No, it's because camping it is unreasonable for sane LS's.

edit: Ulli was being monopolized on Carbuncle by a player named Atwhite, even before the RMT entered sky. He made a killing off it. I had to camp vs him for my A-stones for my haidate, way back in the day. It's not a problem because people buy A-stones from RMT, it's a problem because the supply is monopolizable (this a word? lol).

Honestly, I don't know, Melchiah. You could try and camp there religiously and try to claim. Maybe then the CGFs will have some competition and you might get claim, maybe not. That's the whole point of "earning your gear". You work hard for it, therefore you deserve it. Don't give up so easily, keep trying.

Then don't complain about the CGFs. Simply put.

Ok. Now tell me how I combat tele-claim. For months on end.

Edit: What I'm driving at here is that I do not think it is quite so hypocritical to buy stones so you can gear your shell members and also complain about the situation. They will be there regardless of whether my shell buys their stones or not. The only way to get rid of them is through SE, but in the time it takes for that to happen, what am I to do for my shell members and myself?

Also, its bullshit that I would have to camp a mob for 16 hour periods to earn haidates for my shell and myself when Ulli used to pop like all the other triggers in sky. I'm gonna guess you already have your haidates and that is why you take your stance so haughtily.

I'm not going to lie to you but I already have my B. haidate, but I did not get em bought from CGFs. I busted my balls to raid a lot and acquired them with a point-system HNMLS.

I do understand your arguments, Melchiah. But understand this, would you rather undermine your principles or your dignity? It's your choice.

That does seem to be the question. Principles don't get my friends or I the gear we want though. Like I said earlier, the shop keeper pays his protection money to the mob for months on end so he can keep his doors open, all the while he is hollering to the FBI about what is happening to him. I don't see the situation as being so different from Ulli. The shop keeper has a right to see his business conducted reasonably without outside interference, just like I have a right to a reasonable chance at Haidates in a game I pay to play. I'm not saying I know the answer, I just think it unfair for Judai to say that people doing what they have to do to get their shell gear in a reasonable amount of time are the cause of RMT when that situation is in fact the result of the problem.

Principles allow you to keep your dignity and makes your stance on certain things firm. If you hate CGFs so much, then don't support. If you want gear and will buy triggers from CGFs, then you support CGFs. There's really no gray area on this topic. Choose which side you're one.

So wait, businesses that pay protection money support the mafia?

    I don't recall Ulli ever being a 2-4hr mob.

RMT aren't the Mafia. They don't threaten your in game lifestyle at all. They are more like a monopoly like the telephone comapny used to be and ISPs in some areas. They make sure they are the only way you can get a specific service and then rape you on the charges.

Stop calling RMT the mafia cause it's retarded. The mafia would extort, threaten and cause you harm if you didn't pay. The RMT just make it harder to get what you want. There is a big difference. If RMT could delete your char, then you could compare.

Judai you haven't been listening. Mobsters that ran protection rackets didn't have to resort to causing bodily harm to their "clients" who didn't pay up. That is way too easy to prove to the local law enforcement. Mostly what they did was break in and destroy a business's entire stock, or perhaps cause inbound shipments of stock to just "dissappear". Bodily harm was never the issue, it is their ability to disrupt one's day to day business. I'm tired of repeating myself on this point.

If you drive a car, you contribute to pollution, and speed up the eventual destruction of our planet. That said, the only reason that we are still driving petrol cars is because every logical and feasible option has been cock blocked by major petrol production companies. Along with this, the government is making money from fuel taxes, and failing to push for the mainstreaming of viable environmentally safe car options.

You are not forced to drive a car - you could take public transport everywhere, or just give up all activities that rely on you driving a car. After all, you dont NEED a car, plenty of people survive without one, right?

By your logic, Judai, people who drive cars should not ever complain that there is no viable option to a petrol car, nor complain that not enough is being done to stop the control of the marketplace by companies who stand to gain economically, nor complain at the inaction of the government body.

Real life is very comparable to the game, except that it is MUCH easier for SE to fix the problem than real life, and SE relies on its paying customers for the continued life of the product.

That is why people need haidates.

Skill > Gear only goes so far - when two people are of an equal or similar skill level, equipment is the deciding factor.
Again, there is a literal NEED and a logical NEED. You dont NEED to do anything in this game, you can sit in your moghouse all day and do nothing, if you want to. However, if you WANT to advance in the game, you NEED to achieve certain goals - whether they be equipment aquisitions, difficult kills, whatever. You dont LITERALLY need Byakko's Haidate, but in terms of FFXI, you NEED Haidate's to be the best monk/war/whatever you can be. You with haidate > you without haidate, hence you NEED haidate to be the best monk you can be.

You obviouslby have no idea what you are talking about. Kinda hard to argue with someone who read a wiki article and is an expert on the subject now.

Jesus. Do you really expect me to provide pages upon pages of documentation on the subject because I used it for a comparison in a video game forum? At the very least I provided some documentation for my comparison, while you sir deign to shoot it down and dismiss it as irrelevant by pulling information out of your ass.

Edit: Judai maintains the position that protection rackets operate by the sole threats of bodily harm or murder on it's victims. This is untrue, and simple logic will lead anyone to this conclusion. The idea of protection rackets is to coerce money from small businesses. If the criminals hospitalize or murder those business owners, they for damned sure can't collect any money, now can they?

That's not what I said. I said RMT do not operate at all like a "small protection racket" and cannot be compared to the mafia. Try reading. I stated that they do not interfere in your daily activites personally. They solely inhibit your ability to aquire certain items.

They do not eneter your mog house and toss out all your items, they do not actually come into your life and destroy it forcing you to pay them to stop. They in no way force you to do anything. It is solely your choice to pay them for the items. Dead lord.

I'm done tho, cause this is like totally retarded.

In all fairness 'protection rackets' are actually just the opposite of what they do. RMT do not leave if you pay them, RMT do not do any protecting or attacking, RMT do threaten for being in the same area as them, but they can't do anything. Seriously know what you are talking about before you talk about it, because this was comparing apples to cars (oranges would still be fruit and that's not even close to what RMT and protection rackets have in common).

'Protection racket' is just the label for the strategy where you impede or threaten to impede someone elses business for the sole reason of getting them to pay you money. Basically, you're asking someone to pay you money to solve a problem that you are willfully the sole cause for. It's a form of extortion.

That's what the RMT are doing. They're impeding your access to Byakko, and their purpose for doing so is not because they want to pop & kill byakko and get his drops. Their purpose is to restrict your access to Byakko, realizing that the demand for him is so high that people can and will pay them money for access if they control a big enough share of the triggers.

In essence, if you buy stones, they are now providing you the "service" of camping Ulli. But the fact is that you wouldn't need this "service" if they weren't up there 24/7, botting all the Ullis.

go and acheive all your other in-game objectives before haidate, by the time you've done everything else the situation will have been resolved.
rmt are happiest when people believe haidate is #1 priority for gear.
