Q doesn't appear in the Casino Royale novel. The character "Q", or Major Boothroyd, appears in Dr. No, five books after Casino Royale.

If they're going to use Q in further films with Craig as Bond, he'll likely be played by John Cleese again. They kept Judi Dench as M, despite this being a "prequel".

This is the correct answer, Casino Royale was the first James Bond novel, and Q was not a part of it. Out of the original series CR was the only one not turned in to a movie.. so what they do from now on will be interesting..

The next book after CR was Live and Let Die, but there are still about 25 novels that have yet to be made in to movies, but they were all made after Ian Fleming died.

Brosnan movies were based on the novels after, and the last book that I recall being made, as well as the movie, was Die Another Day.

So really im interested in how the progress the story with this Bond.. True, none of the other Bonds (in the movies atleast) never really tied in to each other, but you could see them evolve. In the books the backgrounds tie in together more.


Really, if you read the books, with the newer spin offs, the James Bond universe is HUUGE, and VERY confusing, but also very interesting. The storys and background/past info is amazing.

I'd never say anybody is greater than Connery, but I'm laughing at all the "craignotbond.com" flammers.

Craig is one of my favorites now, the movie and his whole no-nonsense attitude/whit was just awesome to watch. It felt like the past few Bond movies had way too much self-mockery, and it was really nice to see this film take itself more seriously while keeping the humor alive.

Awesome fking movie, and yeah, the torture was reallllllllllllllllllly hard to watch for me. Movie was kinda long, but it was almost entirely awesome so I really didn't care. Can't wait for the DVD.

For the average movie going audience Connery is the definition of Bond more or less, so it would be hard to be "better" then him to the average viewer. I really liked his performance but the verdict is still out until I see him in a second movie, more specifically one where his whole persona is defined, since a big part of this movie was the effectively the process of watching him develop into the Bond we know and love.

I think Brosnan sucked as Bond. Goldeneye was the only good one he did. Sean Connery and Roger Moore were the Bond gods. LOL @ George Lazenby and Timothy Dalton.

Aside from that, Craig did a pretty good job as bond. The ending actually gives some depth and bredth as to why he's a stone cold badass that has no emotional attachment to women.

The recent James Bond movies have been missing one thing though: Signature henchmen/bad guys.

Where are people like Nick-Nack, Odd Job, The Jaws, Auric Goldfinger, Fransisco Scaramanga, Mr. Kidd & Mr. Wint, and Max Zorin?

I think it's safe to agree that aside from Bond's badassness, the other half of the greatness that constitutes Bond movies are the cool and creative badguys.

All the Bond movies since Brosnan have had some of the most dry and boring bad guys a movie can have. Casino Royal's bad guy kind of sucked too. (whoop tee doo his tears are blood).

Overall great movie though, especially after having to sit through the last Bond movie.

As someone who has read Casino Royale as well as several other Ian Fleming books I have to say Daniel Craig is definately a better bond then Connery if only because he portrays bond the way he was meant to be portrayed. Sean Connery is a great actor and was fun to watch in the old bond movies and really made the character for a lot of people, but the fact is the way he defined it was not the way Fleming originally intended bond to be. Again its hard to understand if you haven't read the books, and the only way you really know the character is the way Connery portrayed him.

The problem is most people haven't seen all the movies, personally, my favorite bond/bond film is Dalton/Living Daylights. I don't like Brosnan, I think Roger Moore makes an ass of himself-- but it works for him. Connery only has one good movie in my opinion: Goldfinger.

People default to Connery "being their favorite Bond" nine times out of ten. And I ask them to name one movie of his and I get "Uhhh.."

I can't blame or fault people for saying what they say, after all it's their opinion-- people are closeminded and bullheaded, it's their loss. I used to be like that too; still am in some aspects.

At the moment, I like Craig and Dalton most,. And I'm sure over time, I'll probably change my opinion. Personally I like the Bonds that stay true to the character-- I don't need my Bond to look dashingly handsome, or to make a mockery of himself (see Brosnan and Moore). In my opinion, dalton, craig and connery catch Fleming's Bond best.

For the record, Lazenby's On Her Majesty's Secret Service is regarded as one of the better Bonds in the series. Give them all a fair shot. I personally love Living Daylights because of the 80's theme, and Living Daylights has the best intro of any other Bond. IN MY OPINION

Personally I thought he was an atrocious Bond, and for the most part how good the movies were defined by the villains more then him. Especially in the case of fight scenes Roger Moore was *awful* at them.

I thought the movie was very good, and Craig is leaps and bounds above Brosnan in my book. Something pointed out to me by other people was that Brosnan never really got beat up to the point of having bruises, scars, etc on his face after fights (not sure if its true, but after them saying it, it seems true) where Craig did. I thought he did the persona very well, and the only time I thought his voice sucked was his first line (seemed like he was trying to imitate Connery's voice).

I've heard a few people say he looked much too muscular and like a body builder, but I thought it suited someone who was able to kick ass, and it's not like he was a mass of muscle either. Anyone have input on that?

Daniel Craig never struck me as James Bond, in the commercials he looks just too much like a poster boy than a secret agent to me, and fuck no @ anyone being a better bond than Sean Connery...there's just no way lol.

I never thought Brosnan was a great Bond, the relationship with him and Moneypenny was totally the opposite of what Connery/Moore/Dalton did, and i liked how they did theirs alot better, cause Moneypenny was portrayed as more of an independent woman out of Bond's reach in those movies, and she was a better character...as opposed to Brosnan's Bond who had Moneypenny in the palm of his hand, where she was literally infatuated with him. I felt the subtle "hot for each other" relationship the pre-Brosnans bond had with Moneypenny, it was more suave and believable for James Bond.

The Q that died before Brosnan's 3rd installment (i think) was such a great character, always acted superior to Bond and i think every Bond played that part off very well...no matter how suave or street smart he was, in Q's world he was always in the dark. He was a constant comical appearance in most bond movies.

The movie, while based on the original story, is set in the present.

They took certain liberties with the story, but I thought it was really an amazing movie. They probably could've cut 20 minutes off the movie and made more people happy (my g/f thought it dragged, I didn't care I just wanted to see more Bond), but even she enjoyed it.

At one point she said that some of the lines from Bond were corny, to which I replied, "honey..its James Bond."

I thought Connery was the pinnicle of sexiness, Moore was a joke, Dalton was fine, Brosnan was great for the self-mocking movies that were made, but Craig has really redefined Bond as someone everyone should like. For a little while it looked like Jason Bourne was going to become the ass-kicking spy of choice, but I feel that Bond has safely reclaimed his throne.

George Leazenby doesnt get to wear the title "Bond" from 1 piece of shit movie, nobody in their right mind believes "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" was a good bond...he's probably in a pub right now drinking his sorrows down, telling people how they never realized how good he was. I'm not saying the Roger Moore movies were bad, just that he played Bond as if it was some sort of a joke.

I really really really hate how some actors feel that because of the nature of the character, they can't play the role seriously.

Not really a spolier, but when Craig delievered the line "That last hand nearly killed me" when he returns to the table, he said it in a way that was entirely believeable, whereas someone like Moore would've made it a joke. Whit vs. embarassment.

I just really liked how Craig actually gets bloody, gets cut up, etc.

BTW, I thought Daniel Craig was a good James Bond. I actually rate him up there. If I had to rate the Bonds:
