Good question. I'm going to guess its health removed since your not actually physically taking damage, but I could be wrong.

I hate when people say that got 1741 T4 and neglect to say they used a sorcerer's ring to do it. As I mentioned before, i can get almost 1700 without it. Even if you mentioned it in your thread somewhere, if you ever post an exact number, always include whether the weather, obi bonus, or a sorcerer ring was involved. Otherwise the info seems bogus.
In regards to the OP, it seems to me that it's more likely he is missing some information about what the other person is actually nuking with. The assumption that his MAB isn't working correctly due to something about the pudding's int or bizarre partial resists or whatever I believe to be untrue.
IF YOU DONT WANT TO SEE MATH, SKIP THE REST.
As I wrote earlier, puddings seem to have around 90 int. Among the tests I've done myself, it came out to be either 89 or 90, but it's possible some of them have other int values. They also take +25% magic damage.
To OP: I'm somewhat unclear if you meant that the 1427 was while your Uggalepih Pendant was active, but I'm assuming it was not.
OP's stats are:
5/5 Thunder merits (+10MAB)
79+32 = 111INT
+28MAB (Weskit + Mitts + Moldavite + Sorc. Ring + Yigit boots)
MAB Total = 32Base + 28gear + 10merits = 70
Pudding's int works out to 89 in this case.
floor(floor(floor(floor((111-89) * 2 + 541) * 1.15) * 1.7) * 1.25) = 1427
For Kaylia's numbers on page 5... it seems they were mislabelled, but Kaylia has cleared that information up for me.
http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/2953/dmgqj4.jpg
Kaylia's stats are (for first damage screenshot):
4/5 Thunder merits (+8MAB)
73+29 = 102INT
+25MAB (Weskit + Mitts + Moldavite + Novio + Yigit boots)
MAB Total = 32Base + 28gear + 10merits = 65
Pudding's int works out to 89 in this case as well.
floor(floor(floor(floor((102-89) * 2 + 541) * 1.15) * 1.65) * 1.25) = 1343
2nd damage screenshot used 10 more INT.
floor(floor(floor(floor((112-89) * 2 + 541) * 1.15) * 1.65) * 1.25) = 1391
3rd image has Sorc. Ring but same INT as #1, increasing MAB by 10.
floor(floor(floor(floor((102-89) * 2 + 541) * 1.15) * 1.75) * 1.25) = 1426
Burst II was stated to do 1743 with no sorc. ring and 1850 with. So basically, same calculations as 1st and 3rd screenshot with constant changed.
floor(floor(floor(floor((102-89) * 2 + 710) * 1.15) * 1.65) * 1.25) = 1743
floor(floor(floor(floor((102-89) * 2 + 710) * 1.15) * 1.75) * 1.25) = 1850
Assuming my math is correct, all things follow as expected which leads me to believe the OP is simply missing information about the other BLM.
You act like there is something wrong with Sorcerer's Ring, if you're one of the smart BLMs that convert HP>MP to make it always active, then there is no reason why you wouldn't use it. There are some places where I wouldn't use it, HNM fights etc, but for EXP it doesn't harm anything.Originally Posted by Toth

I'm pretty sure his point is more that people posting damage SSs while neglecting to include all the info (gear, weather, etc) doesn't really show or prove anything, and not that Sorc Ring is cheating.
Which is funny on BLM considering you can easily figure if he is lying or not by looking at their dmg :DOriginally Posted by Krandor
However, I disagree that sorc ring is "cheating". It can be an important part of someone's nuking setup. Taru can have it on all the time, non taru can too, but it's a pain. Blm/nin solo on pudding can easily control their hp too, so its easy to stay in yellow 80% of the time.
Nice post Niv btw
Yeah, pretty much my point. I was defending the comment that my Novio Burst IIs and Thunder IVs were low, even though I specifically said I didn't use the ring.I'm pretty sure his point is more that people posting damage SSs while neglecting to include all the info (gear, weather, etc) doesn't really show or prove anything, and not that Sorc Ring is cheating.
Huh? Good BLMs wear Sorc. Ring 24/7 and take it for granted. Why not just list all your gear, base stats, and the day/time/moon phase for every single damage screenshot?Originally Posted by Toth

