Yeah, Looks like not everyone catched my {Bio}tches joke. You need merit INTelligence more, damn it!
Regarding dmg - my T4 does 1461 dmg without int food (wiz cookies), without weather and without ugg latent. 5 thunder, hq equip with sorcring and gweskit.
Regarding "critical" I'm indeed getting "lil more" than standard 1461 dmg on puddings. Kinda rare and I call it "criticals" (yes, I'm sure it's not ugg / weather effect )
Isn't spell 'criticals' a WOW thing?
BTW Damn you allNow I have to go rebuy my Sorcerer Ring and put up some 1700+ damage screenies
I will never have a Spirit Lantern alas since I do the PUP ENM ever 5 days.
Lantern is just for resists.Originally Posted by Toth

yup, positive its MAB
i had some pet taru blms casting flare on batallia tigers soon after spirit lantern became available, i recall damage going from 14xx normally to 16xx with spirit lantern.
the description says 'enhances elemental magic' so i'm not sure if it does anything but +10MAB, it's certainly the most powerful thing you can put in ranged slot and you don't need to do the enm often if you save your precious charges for things that really need the extra dmg.

Lantern definitely increases damage, if I remember correctly I thought it was +10% but it could be MAB+10, or some MAB+X that at the time worked out to an increase in damage of roughly 10%. Whether or not it also lowers resists would be much more difficult to tell with only 3 minutes every 30 minutes twenty times every couple weeks to test it.
As for the OP question, people still act like it's a big mystery with something strange going on, when I thought it had been made obvious at this point that the OP was missing information about the other player. Maybe the player had 5 INT merits instead of 2 and was eating food, maybe the other player had 2 INT merits and only 3/5 Thunder merits but was macroing in Uggalepih Pendant when the OP wasn't looking (and eating food). Basically to get the 1436 number the guy only needed 8 more INT than the OP was claiming he had, or slightly less INT and slightly more MAB, etc.
Wrong. All info about the other player is correct. Answer = the actual comparison was 18 INT vs 20 MAB when it was actually 18 INT vs 13 MABOriginally Posted by Suiram
That might explain why your damage was lower than you felt it should have been, but not why his damage was 1436. I'm not going to waste too much time explaining it to you, except that with the amount of INT and MAB you claim he had, you are off by 8 INT, or by 4 MAB, or by some other combination of factors that are most easily explained by him lying to you about his merits, or him swapping in some other gear when you didn't check him, or whatever.
Please turn in your hat and staves at the BLM counter.Originally Posted by Not Kuno

Listen to me....I checked him two or three times right before he cast a spell. The gear posted is the gear he was using. Sure he could've been lying about his merits but that adds what 3 more INT? Pretty sure he was using cookies as well but not sure. Only other explanation is Food.Originally Posted by Suiram
Might of been it. <.< But I thought there were enchantment items you can take off why are some whores about it?Originally Posted by Seditedi
I just feel that it's far more likely that he had 8-9 more INT or 4 more MAB than you claim he did--whether by an error on your part or his part--than that the rules governing magic damage went on some kind of vacation during your party.Originally Posted by Dragonsmight
