If I wanted a WoW-like system, I'd go play WoW.

What do you think you're doing when you skip kings, skip sky, and focus on limbus/dynamis/enm/bc/etc?

It's trying to avoid the major issues with ffxi by doing the stuff that is most similar to WoW, really.

Even upgrading a relic is very similar to certain popular things in WoW.

Fact is most of us play FFXI for our friends far and away more than anything. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Perhaps Ridills are designed for the most hardcore players, but "most hardcore" rarely equates to most skilled in FFXI. This is why people in FFXI with these top items don't get nearly the respect from their peers as those in WoW who possess top items.

wtf are you smoke'n... wow is just as much of a timesink as ffxi is when it comes to getting tier 2 sets, grand marshall sets... you have to do AV like 20+ times a week to ever have a hope of getting grand marshall.. and that equates into over 20 hours a week being at the computer...

not many people out there join a guild and go from level 1 noob straight into their tier 2 set without picking up some tier 0 and tier 1 first... the only way that happens is if you're a hot chick and cyber some hardcore dudes or know some hardcore ppl IRL...if you're on a new server.. not a chance in hell....................and you're still talking hours upon hours of grinding the same instances

don't forget how impersonal the wow environment is... people go afk far more often and in far worse situations than happens in ff. and they go perma-afk unannounced just as often..unless all you do is raid though.. which isn't all that much fun.. might as well rename the game "Raid-craft"

Grand marshal / high warlord means nothing in terms of skill... tier2/3 sets are debatable.

Getting T2 and 3 doesnt' have to be a grind. Good guilds can go from from ZG to Naxx in under 3 months if they are well coordinated, it's not the same type of grind as say getting a relic. If you are finding instances a real grind, chances are your guild has some slackers holding it back. I'm pretty sure if you put some of the top linkshells in WoW, they'd catch up and lead their servers in end game content without missing a beat. Also, some of the problems you mentioned in terms of honor grind via PvP are being fixed in the new WoW expansion.

Not to sound like a WoW evangalist, I play FFXI atm, but the itemization system in WoW is much better, especially in terms of deterring gilsellers from impacting the economy.

Biggest difference with gilsellers in the 2 games is in WoW I have no clue where the farmers get their money. I've had 300 (capped) Fishing/Herbalism/Skinning/Cooking/Alchemy and use them all for money (actually dropped skinning to make more money elsewhere), but I've never had a gilfarmer influence it in any bit at all.

I must be lucky on a good server, but I can go to awesome farming spots (for me), and get about 20-30g per hour (more with luck) and never see a soul. I think the sheer number of zones in the game contributes to that.

edit: I do want to add the whole "bind on equip" idea is completely brilliant. Also the 'durability' factor is a way to completely erase inflation.

Not really adding much but I did have to "lol" at this on one of the identikit gs websites

Recently, there is a great disaster for the account-banning for game FFXI, most RMT’s accounts got banned as well; it caused a strange pressure for purchasing from the market.

The odd sentace structure and "strange pressure" makes me smile, because god forbid the bannings actually hit the RMT!

They even link to the POL website so you can read about the bans as an excuse for thier raise in prices. Hope next month hits them hard again, anyway, you can get back to arguing why the game is broken again now. :D
