anyone else think Cuddy was too much of a bitch this episode? I mean the dinner thing was just mean

I'm not saying it was totally unjustified, but it just seemed uncharacteristically coldhearted for her.
Not necessarily. For a while the way it worked was that Wilson always gave in to House when he played his games and Cuddy would bite back. That's what originally made her awesome (though I don't think this was until S2-3) is that she fucked with House and got him on a few occasions.
oh yeah true, haven't seen the older seasons in a while
I felt really bad for House during those scenes. I definitely wanted to punch the stupid Cuddy looking bitch in the face when she said 'She told me I should offer you a turkey sandwich lololl' Also, I hate this Lucas guy, maybe it's because I never knew him before the whole Cuddy + Lucas thing (I've missed a bunch of episodes, I don't watch every week) but he's the most unlikable character ever, I don't see him lasting long whatsoever.
I liked him when he first appeared on the show. It's kinda weird to see him dating Cuddy. It won't last. I found a video of the first 3 mins of next week's episode if anyone wants to check it out. Got some Wilson action goin on.
Spoiler: show
so its like a House version of the Scrubs His/her/their story type episode?
Did he shoot an old bag of potatoe chips? I don't get it.
Guess you'll just have to wait till next week to find out
BUM BUM BUMMMMMMM
the suspense oh god it's killing me. I actually thought it had some significance I was missing since I don't know the guy but apparently he's a recurring character.
Seriously? Did you even READ that before you linked it?
First off, this version (and the even OLDER version) of the oath isn't even used anymore (for reasons that I hope are obvious). This is the current version:Originally Posted by The Hippocratic Oath
Even though this version still isn't quite to my likings, it is worlds better than what came before it. You may note that nowhere does it say that you are required to care. Hell, if you ask me, House has MANY times acted in the patients own best interests, even when it was explicitly against their will. As such, your attacks on House's ethics are ill founded.I swear to fulfill, to the best of my ability and judgment, this covenant:
I will respect the hard-won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk, and gladly share such knowledge as is mine with those who are to follow.
I will apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measures [that] are required, avoiding those twin traps of overtreatment and therapeutic nihilism.
I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug.
I will not be ashamed to say "I know not," nor will I fail to call in my colleagues when the skills of another are needed for a patient's recovery.
I will respect the privacy of my patients, for their problems are not disclosed to me that the world may know. Most especially must I tread with care in matters of life and death. If it is given me to save a life, all thanks. But it may also be within my power to take a life; this awesome responsibility must be faced with great humbleness and awareness of my own frailty. Above all, I must not play at God.
I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth, but a sick human being, whose illness may affect the person's family and economic stability. My responsibility includes these related problems, if I am to care adequately for the sick.
I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure.
I will remember that I remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow human beings, those sound of mind and body as well as the infirm.
If I do not violate this oath, may I enjoy life and art, respected while I live and remembered with affection thereafter. May I always act so as to preserve the finest traditions of my calling and may I long experience the joy of healing those who seek my help.
House fucks with the patients' privacy and family/other relationship all the fucking time though.
I think you need to go back and read the posts that led up to this one from the start. The Oath doesn't say you have to like your patients. It doesn't say you have to respect them or even give a shit about it (I'll concede that it RECOMMENDS warmth, sympathy and understanding, but these are in no way obligations). It merely says that you are to act in the patient's best interests. (context is important)
As such (and pay attention, because this is/was my main point) Cameron was projecting her irrelevant values onto House and Chase, which is not OK.
I'll give you that House tends to tread in the gray area as often as not, but you must also remember that in his field, to do his job well, it is usually necessary and justified, especially with the patients that are stupid, lying, or crazy (which seems encompass most of them).
I really don't feel like putting anymore work into this argument, so go ahead and assume you've won if that will help you sleep at night. It isn't going to change that Cameron was a whiny bitch.
Episode tonight was brilliant.
In regards to the previous discussion, tonight's episode showed how that emotional distance can be useful in some cases. Wilson was too attached to his patient to nail down the obvious conditions first and jumped straight to the crazy conclusion. On the other hand, the episode also showed how his compassion is helpful in the case of the grandfather that he saved in the framing story.
I love House, and each week the show gives me a new reason why I do.
