In the last scene when he's taking the pills out of the Ibuprofen bottle the actual pills were always, very intentionally, obstructed by something in the shot.

I really hope not. It's always the same cycle with House and while I like the angry, mean, scheming House I don't see anything wrong with House as he is now. The character is still interesting. I'd like to see him trying really out there ways of dealing with his pain. Like hypnosis for example...that episode would be great just to see him fucking with people.

This arc with vicodin could be short though. Something to bring him back to rehab for a short time or it could be to reintroduce certain people from rehab back into the show.

if you pay attention at the end when he opened up the ibuprofen bottle, he ripped the seal on the bottle, meaning that's it's really ibuprofen. (subtle hint from the producer that's house is not back on vicodin)

I had two problems with this episode:

1) Did they ever explain the satanic stuff he had hidden away? They just sort of said "this guy's weird but none of it matters for the case" and dismissed it, unless I missed something.

2) It was never confirmed that the guy's friend was the one who tried to poison him with hemlock, was it? All the evidence pointed to it, but no action was taken on the guy, and the patient even let him take the girl he loved because he thought she deserved better.

Other than that, it was quite a good episode with a lot of small jokes peppered in, but those two things struck me as glaringly obvious, unless I missed their resolutions.

Idk about #1, but #2 was thrown out because he gave hemlock to everyone at the dinner, but it was a small dose so no one was effected, and really had no bearing on the case at all.

Well, the hemlock exacerbated the effects that the steroids had on his body, but yeah, that makes sense.

It was just a distraction. I think this is where someone asked if he poisoned himself(which, in the end, I guess he did).

Like House, Taub takes a great amount of pride in his own rationality. He doesn't delude himself, and he plays the odds like a Bayesian machine. If he finds that he wants to sample some other products, so to speak, he is going to weigh the pros and cons against his probability of getting caught. If it comes out in favor of cheating, he will not hesitate.

Taub is strictly by the numbers.

My theory is that every member of House's team represents a part of House himself. The sum of House's team = House. The theory is a work in progress though, as I can't really see as how Cameron is any part of House. Perhaps it only holds with Team 2. Perhaps Team 1 is the same only more subtle about it. If this theory holds, I wonder if the members dying or leaving are supposed to reflect changes in House. I wonder how many of them CAUSED changes in House.

I'd say Cameron and Kutner both represented House's desire to do good. There's no doubt House treasures the puzzle most, but House undoubtedly cares about the fact he's dealing with human lives. He always presses the point that if they do nothing when they are stumped the patient dies.

Additionally House has demonstrated altruism in the past. The guy with the hero complex in the psyche ward? Tricking everyone so that he could let that Astronaut girl stay in NASA

I'd say that Kutner was more the "Unorthodox solutions" part of House. I recall Kutner always coming up with his own metaphors and suggesting weird shit.

They also mentioned multiple times that Cameron is damaged like House.

This episode was one of the funniest I've seen in a while. The wit was over 9000.

I think the overall theme of this episode is that all people involved DIDN'T succumb. House refused to open the files and gave Sam a chance, the guy let his friend get the girl instead of being selfish. Everyone did the "honorable" thing here.
