That's retarded. You could say that about 95% of your gear in FFXI when you compared them to 2nd best alternative. That doesnt mean you shouldnt go for the best.

Sorry, I recap exp whenever I fall under 35k buffer, it is much more common seeing DDs delevel than a BLM. A BLM that can't keep level is more sad than that though, can just solo 6 to 7k an hour. It's just plain lazy if a BLM delevels.

Looking over the OP on page 1, you are trying to compare his +X INT to a difference of 20MAB. In reality, the MAB difference between the two of you is 13 (Sorc. Ring vs Nothing and Zenith Mitts vs Yigit Gages). You both have 5 Thunder Potency.

The burn theory wouldn't work since Suiram seems to have left out the +3INT of enlightened chain.

If you look all the possible INT differences (dINT) w/ the other BLM's MAB like Suiram did, the difference between him and the mob had to have been 48 (meaning other BLM has 137INT total). The difference between the OP's INT and the mob was 22 (OP INT is 111) by the equations.

The true comparison seems to be +26INT(other BLM) vs 13MAB(OP) on these mobs.

However, I don't know how the other BLM got the INT necessary to satisfy the equations. From gear he has +48 and merits add 2 to his base making it 81. 8INT is left unaccounted for in that case. Ambrosia + one unaccounted INT merit is the closest I can think of at the moment.

Assuming the above is true, the OP only needed 2 more INT to win by 1 damage on these mobs. Had he used food, this thread probably wouldn't exist.

To some extent, that's what makes BLM such a good job. They can deal lots of damage and still perform some degree of support.

Also because of the incremental nature of melee damage, improving damage marginally has real, immediate benefit. BLM improving nuke damage just means you're overkilling it by that much more.

I think the problem with this statement is that you have to keep capping your xp. My BLM currently has 3.5k xp which was down from 18k maybe about a year ago.

Yes, that is the best conclusion I have from the information provided.

If you were to plot out all the possible INTs he could have and the damage they would produce, only the number I wrote seems to make sense. No food that we're aware of adds MAB and no known hidden MAB on his gear so if that is the gear / potency merits he has then there's not much else to change other than unaccounted int differences between him and the mob.

The screenshot of the 2 thunder IVs you provided were on the same mob correct?

Yes same mobs cast at same time. We had those constant numbers atleast 10 times casting at same time on same mob.

I have always kept my exp buffer just over 12k for the last 2 years...I haven't deleveled to 75 yet.
