Final Fantasy Tactics Question - Spoilers

I was stuck on that fight FOREVER!

Eventually I just got pissed and made a new game... lol

What I did was basically have 2 BLMs, Ramza on Knight (Dual Wield), a SMN, and Mustadio as Engineer.

I then had the BLM's Meteor the shit out of Velius, Ramza slash his brains out, the SMN use strongest Summons, and Mustadio shoot him from afar. I kept ALL of my members apart from each other at all times, so AoE moves wouldn't hit all of them. I think I had some Angel Rings to keep them up after dieing. Not sure. After that he went down no problem lol.

Sorry for off-topic posting... but why is this game called Final Fantasy Tactics and not like Final Fantasy 8? (This game came out after 7 and before 8 right?). I never really understood what the reasoning was behind the number system and adding in other games that aren't numerically a part of the series. Final Fantasy Mystic Quest also comes to mind and there are a few others I think.

Well, it isn't really a traditional Final Fantasy game since it is a Strategy RPG, so, they gave it a different title to go with that.

One of my most memorable fights in that game was the "mines" fight (which weren't actually mines, but snowy rough terrain which has about 6 chemists all with guns, one of which has an elemental ice gun) which is part of the quest I think to get to Beowulf... anyway, I put Hamedo on Mustadio.... funniest shit ever. I swear they all would shoot at him and every.single.time he would Hamedo and shoot them first. Great fight!

You actually play as a squire? Squire is only good for it's abilities, it blows as a main compared to the advanced jobs.

use gutz on mnk to charge his phys atk power, and you can do 999 dmg to anything in the game.

1) change his secondary skill to SAM
2) put on MATK gear (he gets a ton more than everyone else because of his "special squire" class)
3) ???
4) Profit

(the strongest katana always does AoE 999 if i remember right, not to mention you also get instant AoE regen+haste, protect+shell and cures)

@ OP, if you're not overleveled/skilled at that point, then try to knock out as many of the demons as you can before you touch velious. Makes it a lot easier to manage(assuming you can 2-3 shot them)

Well, I beat Velius/Weigraf. I took the easy way out, Yell up to 30 Speed and Accumulate up to 20 Atk. I one shotted both of them. I think I died a little bit inside when it was over, like using a gameshark to beat a game, it just doesn't feel right.

P.S. Weigraf is a pussy. He was awesome in Chapter 1, making Ramza and Co. seem like the bad guy. I didn't want to fight him or Miluda, but then he goes and sells his soul to the devil.

The fight 1v1 with Ramza and Gafgarian sucked for me my first time through </3. Hay i heal myself with every swing lololol.

I actually feel bad for Izlude. At first he was against Ramza and you had to fight him in the Underground Book Storage. Later in this very fight in the cutscene before you fight Wiegraf, you see all the stuff going on with Vormav. Then Vormav changes into the Zodiac monster and kills everyone. Even his own son, Izlude. Then scene with him all bloody and giving alma the Zodiac stone was pretty sad on his part. Later, you encounter his sister, Meliadoul, and she basically wants your blood. Later she learns what really happened and joins you.

Also, read Izlude's entry in the Brave Story. It says he died while holding off Vormav. It's rather sad.

Or maybe I just hold a special attatchment to this game because it's my favorite. Or maybe it's the age similarity (I'm 18, Ramza starts out young 16-17 and grows up). I think that's why I like FFVIII more than most people too. I can relate to the charatcers. Zell the most probably... haha.

FFT is a damn fine game. My first time through I just happened to have Ramza on Lancer for the Weigraf/Velius fights. The rest of my crew got owned horribly, but somehow Ramza was always in the air on a jump when Velius went to attack, and so I won. The second time was a bit harder, I kept getting wiped out in the solo fight until I switched Ramza to a ninja, put on the speed+1 boots, and used a combination of Yell and Throwing Samurai swords to kill Weigraf. When Velius and the demons came out, I just had everyone go balls to the wall to own him before any of them could do much damage. Ramza keeps his status ups from the solo fight, so that helps.

And yeah, that part earlier where Ramza has to solo Gafgarrion was a pain, it wasn't until I'd already won that I saw the switch on the wall and thought perhaps the gate could be opened by moving Ramza to that square. Is that doable?

My favorite part of the game is the character of Delita, and the ending scene. Also, there's just something awesome about these almost cute 2d sprites with their very grown-up war.

Everyone sucks except Agrias, and he's outclassed by Orlandu when you get him.

Other 4 spots should go to ramza and 3 genericly built chars. Nobody can outdo them if you have any sense of what is good and what is not.

If you want to blitzkrieg, mnk/squire is the way to go. Spend the first few turns accumulating, then wave punch everything to death, and hamedo.

Nothing can touch you. That is however, if you want the game to be easier, it's always an option to make things more difficult with other jobs.

I prefer not to use Orlandu because he's godforsakenly over powered. After playing this game numberous times, I decided it was time to crack on a game shark, giving everyone secondary job abilities. My favorite was the Arc Knight ability, Destroy Sword, which is a 3 or 4 (don't remember) ranged attack of sword magic (similar to Beowulfs ability) with an effect of 1 (meaning it spreads out one square) and it "breaks" their stats, much like the Knights skill, except it's -5 instead of -3. Nothing all that great, but it was fun to use and the animation is pretty slick.

Also there are a TON of spells in the game that you don't ever get to see because only bosses use them. Including, but not limited to, Blind II, Confuse II, Melt, Quake, Flare II, a few other IIs I don't remember... and so on.

God I love this game.

I have read alot of great suggestions here, pick one and roll with it. FFT is hands down my favorite FF game. I finished playing it again about 4 months ago for the 6th time, the replay value is amazing. Thank you for the nostalgia ^^

LOL funny you should mention that. Today someone on the Pandy forums on lolalla got totally pissed off today because someone talked about Barret and his role in Avalanche in FF7. I mean like totally spazzing over hearing a games ending despite the game being damn near 10 years old.

You would be amazed at the sheer stupidity of some people.

One of my favorite all time games... I played through it many times. I think I actually spent a crazy amount of hours just leveling in any place before Riovanes. I had Ramza maxed out as a monk if I remember correct he was so powerful I 2shotted most of the bosses [Velius included] for the first half of the game. Anyways, my first time through it was hard as hell til I figured out yell and accumulate.

Ramza was pretty much a one man show. One day I put him in some in between battlefield made some kind of arrangement where I keep one enemy on the field but theyre harmless for whatever reason (been a long time I don't remember). I placed everybody in a circle around Ramza and just had him do Chakra FOREVER til his job points and abilities were maxed. He could one shot things with just a counter. I miss those days...

So what's everyone's favorite counter move? I love Hamedo because it pwns the shit out of enemy soldiers (especially on a ninja), but it sucks in random battles since it never works on monsters.

I would keep every hero, but they are useless >_> You still have enough slot for every hero and secret hero, and a few overpowered monsters/chocobo/random npc if I remember correctly.

I had a generic guy named Rico totally decked out with the zodiac summon and maxed everything, I'd make him summoner/calculator and have him solo bariaus(sp) hill where you fight the tiamats and such, just for shiggles.. and he'd usually win. Damn, you guys are making me want to play through this game again.. I have way too many games to beat right now
