Hmm, on Odin at least though, doing a /sea all 14-15 right now shows some suspect names and amusing pt setups. So they're busy... let's just hope that it becomes more and more difficult as time goes on.

I personally think that it'd be hilarious if IGE got sued because of false advertising, since on many servers they obviously seem to be out of gil atm.Originally Posted by Kuropiko
I agree that'd we should wait a few days, but like someone mentioned before 9000 accountds are a lot to perma ban. So these bans most likely have taken place over the last several days. Outlook seems to be good and maybe SE is finally doing something. Hopefully that if they manage to keep this up then maybe RMT will finally give up and go somewhere.
Siren's next generation of RMT blms are already doing Genkai 3 as we speak. A few stragglers are camping CC, from there they're likely to stick to jeuno NMs since they can't zerg ulli at present.
I think they anticipate bannings and level new generations in waves ahead of time, this group has been levelling in order to replace what they lost in sky from the last banhammer.
i was getting scared there, thought RMT might've killed/be fighting there first king on our server.Originally Posted by Daemonxel

I wonder if the RMT that killed Charybdis for me a while back are gone, they had a pretty big monopoly on the NMs in SSG a few months back. Although I don't think any legit players spent time trying to claim against them. too bad I didn't get the chance to steal a Siren's Hair... LOL
I don't think RMT will ever completely give up on FFXI. I don't think there is a single MMO out there that doesn't suffer from the RMT problem in some shape or form. What can happen though is it will become more bearable. Right now they have a stranglehold on virtually everything in the game that makes some form of money; NMs, Sky, Sea, Dynamis, crafting etc to the point where it's actually cockblocking legit players in the game. What SE can do it make it managable - gilsellers will still be there but they won't hold the monopoly they hold right now. By nuking their coffers and accounts it becomes less profitable for the gilsellers.Originally Posted by Deuciont
It's a good start, clearly documented on IGE et al. SE just need to keep at it.

And to those saying 45 B is not that much, when you put it in the perspective of relative price level now compared to previous ban periods, it's definitely significant.
(Dusk Gloves 3.8 M > 2.1 M, etc)
Funny thing is though (and I missed pop yesterday) unless they held Behemoth for a long, long time his window closed 2 hours ago.Originally Posted by Daemonxel
45 billion gil is a lot. What make me wonder is what sort of thing that would do to the economy?
A bunch of mules with gil on them vapourized, but because gil farmers don't actually farm gil as far as I know, they farm items that they sell for gil. So the items that they've farmed and sold are still in the economy, but all the gil that normal people accumulated that bought those items is gone. To me it would seem that would have a weird artificial effect on the economy. It certainly looks like it would have payed off for people to have sold all their shit a couple months ago and bought them now, or a couple months from now with this new hit (Behemoth hides have gone from 4m to 2m in the past couple months, etc.)
LOL oops meant to say Siren's hair >.>Originally Posted by DoliantheBard

45B over 20 some odd servers really only comes out to ~2.5B a server, but that's still a lot. Especially with the prices of high end items on some servers. Hopefully a nice deflation is in store for the next few weeks.Originally Posted by Wolfgang

Odin is probably not a great representative of economy at least, seeing as we've had massive deflation already, and are currently bottom of the list on FFXIAH. Not sure how true it would be cross-server, but I'd predict a mild deflation on high ticket items, but - depending on if they hit the 24/7 crafters too, which I have yet to see on here - slight increase on consumables due to lower supply (silent oil, shihei, sushi, pie, etc).
Gonna post this now, its a work in progress, but I'm running out of momentum to finish it.

'Twas a month before Christmas, when all through Vana'diel
Not a creature was stirring, not even a dahamel;
The traps had been set by the NM's with care,
In hopes that evidence soon would be there;
The doubters were nestled all snug in their mog houses,
While nothing but bitching danced from thier mouths;
And mamma in her B. Haidate, and I in my Maat's cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,
When out on the official website there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bronze bed to see what was the matter.
Away with my windower I flew like a flash,
Tore open the mog house door and threw on my lolsash.
The rumours on the tongues of everyone online,
Gave the the impression that it may be SE's day to shine,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a massive banstick, and gil removal cheers,
A 4 year old MMORPG, with CGF issues of course,
I knew in a moment it must be the RMT Task Force.
Slower than snails thier coursers they came,
And they whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
"Now, Fgstd! now, Rihdf! now, Qwdyfx and Xrtshfn!
On, Sdhjf! on Kyrgsd! on, Rryfgd and Lkybfn!
To the top of Ro'Maeve! to the Gods, hall!
Now ban away! ban away! ban away all!"
As imperial tea leaves that before the hurricane wyvern fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, no route to the sky,
Anyone else wish that they'ld post lists of whom they've banned.
think all the gs on gilgamesh are gone o.o either that or their just not on atm which i doubt
