Anyway, near the end of Casino Royale, who is the dude that wears the glasses with only one sunglass? Was it Le Chiffre? I really didn't understand who he was. We all know he gets shot in the torture chamber, but maybe that was just a ruse? The weird sunglass dude had the sunglass over the same eye that Le Chiffre had fucked up.
He's an 'agent' working for Mr.White.Originally Posted by Daahan

I will agree that this Bond movie did not have a particularly great villain (I'm not even sure who would be called the villain), but Goldeneye had one of the best villains in the series, and that was a Brosnan Bond. Clearly it's a personal choice, but I would put 006 Alec Trevelyan as my second favorite Bond villain behind Scaramanga (yes, I did like him more than Goldfinger). I also thought Elektra King from TWINE was a nice twist and played the role. I don't know if Die Another Day poisoned your whole view of the Pierce Brosnan era, but you're cutting it a little short.Originally Posted by Daahan
I liked this movie in general and I like the darker direction that it headed in, but I hope the next movie returns to the general Bond layout of bedding two women a movie en route to a climactic showdown with the big villain. I'm not sure how you keep that new and exciting but there's people that get paid to figure that out.
TWINE did. I liked the first two, but I thought this was a good new direction. the only thing that was really too "un-bond" for me was the abcence of Q, they don't need a invisible car or anything, but give me a shoe phone or something.Originally Posted by Pwulp

I really hope they -don't- go back to the old Bond formula of flashy cars, ridiculous gadgets, etc, as I really liked what I would call a believeable Bond over the invincible Bond of the past.
Those gadgets are all retarded anyway. "Oh look how convienant that Q gave me this gadget that perfectly comes in handy in this one in a lifetime situation and never again."
Yeah dude, I thought the exact same thing at first. I thought it was another Ruse to get the money back once he had decided Bond wasn't going to tell the password.Originally Posted by Daahan

Not counting the dumb Brosnan movies, the gadgets that Q gave 007 never made him invincible. What's wrong with a pen gun or a mini-helicopter.
Iam Flemming meant James Bond to be a unique British Secret Service agent. Unique meaning he used unconventional methods to do his job. The gadgets, the humor, the charm, the wit, the jokes, and overall badassness are what constitutues James Bond.
I understand how you like how the new James Bond is more realistic and human. I like the movie too, but James Bond is supposed to be almost superhuman. That's what makes his kickass-o-meter reach maximum
Personally its the whit that makes me love Bond the most, so I guess thats why I like Craig so much. I thought he delivered the lines so perfectly and the overall movie was more serious, so it was a blending of both worlds to me.
"That last hand nearly killed me" was the best example I saw in the movie of classic Bond one-liners, and I dunno, just the way Craig said it made it both funny and badass at the same time.
I like Craig, but whats wrong with a lazer pen or high frequency cufflinks? I can understand the invisable car being a bit much, but if you don't like Q you might as well say.

The super car battle in Die Another Day was the height of stupidity in Bond films.
I agree about the Die Another day car, but what you said here, I don't agree with, it's part of what makes Bond cool.Originally Posted by Xavier

I freaking loved the movie, even the torture scene (I remember being in absolute agony, then laughing really fucking loudly for like 5 seconds when he gave that line about scratching his balls, then immediately going back into pain).
Only thing that annoyed me was that not only did Judi Dench play M, the agency was called MI6, when it should have been called MI5.
God I love that part so much. AAAAAAHHHHH TO THE RIGHT, TO THE RIGHT FUCCCK
I agree with the gadgets part, I'm all for a believable and more gritty Bond. I wasn't a fan of the retro Aston Martin though, so I'm hoping they go back to the flashy cars.Originally Posted by Xavier
My favorite line from Casino Royale was after Vesper gives Bond the defribillator, then he snaps up and sees her and asks, "Are you alright?" Classic Bond machismo, I loved it.
Meh, this movie is too hard to place on where it really should be.Originally Posted by Mrcloudz

Im just thinking they took the CR book and updated everything, but that doesnt explain why he doesnt have any gadgets. Its kinda hard to understand which aspects are current, and which are sposed to be old.
they also mention 9/11 in the movie
Quite frankly I was hoping for the movie setting to be in 70s-80s. I think it would have been a nice twist and a little more classy.
Same here. It's supposed to be a prequel, and we all know it didn't take Bond until after 9/11 started for him to get promoted to 00 status...Originally Posted by Daahan
Well like they said. It was a Bond reset, basically.
I think the movies from this point on will have a more gritty feel to them. But of course they will add the things people can expect from Bond.
Q, and his hi-tech stuff.
Super-Villains.
But I think they will keep them more realistic.
Which I think is a great idea.
