I realize this wasn't really the focus of your argument, but your fact checking department needs a tune up.

Tennessee's last 3 games were at #11 Arkansas, at 4-8 Vanderbilt, and at home against unranked, 8-5 Kentucky. Their last game was on November 25, 36 days before their game against Penn State. Blaming anything on a lack of rest is a long reach.

I thought they played LSU, Kentucky, and arkasas (all bowl teams) back to back to back. my bad. They still played 3 of their 4 games against bowl teams before penn state. You think rest doesnt have anything to do with it...rofl. That's why prior to the ohio state game, michigan played lolnorthwestern, lolindiana, and lolballstate. Guess how many injuries they had going into the ohio state game...ZERO (and they played a PERFECT game, best they played all season). A well rested team is golden. When you go up against hard nosed bowl teams week after week after week in the SEC, you have no time to rest lagging injuries. Now, with the addition of alabama to soon become a premier program again, the SEC is commiting acts of cannibalism, practically eating their own conference alive.

No bowl team gets to complain about lack of rest after 20+ days.

Talking about being "beat up" or whatever going into a bowl game is stupid. People are either injured or not. Noone is tired or beat up.

We were talking about when tennesee played penn state. It was in the middle of the season. Before they played penn state, they had played against bowl teams 2 weeks strait, and 3 in 4 weeks. so, including penn state, they played 3 strait bowl teams, and 4 in 5 weeks.

Um .... Tennessee just played Penn State Jan 1 in the Outback Bowl. You must be thinking of a different game.

fuck, my bad, my fault, im stuck in last year. Glanced at the schedule and thought they play on 12/01. Im dumb as shit. None-the-less, argument was penns state isnt a really great team, my justification just fails. Hard.

I'm torn here. I want LSU to lose, so all the SEC fanboys get to see another of their cherished teams fail. Plus I picked ND in the bowl pick'em, but I'm not going to win that anyway. And I need LSU to lose for Wisconsin to have a chance at #4 in the final AP poll.

But I hate Notre Dame with a firey passion, with their based-on-tradition-only "powerhouse" bullshit program, and I think it would be hilarious if they went to a NCAA record-tying 9 straight bowl losing streak.

Man....so hard to pick....I guess I just want it to be really, really one-sided.

lol. Notre Dame has been overrated all year against Michigan and USC. I sense another LSU bowl game blowout like last year's Miami/LSU game. >.> Kinda feel bad for Brady Quinn though.

I did as well until I realized that in April he will be a multi-millionare when picked first by Oakland. My sympathy has long since left me =/

Very true, but that's the very reason I feel sorry for him. He has to go to a god-awful team that couldn't win anymore games if they were spotted points.

Edit: What did I say about a laugher? XD

2nd Edit: And it's basically over.

Notre Dame's bowl games since 1994:

    1994: Cotton -- Notre Dame 24, Texas A&M 21
    1995: Fiesta -- Colorado 41, Notre Dame 24
    1996: Orange -- Florida State 31, Notre Dame 26
    1997: Independence -- LSU 27, Notre Dame 9
    1999: Gator -- Georgia Tech 35, Notre Dame 28
    2001: Fiesta -- Oregon State 41, Notre Dame 9
    2003: Gator -- NC State 28, Notre Dame 6
    2004: Insight -- Oregon State 38, Notre Dame 21
    2006: Fiesta -- Ohio State 34, Notre Dame 20
    2007: Sugar -- LSU 41, Notre Dame 14

I sense a pattern. Average margin of defeat: 16.1 points.

Bolded for hilarity. It's one thing when they get over their heads in a BCS bowl, where they only get in because they had a good season and their Notre Dame, but when they are losing the Insight bowl and the Independence bowl...LOL.

That loss against Oregon State in 2001, and 2003 loss to NC State was pretty lol too.

Penn state is still riding last season, which btw, was incredible for 1 reason...they returned like 10 5th year seniors. Now all of them are gone, and they go into the dumps aside from playing a couple of decent games. Their premier QB carried them in those.
Michigan doesn't constantly blow big games...that's NDs job. Speaking of ND...didn't Michigan beat ND by like 430 points this year? And didn't Michigan beat Wisconsin this year too? And beat PSU at home at a night game in the 2nd biggest stadium and one of the loudest crowds in the country? Those sound like pretty big games.

Also, if you think PSUs QB carried them in ANY games this year you know absolutely nothing about PSU football. Morelli is a terrible quarterback, and his only "good" game was vs. Tenn. PSU was saved by their dominant defense and running game, in spite of their O-line being terrible because they are all rookies.

