nice try, but it'll take more than this to even begin to fix a 2year problem.

Yeah, traded 1 evil for another. Any LS and their mother think they can come to ulli now so its still as packed as ever!
RMT back on Phoenix =(
their "Ban" was probably a lunch break
Gilsellers back on Midgardsormr! It was probably Mao Zedong Day in the People's Republic, or something, what a disappointing coincidence =(
I don't know if you guys were unlucky but Gilgamesh's Ulli Crew is still missing. I didn't check if new BLMs were leveling already though.
Yesterday, none of the gilsellers that are normally on were nowhere to be found, except for an occasional Cutekity here, or an Xmf, Xmc, etc. storage/AH character there. In fact, I think someone in my Linkshell said that at Simurgh, all of the gilsellers disconnected and never came back. But when we all got on today, every single one that we thought was gone, came back. I know there's still a few days to wait and see what any possible outcomes are, but it isn't looking like much will change except for a sudden deflation from all of the people thinking that there will be a huge deflation and loading/undercutting the AH with their crap and noone to buy because people are expecting deflation!
Ya I know the pic's are old, was just emphasizing how they did another set of bannings and that group has still gone untouched. Not like SE hasn't had plenty of background to see how these guys operateOriginally Posted by Krandor
SE designed a HNM Hydra, so they should understand what they have to do.
RMT's work in three camps.
First camp buys accounts in bulk, levels them quickly with a skeleton staff, positions their characters, then cancels the IDs. A dormant account has no upkeep.
Second camp has active players that know how to fight HNMs. They possess only the gear, exp, and characters required to defeat the HNMs, because once the receive the LM-11/17, the account vanishes.
Third camp has the gil. They diversify their coffers as much as possible in the event that SE researches who the RMT mules are.
These three camps network together in various ways. The key, as IGE&friends are discovering, is to discover SE's research methods and avoid detection. If RMT can protect its assets from SE, then RMT can stay in business. Remember, RMT has a corporate mindset so the bottom line is the only one that counts.
Here are a few methods that SE may be using:
Entrapment
Method 1:
Task force member creates an account, then poses as a gil supplier to a RMT vendor. Task force member meets with the in-game contact and sells the RMT character some gil. Task force notes the character name, researches the account, runs a log parser to discover gil/item trades and overlapping credit card ownerships, and conducts a search-tree on the leads. All related parties are moved to LM-11/17.
Method 2:
Task force member creates an account, then poses as a gil buyer to a RMT vendor. Task force member meets with the in-game contact and solicits a purchase. Pattern of research follows Method 1.
POS Research
Tier 1 GMs fill a database with suspected botters and POS hackers. Enough reports warrant research from a senior GM. Human attention inevitably discovers the foul play buried in logs, and the top offenders receive LM-11/17. Remember, GM research requires staff, labor, and payroll money; calls to GMs cost SE money. The current attitude assumes that GM calls will decline if visible RMTs go away. Remember the corporate attitude: the bottom line.
I suspect that RMT is responding to these methods by insulating their three camps from interacting with each other, to avoid circumstantial evidence. In addition, RMTs may have researched methods to launder their sources of gil to protect the individual gilsellers (read: crafting). These methods may take the form of trading items rather than gil, in an effort to obscure the evidence of RMT activity. Another method has been mentioned on this thread: IGE lists most/all of the servers as "out of stock," but advertise prompt service once the restock occurs. IGE may take this "restock" time to research their customers, and run checks to minimize the risk of entrapment. In addition, this stopgap exists to check against both Method 1 & 2 of entrapment, which is evident not only by the "out of stock" messages, but by the curious unwillingness of IGE to buy gil from web users. Try selling IGE gil--see how far you get.
RMT is a serious business and very organized--you had better bet that they have some way to make the "empire" of RMT "strike back." E-terrorism at its finest.
Couldn't help but chuckle at that, just a tiny bit. ^^Originally Posted by Kanodin

Despite the lack of visible bannings on Asura, IGE is out of stock and preorders for 1m spiked up to $50... LOL
Deflation here is crazy
I am hoping that its not another month before more rmt accounts are hit being that would give them ample time to keep recovering after each and everytime they get banned.
Wow. The RMT were gone from Sky all day Friday on Siren. Then yesterday my Sky LS went to go camp Ullikummi, and they started showing up.
most of the known rmt groups on gigglemesh are gone but still alot are around. and as for the whole ige thing... Mtv ran this show called MTV News Goes Big Gaming. Towards the End of this Episode about the Wii and Ps3 they have like a behind the scenes look into "Gold Farmers/GS".
They show the Gs/GF in there houses playing computers , it shows them get depressed lol when they get accounts banned, and they mention ige as there primary gil buyer a few times i think. I cant find the clip online , ive looked but if anyone is interested in it the whole Gs/Gf part is at the end of the clip heres the guy that talks about it. Anyway this maybe old news someone could have mentioned it before.

I just read the article and watched the video and I can't wait for his documentary. It looks like it will be really interesting. Also the one part that particularly pissed me off was the interview with former IGE pres. His quote, "We don't exploit our workers." really gets to me. Oh and LOL at the Chinese workers saying, "We only need a little space." "Legit" players have every right to that space if not more then they do, so it's pretty arrogant of them to think that way.Originally Posted by Synergy1

The video is connected to a link on the 4th or 5th paragraph of the article. It's also listed under the videos section on the right.Originally Posted by Synergy1
And yeah 9 billion is pretty rediculous, but I think FFXI makes up a very small portion of that. I was reading the article and remember seeing that Blizzard banned some 76,000 accounts related to RMT in October alone. >.>
ah i gotcha...
<<brain fart @ work..
Some guy in that "rmt" video was actually pleading that when you see a chinese goldfarmer you should give him some space and he won't disturb you at all.
Its like they have it the complete other way around and 100USD a month has them brainwashed. But they all sleep sound on their company floor anyway "as its not immoral" what they're doing according to their point of view.
Wish MTV made a video of frustrated people who encounter these space-requiring morally just goldfarmers.
