I didn't mean a "no effect" log mesage. I mean it actually has no effect (if he resists the status).

    If it says:

    Jeryhn casts Stun.
    The Dynamis Lord is stunned.

...he's not resisting the spell, or the effects of it. I've never heard of a spell landing and not having an effect.

    You've never had overlapping stuns?

    You're misunderstanding me.
There are three different log messages when it comes to enfeebling magic:

i've seen situations where dolls in sky are stunned, get the confirmed message, and yet still finish their meltdown move.

Dolls animation is very slow.. it doesnt actually register as a move untill half way through animation. so that's just a silly glitchy thing.

I don't know if DL was the best example for resisting stun, since 90% of the Dynamis-Xarc interlopers here have used chainstun to attain the title.

Technically there's a 4th. (Resist!) usually refers to Job Traits, like trying to slow a Beastmaster or SMN. "The Dynamis Lord resist the spell." outside of that would be like trying to stun Fafnir 99% of the time, it wont land. Same with KB, Kirin, etc due to immunity.

Well, that's what I was going for with the "(Resist!)" in the second one.

I've been stunned mid-cast before and still had my spell go through. Same thing for me and stunning monsters. Once again, the timing does have something to do with it, albeit these cases are quite rare.

I'm of the school of thought that status effects are elementally based.

Open up your WS list, and then tell me what color icon Smash Axe and Flat blade has next to it.

You can't base your facts on something that is merely resistant to stun, and not 100% immune.

Go guillotine or tachi gekko an air elemental, and tell me if you can silence it.

    Very wrong.

It's based on weapon skill of the attacker vs. magic skill level of the defender.

If you have a lvl 30 mandy interrupting your stoneskin (often) then you don't have capped skill or are using a subbed magic spell (i.e. your mainjob doesn't have skill in said school of magic). It's not damage based, as a T will hit me for 1 and interupt things that a EP crab critting me for 130 won't interrupt.

You don't interrupt XP mobs (while levelling) that much because they are VT/IT, same as a EP to 75 trying to interrupt you while you farm BS/KS. However, take note that at 75 in meripo you'll find VT/IT casters are much easier to interrupt...and the reason is because alot of meripo melee have their WS meritted.

I've never seen this happen via the Stun spell, but it is definitely the case with stun WS (Flat Blade, Whirl of Rage). If the stun effect wears prior to the action/cast timer ending, you won't get interrupted.

Stun will ALWAYS interrupt a spell under normal conditions. It doesn't matter if the effect wears off before the cast completes.

Sleep, on the other hand, is not guaranteed to stop a spell. If the mob wakes up before the cast would have completed, the spelll will go off.

I am very inclined to agree with this logic from a ninjutsu perspective.

While levelling ninja to 75, you'll find you only very rarely complete an utsusemi cast if you take damage during the middle 50% of the cast from a VT/IT mob; However, when tanking EP mobs, you'll find they can beat you up and you'll still cast it. I've also noted a marked difference now that my ninjutsu skill is merited.

Even more apparent... go use NIN as a subjob, you will literally never complete an utsusemi if you get hit by a high level mob with level 37 ninjutsu skill.

Could probably do some experimenting in ballista by adding / subtracting + combat skill items and + ninjutsu skill items, but I'm far too lazy for that.

I have no real evidence, but contrary to what most people think, I believe damage is a factor in interruptions. Just from soloing on rdm/nin, it seems the dmg reduction from phalanx and the partial reductions from a broken stoneskin seem to make all the difference. The way 0 dmg hits don't interrupt casting seem to support that also.

everyone knows that magic skill reduces interuption rate. the question is if damage affects interuption rate or is it skill only. I'm not sure about it but SAWS seems to interupt mobs less than multihit WSs so it seems to be purely skill vs skill and the more you hit the better

Damage doesn't matter when it's mob vs player so I would assume it doesn't matter on player vs mob. Probably just a random % based on your skill level vs mob's level.

As for stun WS's, again probably just a random...but some spells have very long cast times and the mob could be stunned and unstunned in the middle of casting.