Wisconsin did extremely well, but look at that schedule, horrible. The big ten isn't great, and Ohio state's schedule wasn't that great either. The ranked teams on their schedule ended up laying some fucking eggs. Iowa ended up with like 7 loses, penn state played well in one game against a decent tennesee (who btw, played 3 bowl teams right before the penn state game, rested much?).
You calling Wisconsins scehdule horrible is hilarious only because you defended Boise's schedule. The Big 10 was not horrible. So far we're 2-0 vs the almighty SEC. A 6 loss Iowa team nearly beat the #2 team in the Big 12, and a 6 loss Minnesota team nearly beat another (although not so great) Big 12 team. No excuses for Purdue, they played shitty, but avoided Mich and OSU during the regular season so you can't justify them being bad as a bad point on the top Big 10 teams schedules.

The last "rested much" point has already been addressed.

Also, do you not find it funny that you seem to avidly support the BCS system but scoff at the fact i was trying to compare common opponets? Why do you think teams jump other teams in the BCS, someone's "common opponet" will blow some game to a weak ass team, and that drives their SoS down because their "common opponet" blew an easy game.

The reason i bring up the big east, is that because less than 2 months ago, there were 3 teams that could potentially go undefeated and next to NOONE was giving them love for a national championship bid. "Oh the OOC schedule isnt great". They were on the fucking verge of losing a BCS bid as a conference. Well, it turns out, the in coference schedule wasn't easy and louisville tried like hell to schedule tough OOC games. 3-4 years ago, miami and kansas state were really good teams. Now, jump two months ahead and the big east is 4-0 in bowl games and 2 of the teams are becoming juggernauts with 2 of the best coaches in football. One of those teams was a "mid-major" team out of conference USA just 2 years ago. So in two years, they go from mid-major to BCS bowl, and you don't think other mid-majors are capable of that? C'mon.
I don't avidly support the BSC system...I'd actually prefer a playoff, but I don't think it'll be that much different aside from the top 8 shifting around as you're thinking it would be. A 1 loss Wisconsin stilll deserves to be in there over an undefeated Big Sky or some crap conference team. Sure, once every few years a cinderella team comes up from the mid-majors to upset someone, but does that really justify a team with a much weaker schedule getting a playoff bid over someone else simply because they're undefeated while the other team didn't win their conference? FYI, Boise's strength of schedule is ranked #109.

And the common opponent argument is still weak. Teams play different games vs. eachother. PSU lost to ND big time, while Michigan beat ND big time. Naturally, you'd think that Michigan is 20x better based on common opponents. Whoops, PSU played Michigan pretty darn close in spite of their drastic differences in play vs. ND. Teams don't get dropped because they lost to some weak ass team who beat someone else...they get dropped just because they lost to a weak ass team. Otherwise USC wouldn't have been ranked anywhere near #2 after their loss to Oregon State.

And you say the Big Easts OOC schedule wasn't easy? I'd dispute that. Yeah, there are some good teams in the Big East and they're kicking ass in their bowl games, but they're still beating weak opponents and pretty unimpressively at that. And it doesn't really matter anyway...if anyone from the Big East had gone undefeated they'd probably be in the NC instead of Florida. They held their destiny in their own hands and blew it.

week after week after week in the SEC, you have no time to rest lagging injuries. Now, with the addition of alabama to soon become a premier program again, the SEC is commiting acts of cannibalism, practically eating their own conference alive
PS lol at the "the SEC is so good they beat eachother up!" argument...especially since it was brought up in a "SEC excuses" thread I saw on ESPN forums like 2 months ago. Like the SEC is the only conference with injuries..

    conference with injuries..
What's Michigan's record in bowl games under lloyd carr? Like, 0-3? How many time's have they beat ohio state under lloyd carr? Zero? Those are big games. Those are the games you are hired in as a coach to win. Michigan is a program that recruits itself. It goes without saying that you are SUPPOSED to win games against wisconsin and penn state. Everyone always points to carr's 75% winning record or whatever at michigan. That's under achieving. YOu should win 90% there. I could probably coach michigan to winning 3/4 games. Michigan blows big games buddy.

I stated a while ago, may have been this thread, that i thought wisconsin was a really good team. Better than michigan in my opinion. So i really have no qualms with their schedule being easy. You act as if there aren't really good teams that end up playing weak schedules that do not at least deserve a shot at a champioship in a playoff system. In the current system, i'll agree. I wouldn't give boise state a national championship over florida or ohio state, but i'd like to see them get a shot in the playoffs.

As far as laughing at the SEC, that's funny. You cannot see that it's damn near impossible to go undefeated in the SEC because half the schools there are capable, any given year, to be a BCS bowl caliber team. That's far from excuse, that's fact. I don't know if you're jus a big ten homer or a SEC hater, but it's glaringly obvious the SEC is brutal.
