I think the best part of levelin NPC was that I could go anywhere especially places I wouldn't normally go. Why people go to the same places parties xp in is beyond me. It just shows they're too lazy to find level appropriate mobs for their NPC or they don't understand how the levels scale up.

People who level NPCs in common EXP spots deserved to be dropkicked in the balls.

The game made subjobs viable as a way to have lv75 ppl still grab their lv10 armor and exp something to sub their main, making exp together with newbies or other lv75s.
Exping subjobs is a way to try something new, fit in new roles (dd, tank, healer and such) and basically play together. now it looks everyone has become a spoiled kid who wants it *now* and without effort...

Funniest thing being powerlevelled BSTs for sure.
I hear you, after leveling that 5th melee job to 37, I find new and interesting things to do all the time.

I power leveled my WAR to 37 with my friend. After finishing the subjob in 3 days, I instantly regret it. Now I will never know the intracies of auto attacking and WS'ing at 100tp. I was going to get my MNK power leveled, but I think I'll really miss out on how the job works. When is it appropriate to AFK while attacking? Should I make an /as, /follow, /attack macro? Mysteries only revealed by having to rest inbetween pulls and not getting a powerlevel.

You're not missing out on anything. MNK is lame, you should just power level it to 37.

Even in "out of the way" areas, NPC levellers can be annoying in that BSTs also tend to try to find out of the way areas to XP in.

Not that NPC levellers are restricted like BSTs are, but when you factor in things like killing in a certain area under certain region control to get armor swaps...yeah...I had people razing Upper Delkfutts and such to the point where I couldn't XP there either.

Just not a very well thought out addition to the game, and primarily due to SE adding in the level grind for it. There's simply not enough room to have everyone in the game soloing at once.

Was BLU and COR to 75 with 2 PL bards. I guess I'm exempt from the PL 37 rant since I PL'd all the way to 75.

Person X and Person Y were the original party creaters; RDM and THF, both IRL friends living in the same house. No problem with this, as I do this with my roomates. However, Person Y (THF) was having uber connection issues *after* the party was made and while on the way to the XP camp. Person X (RDM) then became the party leader. So after about... thirty minutes of slow ass kills, since everyone was tired of waiting, Person X decides that he needs to go because he can't party without Person Y. He said he'd find replacements. Well, he did... he found us another THF... and then a MNK (how this replaces a RDM, I will never understand), who was also a gilseller. Very intelligent.

Sounds like your problem is less with statics and more with inconsiderate party leaders.

The only thing I know of that can MPK an NPC is the NPC itself, with Provoke.

P.S. I'm like 99% sure those eyes are larger than the Powerpuff Girls'. That is entirely too large.
i dont know you mpk an npc but i did it once on accident
i hit disengage after my first swing at a blm gob missed. npc hit it but disengaged since i did. gob sleepga me as 75 thf ;/
    i could only watch in horror as my npc just stood there taking a beating from it ; ;

NPCs caused a bit of crowding when they first came out and everyone was rushing to level them, that hasn't been a problem in like a year. Nowadays everybody uses them more or less the same way they would use a high-potion tank.

Also normally you either powerlevel your NPC as lvl 75 on mobs you can kill very fast (which means you can pick any mob you want in any area, without bothering anybody), or on something you were going to farm anyways. Unless you are just trying to solo some xp with the NPC as support, in which case you kill fairly slow anyways and you wouldn't sleep mobs or try to claim more than your share.

You could blame thf sub the same way, saying people didn't allow you to get xp because they were stealing all your xp mobs to farm bat wings and flint stones or whatever. But it's not about thf sub or npcs, it's about people trying on purpose to be disruptive or not caring about basic courtesy to others, they would be doing the same thing with or without NPCs.
Thank you for saying that. NPCs can't be called in ToAU regions, but for some reason we still have level 75 people climbing up on my parties that were trying to level on Lesser Colibiris. People do not need an excuse to be selfish and inconsiderate, they just do it for the sheer fun of it.

Last night I was leveling my second character's NPC. Instead of going to the usual spots, I leveled off of the demons in front of Castle Zvahl then I leveled off of Labyrinth Lizards and Rumble Crawlers on the second map of the crawler's nest where no sane person would ever XP because of links. The best part of leveling with an NPC is finding out-of-the-way areas that people almost never visit and making that place yours.

The best of both worlds would be a NPC assault where you could level your adventuring fellow in peace while earing special assault points that you could spend on equipment for fellows. /sigh

Lab. Lizards were excellent for NPC leveling. Skins & Eggs dropped like crazy... not to mention they died pretty easily. Occasional chest pops and being alone, ftw.

I never leveled NPC in traditional leveling spots.

Started off on East Altepa Gobbies, then Lab. Lizards, then Toramorai.

It's very easy to avoid standard XP parties... and BSTs for the most part.

Screw you! Those lizards and crawlers were my favorite xp camp while duoing.

Between the people working off weapon latents, gilsellers with NPCs, and people leveling NPCs - fuck Kuftal.
Good luck finding a robber crab in kuftal on some days.
I actually got my party to level off of lizards there because we couldnt xp chain on crabs because it meant trying to claim one like it was Amemet.

We need a rant about parties that like to chain lesser colibri for way to many fucking levels - chain6 for like 100xp is made of lose. I'm so tired of diremites and defoliators now...

This would be awesome, but I can understand why SE wouldnt do that. Finding a balance would be extremely hard, and a bunch of job couldn't do it. Nin+ npc healer is much stronger than brd+ any npc. Blm+ npc doesn't really work.

But again, since when did SE cared about balance
