Easiest way to survive it, imo, is with a Corsair.
Throw up Magus' Roll, Shell IV/V & get over 1800hp & you should be fine.
Gonna go out on a limb and call bullshit on the flat blade stunning it.
I've survived this on my budget nin/drk first try - on lightsday even. Osode, carol, Pluto staff and Mermans rings/earring.
Someone from my limbus shell said it was possible to stun CB if the timing was right (just when he switches from 1 to 0), but we didn't get a chance to try it out.
I tried chainspell stunning it once. It delayed the 0 count, but when it got unstunned it still did Citadel Buster.Originally Posted by fumbletweed
And surviving citadel buster on RDM is easy. I've come out of one with more than 1000 hp's remaining before. (I do make sure to wear as much MDB gear as possible, +hp gear, and eat +hp food, make sure Shell is up, and a fresh Stoneskin)
Last Omega I went 4/5. The one time I died was when I only had like 900-1000 HP towards the end. Whats really funny about this fucker is 2-3 times he followed up with a Holy II, convinced he could kill me. Go go pld/nin
I think Beecher survived it with 2 HP once![]()
I know our PLD (Sirlancelot >.>) can take it easily np... maybe it's the Aegis.
But it would seem that it could be stunnable with Flat Blade, maybe with impeccable timing you could get it off, since CB does have a countdown. Could take a few tries though, worth a try, imho.

Stunning it would function just like stunning Bahamut's flare moves, it would only delay the move coming out, but would do nothing to stop it.Originally Posted by Goddess
pretty hard to die to CB when you're a shitty tank and cant get hate to begin with...amirite?

and yes, the Aegis and that 25% Magic reduction might help just a bit against a magic based move...
a blm in my ls accidentally ran just out of range at the right time and it got a too far away message
Screenshot? And did it just go off again after drawing him in?Originally Posted by Immortaldonut
I've never seen or tried it but I have heard from multiple sources that you can run out of range like that
ya i heard those rumors also, i think it has to do with the buster being started on someone(stays on one person right?) then someone else pulling hate, then he will just keep drawing that new person in with hate, instead of the person he's counting down on.
Anyhow, i know my old ls used to go full hp food, and a blu giving diamondhide? to himself and the pld, pld would live easily with 400+ hp left, and he doesn't have aegis, and only 1700ish hp.
buster can change target from its initial countdown...
Cant find screenshot being at work but...
We have had people run out of range of Citadel Buster twice...
Proto Ultima readies Citadel-Buster.
Blehblhe is too far away....
I guess having auto-run on and 12% movement made them get far enough away just as it readied it doubt that its 100% reliable though probably was perfect timing
Yea its alot of timing though, if you run too early you just get drawn back in so yea. Tough to get out of range, but it is possible.
I don't have a screenshot but I've seen that happen to a whm. Odd thing was he got drawn-in, then "ultima readies CB...whm too far away" but he was still basically right next to it. And no, it didn't just go off again. Went back to normal then to next countdown after the regular amount of time.Originally Posted by Celeras
