In FF1 in the dungeon where you fight Kary. We made it half through the dugeon when the Fighter Thief and Black Mage all died. No raise itemes left. We had to run back on the WHM. One critical or two or so hits would have killed our WHM. Be he managed to run like he stole a bike. We made it out of the dungeon and to a town on just shear RUN. XD

That was epic. At least when I was young. Cause I didnt want to do that dungeon all over again. XD

shiny is just a distribution of ev/iv there were pokemon with the stats of shinys in red/blue but they just weren't colored differently.

ya the gyrados is shiny and the egg you get from the daycare has a 50% or something chance of being shiny. so i rode my bike around then when it hatched if it wasn't shiny i reset. i ended up with a shiny magby, which turned into a purple magmar ftw.
Don't forget the shiney ditto trick. Give the red gyarados mimic, trade it to R/B. Then find a wild ditto. Mimic its transform. It'll transform into you. Then transform into it and let it transform to you again. The game is glitched and it would get your IV's or something. Catch it and trade it back to g/s/c and you'll have a shiney ditto. You can breed it for shiney babies but ditto eggs take forever.
    Speaking of Shinies...

I caught 3 legit shiny Pokemon in less than a 24 hour period on my Crystal version back in the day. It was the last time I was going to start a new game before R/S came out, so I decided to actually hatch my Togepi. Didn't look any different from what I could tell, but the first time I sent it out it had the shiny circle blink. I was surprised to say the least.

Later that same evening I made it to the breeding center where you get the egg that has a higher chance of being shiny than normal, and I got a shiny Smoochum out of that. THEN, the following day, when they had the bug catching contest, I ran into a shiny Butterfree and caught that (only got 3rd place for it > ). I keep forgetting how rare shinies are, and I didn't particularly care for any of those 3 so they kinda just went in the box.

I always got pissed at that video of someone doing the same in 1:13...
I beat it in under 2 hours, but I only had 98% of the items. I think I was missing two missile containers, never figured out where they were.

There's nothing better than going through every single area of this game scanning every wall with the X-Ray Scope...

I don't remember if there are little dots on the map where items are hidden in this one, that helps a lot too in Metroid games.

Now i want to do it again to beat 2 hours lol. >.>

If you mean that video on 'speedemosarchive' i loved that video. after i watched it i went through metroid prime trying to see if all his little tricks were legit. I haven't tried to go through fast yet, but i was psyched when i was able to morph bomb myself through those metal bars.

Yeah that one from speeddemos, but it was Super Metroid and not Prime. Super's record for 100% is 1:13 i think. I loved Prime & Echoes but i didn't really beat them like 30 times like Super to go for the best timer. That 1 hour run for Prime on speeddemos was still impressive though.

    - Finished the Game Gear Sonic II with all the Chaos Emeralds. Not sure how hard it really is, but when I was around 10 or 11, that was damn hard. The second level hang glider emerald lives in my nightmares.
Holy shit that game was fucking cheap. The boss levels had absolutely 0 rings and some bosses, like the first one, were offscreen so you couldn't see what the boss was doing until it was too late.

As for my accomplishments, these were all on the Genesis or NES or PC, none of that pansy SNES crap. Sega does what Nintendon't, remember?

Leveled every character to level 99 in Lunar 2 (Sega CD version). I spent hours hunting down those Ice Pups that gave some ridiculous amount of experience.

Somehow glitched Jurassic Park (Sega CD) so that I had every single item in the inventory, and the guns had infinite ammunition. To this day I still have no idea how I did it.

Beat Shining Force 2 in one sitting, as the backup battery in the cartridge was dead. No saves for me.

    Beat Double Dragon, NES version.

Beat Double Dragon 2. I abused the fuck out of that knee move.

Got past the third level in Battletoads.

Beat Taz-Mania for Genesis. The mine cart level still lives on in my nightmares.

Beat Silpheed (Sega CD). That game was pretty damn brutal...there was no "Easy" setting. It was nice enough to give you an extra continue if it glitched up, though

Counter-Strike, as_oilrig. I somehow managed to go 43-0 on that map (CT), and this was with pretty shitty hardware - I was running at 640x480 using a serial mouse...

MathBlasters, 286 PC, ancient CGA graphics: Dominated the high-score list on my school's LAN. Nobody could even hope to get close to me.

I guess my two most proud video game moments are as follows:

I beat MGS2 on whatever mode means if you're spotted, you lose, without radar, on the hardest mode...

...without attacking anyone except for bosses...

...and during the boss fights, only KOing them. Punch/kick and tranqulizer darts. I think the only person that died the entire game is the guy flying in the chopper that I had to use the rocket launcher on. This was hard.

    But not as hard as...

...beating Contra for NES. Without dying. Fuck the Konami Code - I only need one life.

Hehe that reminds me of that time i managed to glitch Ikari Warriors on Atari 520ST to god-mode, never found out how it happened. That's the only play i ever got that far in the game and didn't even have a chance to see the end thanks to thunder that cut the power off. This game was damn hard, at least it seemed to me it was just impossible to complete when i was a kid.

Dungeon Master was damn long too, and i never could beat the sequel, Chaos Strikes Back. This game was too fucking hard... Dungeon Master II was trash, i stopped playing with due to extreme boredom (but that was many years later on PC).

Rick Dangerous I and II, Nebulus Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (point & click one), R-Type I, many many hard games on that comp asking you hours and hours or trial and error to get to the end...

I don't know how i managed not to think about Atari games, now i feel nostalgic.

Indalecio isn't that hard w/o limiter. Just do the CoT till you get armbands and other good shit for everyone so you can resist his shit and give it your all. I beat him a few times, with claude/rena/dragon guy/bowman and another time with claude/rena/opera/reporter chick. It's not hard if you have stuff that'll stop him. Opera's alpha thing is good cause it'll always get him and the rest just beat him when he stops from getting hit.
Never tried, but can the same be said of Indalecio, Limiter Off, in Universe Mode? Last I checked not many had beaten him sans blood armor.

Holy crap, Ikari Warriors. I had that for the NES, and it had the LONGEST levels of any video game I've played to date. I managed to get to the fourth level....only to get stuck behind a wall, with no possible way out. That game was literally impossible to beat without knowing the continue code

Yeah only there wasn't a continue code on the Atari version that i know of.

Just looked for a vid of it on Youtube and saw how the NES version was like, holy crap i was shocked at how the Atari version had better graphics and music lol. Now i cry that my Atari doesn't work anymore... Gotta find an emulator. xD

Wow I never knew about that Shiny Ditto thing, that's kind of broken lol so cheap ;p. Pokerus I saw two people who had gotten it at the Pokemon Center so lucky.... I never encountered it though. I miss living in NYC and being able to go to the pokemon center lol, got my Celebii there and it pwned so hard.
