Yeah, he got nerfed to hell in NA version apparently, from what I hear.

Eh, I guess they figured we couldn't even take (insert HNM here), why give us the good Omega?
Course, I have yet to try Yiazmat, so I can't confirm myself. Just picked up a Ribbon in Cerobi Steppe (random chests are fun -_-), gonna give it a go now.
Well, our Hell Wyrm is about 10x harder than theirs, so it all evens out.Originally Posted by StaplerGuy

FIGHTING HIM RIGHT NOW
going afk.
Our Hell Wyrm has 10x HP or something, right? Cause he was indeed still easy as hell.
p.s. beat Yiazmat, took me five enter/exit, I was considering enter, hit, wait for level doubling, leave, repeat <_<
How long did it take ya, what characters, what lvls, what strat?Originally Posted by StaplerGuy
Vaan, Fran, Basch all 85, the other three 14-15 but I only used them once (wished they were 50 when I swapped them in for Phoenix Down duty, but them's the breaks)
Took about six hours ish, I paused and went to dinner in the middle so the numbers aren't exact. Had two wipes, those wasted half an hour each.
Strategy was fairly basic, shoved Tournesol on Vaan and made him decoy-reverse tank. (Anyone who says they didn't use that spell is some kind of god or something. 12-hit combos are NOT survivable without it. Period.) Basch had Y-Darkblade, which does crazy damage compared to the Masamune I switched over to Fran. Fran seemed to be doing more casting, despite identical gambits on each. Darkblade was REALLY good for me, though I suspect Ultima Blade would have been better (still haven't gotten that.)
No buffs but Decoy/Reverse and Haste on Vaan, no buffs at all on the other two. Limiting factor was Phoenix Down supply, obviously. Had to leave, fly to Mosphoran, buy more, fly back. Convenient having shop, anchor, and telecrystal all that close.
It was just an endurance thing, really. Got lucky, he didn't Cyclone much, and I didn't know where to get Windbreakers so I just did without. I recommend them highly, both my wipes were postCyclone and rape of the other PT members.
Also, as a footnote, Montblanc offered me Yiazmat before I had finished The Seer. I had the quest up, and I had at least Abyssal, if not Unknown, floor access in Pharos, but I hadn't gone and fought him when I accepted Yiazmat itself. Not really relevant at all.
if you are low on phoenix downs, use "Arise" spell in conjunction with bubble belt if you can, its insta-raise 9999 hp.
I did post-Deathstrike, but any other time I didn't want to take the time to do it, as even with bubble belts on all three (which I did full-time), Yiazmat ate them alive. FAST.
At level 99, with 5500-6000 base hp, there's plenty of time to use arise before he attacks again, at least in the first half of his life bar.
As for the ninja katana thing, orochi seems to do 9999 a hit just fine, adding further insult to my 90+ bombshell kills with no darkblade.
And just wondering, is there a reason the game keeps track of how many times you've entered Yiazmat's room and displays "stage x" under the minimap?
bragging rights if you beat him in one appearance?Originally Posted by Charla

Your max HP is way more than 9999. 9999 is just the max that it will numerically show. You can sometimes get hit 4-5 times and it still say 9999 but the bar not be full. I've got Arise'd for 18,659 before, so it's WAY more than just 9999.Originally Posted by Mysterio

He didn't get noticeably harder in each stage that I saw. Hell, I was thinking of zerging his last half a bar by going in, hitting until level doubled, fleeing out, repeat.
Think it's for bragging rights or something. Maybe Stage 15 or some random specific number unlocks his crazy ultimate powers and he becomes twice as tough, but knowing SE I doubt it.
sole purpose is for bragging rights ;o
Well, I just beat both Yiazmat and Omega without casting reverse once. When Yiazmat hit hyper mode at 6 bars or so, I just turned off most of my self-buff gambits and switched to a complete zombie strategy. Nobody did much except cast araise, attack and cure. Fran and Asch were set to curaga whoever got under 70%, basch would protectga whoever needed it and hastega every time he got back up. I had to use a few ethers and one megalixir to keep mp up, but nothing could really wipe me except a couple luck procs of the instant death effect.
As for Omega, I just copied the strategy above and removed the haste. Each character died in two hits and nobody could reliably get a cure out between attacks, but I eventually whittled it down with pure zombie power. And I hadn't seen that video or I would have thought to use light armor for the extra hp. That might have let my healers survive the second shot.
I tried arise and curaga spam for a while during his hyper phase and my guys were just getting wiped out to fast to do any damage. By the time it took to get one up, another had died, then the other. 1 hit every 2-3 deaths is lame..Originally Posted by Charla