Conserve MP procing 1.7% more often does not amount to shit short term... unless you are in a long term fight like adds alliance for Vrtra constantly nuking down summons it provides no outstanding benefits.
As for resting less? Are you talking about it having +1 MPH? Boroka(0MP), Rapture(10MP), Antivenom (15MP) earrings all have that.
As for the argument about SC + MB and usage of Static Earring for Bonus MB damage; the Static Earring adds much more damage over time. 70-100 damage added to one BLMs MB doesn't seem like alot, but on HNM fight like Kirin where SC+MB is a key source of damage, you will yield alot more damage than a BLM that is not using the Earring. If you have 5 BLM all using Static Earring for MB on something like Kirin or Fafnir/Nidhogg, the damage will really add up over time. 5 BLMs each with 100 more damage per MB increases total damage output immensely over time and speeds up the fight greatly. 1k more damage per every 2 SC+MBs if unresisted is a huge increase in damage output.
That is a much better choice for earring in that situation rather than saving a random percentage of total MP cost 1.7% more often.

I can do it while soloing pudding by getting hit, since you can easily control those fight, but it doesnt apply as well on anything else

Its doable in every exp situation or when you don't need to have max HP to survive. I wouldn't use Sorc. Ring in a fight such as Proto-Omega or Proto-Ultima where an AoE could one shot me due to the lower HP. Sorc Ring in fights like that is plain stupid.Originally Posted by Kaylia
BLM that activate Sorcerer's Ring by getting hit = fail. I have an Elvaan friend that activates latent np only using 2 pieces of Zenith (Mitts, Slacks) along with some other Rare/ex gear easily obtainable from lower level NMs.
I certainly assure you, always on Sorcerer's Ring is NOT taru onry.
edit:
It is situational, but yes Sorcerer's Gloves are definitely worth swapping in for MB on most HNM. Kirin, I go full elemental skill, Sky gods I'll use a relatively high elemental skill build, but use Sorcerer's Gloves on MB. There are still alot of HNM that they are worth using for - pretty much all Jailers in sea that you actually SC+MB, not lolTemperance. Regardless, it is plain lazy not to macro them in when you can afford to lose the 15 elemental magic.Originally Posted by Kaylia

Not everyone has 70 inventory space on them. I'm not carrying 4-5 zenith to make sorcerer ring proc.Originally Posted by Seditedi
And to answer your previous comment about boroka's earing and hmp earring, do you understand magnetic is an "all in one", making you save some inventory space. On Blm, it actually allow me to carry another situation piece of gear I could not bring otherwise.
Look at mithra base hp, and tell me how to activate the ring without carrying some retarded piece of gear
Yes, I understand that it's an "all in one" earring, but I would not use it for nuking anyway, so it would not save me any inventory space.
edit: "All in one" for WHM or RDM, not for BLM.. lol
edit2: 4-5 Zenith to proc Sorcerer's Ring on Mithra? Galka maybe, but definitely not mithra.
And who says he isn't? I macro my AF2 hands for all the MBs I've seen since I reached level to equip them. BTW I don't even have AF2 hands.Originally Posted by Seditedi
Maybe or maybe not an extra mob on a chain, but it can and does save 10-20 seconds of resting when CMP does proc due to the earring. No, we're saying with CMP you spend less MP, and thus don't have to rest as long.As for resting less? Are you talking about it having +1 MPH? Boroka(0MP), Rapture(10MP), Antivenom (15MP) earrings all have that.
1) wtf, SCing kirin? As for the argument about SC + MB and usage of Static Earring for Bonus MB damage; the Static Earring adds much more damage over time. 70-100 damage added to one BLMs MB doesn't seem like alot, but on HNM fight like Kirin where SC+MB is a key source of damage, you will yield alot more damage than a BLM that is not using the Earring. 2) nobody is arguing it isn't the best damage earring for magic bursting (it is), they're arguing that the extreme minority of cases where you are magic bursting dims its usefulness a lot
3) It procs 5% more often. Please read carefully.
I don't see how accurate your info on the CMP is. The statements you make about CMP proc rate and percentage saved lack information to back them up.
As for SCing Kirin, we are a smaller linkshell, so we do things the traditional way, quite honestly, I'd never burn a Kirin because the traditional way is more fun. Melee burn has benefits but I'm sorry I'd have much more fun killing Kirin the traditional way, especially the way sky is looking on most servers atm, Gilsellers up there 24/7, monopolizing Ullikummi.
There was a bevy of tests at alla. One showed the +15 CMP on water ring raised trigger rate by 15% on watersday. Another one dealt with the distribution of mp conserved, etc.Originally Posted by Seditedi
