I heared the PC version doesnt play vocals in "One Winged Angel" on the last battle, is that true?
If it is I'd just play PS1 version for that, one of the best boss themes ever imo.

I beat the game once on PS and then again more completely on PC, and I noticed no real changes, though they were a couple years apart when I played them.
PC version is fun to hack the hell out of it. Playing as Seph ftw

PSX emulation is FAR better than the PC version. Higher resolution, save states, speed changing, better sound/music, almost no glitches, rumble support, ect.
PC version: limited to 640x480, uses lolMIDI music, sound blows, buggy as hell even with patches on any PC remotly new/decent, uncapped FPS on the minigames(try doing the bike race at 999 fps...), have to run some stuff on teh CD, so it's going to take longer to load than using an image for emulation, ect.
I use ePSXe myself. You'll need plugins, BIOS files and such to get it working.
Breaking news: All the music except 'one winged angel' from FFVII PSXwas MIDI, it's just that the PSX sound system had far superior sound samples in the hardware to play those MIDIs than most wavetables provided by default in a consumer Windows sound install.
But yeah it was kind of a half-assed port.
It's working fine, lol at 640x480 on a 19" widescreen though.
Just done the long-ass flashback section/cutscene with Sephiroth after leaving Midgar. I'm loving it so far.
Wasn't actually purely MIDI PSF.Originally Posted by Correction

Seems like PSF is simply the format used to exact-rip soundfiles from PSX games, not the format used to internally represent the music on game discs. Games like Wipeout, IIRC, used Redbook audio.
