Ah, after skipping over this thread a millions times because i haven't watched it, i finally watched it. Craig was a great actor, but the fact that while on scene, he couldnt drive the aston cuz it ws a stick and he cried over getting punched makes him a god damned pussy. Oh, and i like brosnan, but i like a lot of brosnan movies (<3 <3 <3 <3 The Thomas Crown Affair). It seems most of the praising of craig is due to the writing/script. Connery still takes the cake though.

If this post is all truth... it sours me a little on Daniel Craig. I could understand not knowing how to drive a stick before doing the movie, but it's messed up if he didn't take the time to learn when he's playing JAMES BOND. He's been instantly secured a place in cinema history and he was too lazy to learn how to drive a manual car? That's a lot worse than crying over getting punched, although that's pretty weak too.

    No.

He didn't know how to drive a stick so he had to learn. People made a huge deal out of it because "wtf lol the new Bond can't drive a stick" when they found out, but he got around to it.

He didn't know how to play Poker either so they had to teach him too.

I'm sure most people would cry over a hit to the face.

Connery also told Barbra Walters its okay to hit women, so hes obviously a mans man and immune to pain.

As long as he learned I don't see what the big deal is.

I have not yet seen proof that he cried when he got punched in the face, all the news reports just say that he got his two front teeth punched out. And I have seen a few people get punched in the face and none of them have cried (granted none of them lost their two front teeth either), so I stand by it being pretty weak if he did cry.

Not knowing how to drive stick at 40 is pretty sad. About the getting punched in the face thing though it could have been built up through the media. It's a known fact that when you get hit in the nose your eyes will water, I'm assuming this is what happened and some media guy saw a picture of it and went "OMG DANIEL CRAIG IS CRYING LIKE A LITTLE GIRL"

It's not ok to hit a woman if you're still in high school. One swing, and you're surrounded by kids who think they'll get some for protecting a stranger. Any other time is fair game.

I absolutely loved the Thomas Crown Affair, but it felt like he was playing James Bond for adults, lol. That whole movie had a really awesome flow to it, sexy etc.

I agree that the writing/script was really well done in Casino Royale, but a bad actor with a good script still would've made a crappy movie. The fact that Craig is actually a good actor benefited my perception of him a lot. I'm sure if it had been Craig with a crappy script I would've blamed it on him (Craig) for it sucking instead of the writers.

It doesn't hurt that the screenplay for Casino Royale was partially worked on by Paul Haggis, who won Academy Awards for helping to write both Million Dollar Baby and Crash.

Everyone in the audience laughed when he said that, I agree lol, classic Bond there.

I dunno, it felt like Casino Royale was a smart, sophisticated, funny thriller that really gave some insight into who Bond was. It was nice to watch a man be shaped into a killer rather than just watching him being perfect all the time. Craig made mistakes, which I guess made him feel more human, whereas previous Bonds were basically perfect and infalible.

Watching him try and make the choice to give up the life of being a 00, to live a normal life only to painfully learn he can't really go back from what he has become was just powerful to watch.

I wouldn't really spend a lot of time trying to figure out the Bond universe, just enjoy the movies, its all a work of fiction anyway.

The one thing that was strange for me (I loved this movie btw)

When M is trying to tell James that his woman wasn't all bad, she tells him "Why do you think that you weren't killed?" (in the interrogation room) She made a deal for your life in exchange for the money.

...um, if they killed him, they wouldn't have had the password to get the money. Her 'she really did love bond' "deal" is meaningless.

lol, the thrills in the movie plus the big "james bond" title covers up for a lot of plot holes here, not that i'm really complaining

for instance, i still don't really see why he had to win the card game

So le chiffre's wouldn't be able to pay his investors and thus making them want to kill him.

How about.......why didn't the CIA grab Le Chiffre after the game?

I mean, Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright) is clearly badass...

Did you miss the part where the CIA guy (the black guy--is he Jeffery Wright? fuck if I know) was actually with Le Chiffre?
