The main alliance doesn't have to be that big, and we have had wins with the people in it hovering 12-14, but we never skimped out on the black mage alliance and always had another exp party kill other shit.. thats 18+6, thats 24 people right there before you even touch Vrtra.

12 people is *enough* to damage and tank vrtra, this is where you put your extras if needed to speed the fight up.

Room pops/vrtra summons take 2 6-man parties tops, good brd/rdm/blm/blm/blm/blm times 2 and the game is over. 4 blm's is overkill, the last 2 kills I did were with 3 in one and 4 in the other. BRD's need to know how to lullaby and RDM's need to know you can sleep ghosts. This is one place where I enjoyed RDM/SMN as you are just running and casting like mad and never resting ever.

Also protip is to have everyone use poison pots 100% of the time, it's like 3 stacks per person tops and saves much ass. There's your 24 person kill.

Agree with the above statement, vrtra is a total pussy...the only thing that really hurts is back-to-back Cyclone Wings or all your tanks getting roared in a short amount of time, but the former shouldnt even happen as long as you have a few good stunners if you're using the kite tactic.

Dealing with adds is a pain in the ass if half your group has never fought vrtra, BLMs slow to nuke makes his summons overwhelming...the last time we fought vrtra there were at least 2-3 summons out at any given time and i dont know what really caused it but it ended up being too much to deal with. As long as your BLMs know that dealing with adds is the most important part of the fight and they need to kill them as soon as possible, you shouldnt have any "wipe-imminent" problems.

Jorm and Vrtra are pretty much just occasional "fun" events for new recruits and for getting people titles, when we have nothing better do do. Tiamat = claim and kill whenever possible since gaiters are insanrly useful and you never max out on them.

The problem with Jorm is... it's not fun. Especially for BLMs who have to hold the links. It'll make anyone want to kill themselves. Vrtra is fun as long as you don't do it often. Last vrtra we ate a spike flail and recovered without wiping, which was fun. One day we killed Vrtra -> Tiamat -> Jorm within 9 hours just for the hell of it... not sure if anyone else has ever done that sort of marathon.

Basically... it's pointless for gil drops. Ouryu and Bahamut2 are easier to organize, more fun, and drop much, much more than Jorm and Vrtra. Jeuno helm and skillup staff... no thanks. I guess if you sold gaiters, Tiamat would be profitable... but only RMT sell gaiters. There's no way everyone in your LS that can use them has them.

Anyway sticking to OP, Tiamat is the only good money NM as many had already mentioned. Bahamut v2 also provides us with steady income with the regular cashmere cloth drop on every other run.
As for Rare/EX from Bahamut, that's a good source of income too.
We sold Bahamut Staff for 40M,
Bahamut Mask 10M ish,
and so forth.

We farm Jormy for Pole not for drops, as we had been flooding the market now with 600k Moly ores and this will go down even more.
