    This is backwards?
    No, not backwards. The pole seams alot more consistant, while the staff, under 2x weather (dyna) is able to reach higher #'s.

    Of course I disprove myself with my own screenshot... That screenshot was triple dark, the extreme case seams to be triple dark. That is where the Diabolos takes over as the better choice, and where the 193 aspir was done.

    The Aspirs have been constistanly un-resisted w/Diabolos pole(140-170's), But the dark staff has done higher #'s when unresisted (anywhere from the 'aww' 40mp to 180mp)

    I'm not claiming I have the aswners, or even have a clue how the forumla works, this is just what I have parsed, and what I have done personaly. Other blms in my core group hate the pole, and swear that it always does less no matter what, and one has done a 200+ aspir on a Dark knight mob w/darkstaff. (Really wish I had a screenshot of that for proof)

    Edit: changed tripple to triple - like it makes a diffrence in what I said.

    I'm @ work, so no screenies, but I think I can spit out of memory, as long as no one makes fun of my terible spelling ._.

    Diabolos Pole
    Phantom Thathlum
    Sorc. Hat
    Dark Tourque
    Abysal earring
    Moldivite earring
    Iquira Weskit (want nashira body)
    Sorc. Gloves
    Tamas Ring
    Sorc. Ring
    Prism Cape (want Blm sea cape)
    Dark Obi
    Wizard legs
    Rostrum Pumps

    That was the setup I did the 193 aspir with, it was an extreme and usualy got only around 140-170.

    Sence then I switched to INT based stuff for drain aspir, Demon helm+1, Errant body, and found no diffrence, still in the 140-170 range.

    I then kept the INT stuff and switched to Pluto's Staff, and found drain/aspir was all over the bored, anywhere from 10- 180 on aspirs. (I exclude drains, due to being taru, hard to get a full drain, I always fill hp bar before caps out spell)

    As Dele said, most of the testing with Diabolos Pole is great for statistical analysis, but much less useful in practice. A weapon that only works 6 hrs out of the week for a marginal increase in Drain/Aspir in my already 59/60 inventory? No thanks. I'd rather keep that room for my HMP set or my Stoneskin set.

    My priority for dark magic has always been Dark Skill > Haste > -emnity > whatever else. My dark magic macro (lazy copy/paste from windower file):

    input /equip main "Pluto's Staff";
    input /equip ring1 "Tamas Ring";
    input /equip neck "Dark Torque";
    input /equip ear2 "Abyssal Earring";
    input /equip body "Nashira Manteel";
    input /equip hands "Sorcerer's Gloves";
    input /equip legs "Wzd. Tonban +1";
    input /equip ring2 "Trooper's Ring";
    input /equip head "Walahra Turban";
    input /equip back "Merciful Cape";
    input /equip waist "Penitent's Rope";
    //input /equip waist "Anrin Obi";

    Pen Rope is swapped for Obi when in dynamis or apollyon. Could use a dark earring, but don't have inventory space for one without sacrificing something more useful. BLM JSE feet I've been meaning to try to get a pair of, but haven't gotten a chance.

    You're right it's backwards, Goso is wrong lol. Diabolos Pole = Higher possible numbers. Pluto's staff = better overall if you believe in the existence of these parses Septimus claims to have seen

    I will not arugue with this, but in my parseing adventures, it has not been the case. I might be... ok, I problity am wrong, but I want somone to prove it to me.

    I am that stubbon egg-head that woln't belive something I read untill I do it for myself, or its so plainly laied out thats its beliveable. You stating "No your wrong" is not conclusive proof to me.

    Honestly I don't wanna go though the work of parseing anymore, and anylizing data, I like to just get drunk and mash macro's @ dyna, please please give some evidence that I am wrong, so I don't have to try and confrim or disprove it.

    The reasons that Diabolos Pole has better maximum possible damage are due to your screenshot of 193 with it and the reasons I already laid out in this thread in the last one. As for which parses better, if you have parses showing Diabolos Pole is better than Pluto's Staff overall, please share them, not because I don't believe you, but because I do.

    Goso is the one who did the 193 Aspir, so I think he may know a thing or two about Diabolo's Pole.

    Last I checked 200+ > 193, so I guess Goso didn't have it backwards after all.

    Precisely why would he lie about it after he showed a screenshot of 193 with Diabolos's Pole?

    Is there some sort of conspiracy against Diabolos's Pole that I should know about?

    It was most likely a mistake, either it was MBed and he forgot, or it was Drain and he wasn't paying attention or whatever. A non-MBed Aspir over 186 with Pluto's staff is impossible, Aurik and I understand this, and this is the foundation for everything I've said in this thread. Your foundation seems to be non-existant parses and screenshots.

