Dual Demon Slayer or Devil Slayer

From what I've seen intimidation effects from gear I've had (tatami, Hrotti, undead earring, koenig shield) aren't anything to write home about in terms of proc rate, but it's nice when they kick in. It's always seemed kinda random though like most other crap, sometimes it procs in patches and other times you won't see it for days. So yeah I wouldn't bank on the swords crippling the imps or anything but it's fun to scare stuff. <.<

In an average lufaise pt (yeah lollufaise lolpld) I'd see maybe 3 intimidations out of 5 rams from my koenig shield, when I hunt ahriman for lenses I don't even bother with tatami shield since ice shield paralyze beats the crap out of tatami's intimidation rate (on those, for me)usually. Hrotti never got much testing since Macuahuitl+1 is the sword of kings and shadow dragon pops kinda randomly lol. Undead earring always seemed to have a better rate than any of the others while exping in sky or killing random weapons. I had to solo the garlaige doll for my rdm hat as pld/rdm and over the course of a half hour I probably scared the monster once every 2 minutes with a mean streak at the end, but I did that doll with tatami as well so that's not a reliable test I guess.

Ya, that's what I heard also, with instruments giving an extra 1% per plus, isn't it?

I've always heard carnage elegy is around 50% also.. and hojo 18ish..

Carnage Elegy is 40%, 45% with +1 Elegy, 50% with +2 Elegy.

SV Carnage is still 50%. Requiem is only debuff i think SV has an effect on as far as potency is concerned

I'm pretty sure SV carnage is more than 50% but don't have hard evidence other than me thinking mobs become easier to solo when I've SV elegy'd them BRD/NIN

i have both demon and dragon slayer...

a poster above me said the proc rates are inconsistent at best. i would agree. one day while soloing imps in the mire i saw 1 proc in 10k exp. maybe i missed 1, so could have been 2, but this was my first trip to imps after i got demon slayer. i thought it was broken because that rate sucked.

next rl day, i went again. and this time was better. i saw 1 proc every 2-3 imps. almost 20k exp that day and the sword was proc'ing like mad. i was shocked because it was so opposite from the day prior.

last night, i got an invite to a normal exp pt at mamool staging point. this was gonna be my first chance to use dragon slayer against a dragon. so i purposely pulled hate to see if it would proc during the time i had hate (tank was pulling hate back from me pretty quickly so i just wanted to see if it would proc at all). after about 1.5 hours of exp i had seen about 5 or so procs, all on puks not the wyverns there (forget their new name). we fought both but it never proc'd on wyvern, only puk.

so i'd say swords are nice because they are among our best/easiest options for weapon as blu. but dont implement proc rate into your fight strategy. it's just a nice bonus every now and then.

well, i'm a former ps2 user, now xbox360. i truly don't know the answer to whether or not either of the slayer swords, or the new kilij for that matter, are better to mainhand. i cant parse because of the client i play ffxi on, so.

i'm still not positive if dissector is or is not better to mainhand. i have dissector also, but as i said can't parse damage so my determinations are just my feelings and not fact, please take it as such.

my feelings are: mainhand dissector if u have it. 1) slayers proc rate doesnt seem to be determined by which hand you have it in. 2) like i said, last night at mamool i tested some procs, but also played with dual wielding demon+dragon. ca+vertical cleave in the 900-1000 range with slayer sword mainhand but 1100-1160ish with dissector mainhand.

i plan to mainhand dissector and offhand whichever slayer i need depending on mob, until i can actually see a dissector's affect on physical spells regarding it's damage/crit+ through the use of a parser of some sort.

but dissector aside, the nq or hq kilij/slayer swords (LV73 ones) are the most damage weapons we can use... well if you disregard the myth that is shivas shotel, which may as well not even exist. also, these new weapons are easier prospect to obtain for a lot of people, well, those who cant get a ks group to help them anyway. took me 4 ks runs of my own and then a friend donated me 30 ks to do a 5th run in which the dissector finally dropped. on a side note, me and friends, over the course of a few weekends, did like 20+ double dragonian runs, not 1 dissector drop. but when my friend donated me 30 seals for 1 more last try run, we did pigeons. 1st run drop.

I'd agree, because if you SV an Elegy, a non-soul-voiced wont stack over it, it will have no effect. So basically it cant JUST be duration, but I'm pretty sure its not double potency. Its definately not that much better, but its better in someway, considering it cant be overwritten with an NQ Carnage.

What race are you? cause as a Mithra i find the whole idea of -1 STR absolutely disgusting on BLU and +7 DEX is sorta not impressive when i look at my stats my + stats and the +stats i get from spells i use often. So i never even contemplated getting a Greed. Ifrit ftw imo. and 2/7 fights to a Shiva shotel!
