity of calling you out on obvious bullshit.

And yes yaizmat can be beatin in less time, but i actually tried to beat him w/o reverse for the first 50% of the fight, which is why it took me so long. The plain truth is, during the last few phases of the fight ally:any >> Phoenix Down isnt enought to counteract the slaughter, i tried. If your trying to insinuate that i just dont have the skill lol, go back into that hole you live in, because the game isnt that hard. Yes. Yaizmat would occasionally buff himself when 2 members were down, but you can use that time to get 2 swings in, or get your other two members up. So unless you did NOTHING but kill him by getting 2 swings in every 10 min, then your a blatent liar.

I suppose you tanked omega w/o reverse too rofl.

I actually went into the yaizmat fight i had saved at 20% with my lvl 90 characters (in best gear), and tried it w/o reverse just to give you some credit. I already have the pheonix down gambit (like it was some amazing strat you used that set you apart frome everyone lol), and set to curaja spamming.

Using that strat his hp bar didnt move for 2 hours, so gg with that one champ.

    As for my gambits:

    Vaan:
    Self >> Reverse
    Any Ally >> Pheonix Down
    Self >> Berzerk

    Fran:
    Ally: Vaan >> Reverse
    Ally: Vaan >> Decoy
    Ally: Vaan >> Bravery
    Ally: Vaan >> Hastega
    Self: HP < 50% >> Curaga
    Self: >> Faith
    Self >> Bravery
    Foe: Any >> Attack
(didnt use charge in the fight because i would just syphon vaan when needed to fully restore mp)

    Basche:
    Ally: Vaan >> Reverse
    Ally: Vaan >> Decoy
    Ally: Vaan >> Protectga
    Self: HP < 50% >> Curaga
    Self: >> Faith
    Self >> Bravery
    Foe: Any >> Attack

    All characters lvl 90+
Tournasel on Vaan, Zodiac Spear on Basche, Masamune on Fran.
Maximillians on them all (had mage gear on fran to land decoy more, but she kept getting one shotted so switched to heavier armor).
Started fight with ribbons on two characters beacuase of status effect breathe, and just casted bubble on everyone, but moved to just using bubble belts because didnt have time to cast bubble.

Went VERY smoothly for the first 70%, then he went apeshit. Most of my time was spent in these "hell phases" where i would spend like an hour just trying to keep myself from wiping and couldnt do any damage. Then other times he would be calm as a baby and i could take a few bars down in a heartbeat.

All in all im not saying your some scumbag child rapest man, im just saying that lvl 69 characters spamming curaja and pheonix downs doesnt work on this fight, and saying you did it w/o any evidence other then "you must suck" goes against everything i have seen.

But who knows, maybe you got a nice yaizmat, maybe you were able to beat him 30 lvls lower then me, in half the time, w/o reverse, and just spamming cure Q.Q lol.

Anyways, im not gonna argue with a guy online about how he fought a fictional being in a video game.. So kudos to you if you did beat him like that, if not whatever. Good luck and see you all in gears of war.

your only raiser was the person you was casting berserk on? meaning the only time he could raise someone was when his berserk was down? useless.