    And your foundation is one screenshot that the guy who took the screenshot said was an aberration and that on average the highest aspirs are done with Pluto's Staff.

    One possible "bonus" that diabolos pole could be would be like static earring / sorcerer's gloves / tonban when their conditions are met. Say for example a 10% damage boost per dark weather icon. Then a capped aspir in dynamis on darksday would be floor(floor(120 * 1.35)*1.2) = 194

    The reason why D.Pole could still be "inferior", is that this bonus may not give the 15% accuracy boost that Pluto's gives.

    I've never said that Pole is better than Pluto's. All I've maintained is that the 193 aspir makes me question the anecdotal claims of others that Pluto's is better overall. Also he seemed to say that while he hits higher numbers more often with Pluto's, he averages higher with Diabolos, which is in fact the opposite of what you were claiming earlier, am I wrong?

    Thankyou much for 'backing' me up, but I'm just a backyard redneck from Alaska ._. I haven't done anything special, cept get lucky w/ an un-resisted aspir of a statue.

    honestly, I am usualy to drunk @ dyna's to remember much of anything, and everytime I try and 'export' the parse logs I mess it up, so I quit trying. I will screenshot the next ones I do to get some real results. Take everything I have said with a grain of salt, like I said, I'm pretty saused @ dynamis.

    I am only 49/60 in my invitory, and that with elemental gear, stoneskin gear, and Yellowing gear (for sorc ring). If somone wants me to breakdown everything I got in there, I can do that when I get home.

    I carry the pole for lolmeeleblm too, cause seeing that added effect of slow is 'neat'

    I will have to agree with the rest of you on the 200+ aspir, It had to be MBed or something, (even though I trust the source that told me, he is a human beeing, and makes mistakes)

    If it was not for windower macro's, I would not carry the pole, and I don't use it unless @ dynamis. Ctrl+Alt+1 loads damage macros, then Ctrl+Alt+2 loads dyna macros. Loading dynamis macros changes the alias of drkgear to the diffren't gearset with pole/obi.

    If you think that the 193 was a fluke, it wasn't its pretty common to get 190's and high 180's w/D.Pole on tripple dark. If it isn't tripple dark, the Pluto staff is higher. My theory is that the "enhances with weather" adds x amount to each weather effect. Lets say it adds 6% for the sake of argument. Durring double dark, you would only get 12% bounus, while pluto's is giving 15%. Now when it becomes triple dark, it jumps to a 18% bounus, making D.Pole better when Pluto's only under triple.

    http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y19...I/477drain.jpg

    (for lol's)http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y19...XI/avaspir.jpg

    I kick myself for loosing the screenie of the 491 drain, so 477 is all I can claim... cause no proof ._.

    This is the current setup I use:

    main "Pluto's Staff"
    head "Nashira Turban"
    body "Errant Hpl."working on HQ 0/32 or Nashira Body
    hands "Sorcerer's Gloves"
    legs "Wizard's Tonban"
    feet "Rostrum Pumps"
    back "Merciful Cape"
    neck "Dark Torque
    l.ring "Tamas Ring"
    r.ring "Snow Ring" or Diabolos's Ring on Darksday
    waist "Swift Belt" or Anrin Obi on Darksday/Weather
    l.ear "Dark Earring"
    r.ear "Abyssal Earring"
    ammo "Phantom Tathlum"

    Total:
    MND59+20 INT80+29 Magic Accuracy+5 Dark Magic Skill+45 Haste+6% on non Darksday.
    MND59+20 INT80+24 Magic Accuracy+5 Dark Magic Skill+60 Haste+2% on Darksday/Weather.

    53 second recast on Drain with 0% Haste
    50 second recast on Drain with 6% Haste

    54 second recast on Aspir with 0% Haste
    50 second recast on Aspir with 6% Haste

    Wish list: Nashira Body (Dark skill+5) Sorcerer Gloves+1 (Dark skill+2 over NQ), Nashira Crackows (Magic Accuracy+2 Haste+1%)

    I also carry around a ton of hMP gear which is currently at +28MP a tick without food and takes about 3 min to get from 0 MP to full MP. Combining both hMP + a good Drain/Aspir is what makes a good BLM. I usually have 59/60 inventory. I definately need a new gobbie bag.

    My Highest aspirs:

    on Darksday

    on Earthsday
    http://img342.imageshack.us/img342/9...ayaspirwf7.jpg

    on Lightsday (Don't remember what mode JoL was in)
