tl;drA renewal deal for "House" to continue on FOX is close to wrapping up -- and it likely means you'll be seeing a little less of some cast members next season.
FOX has been looking to cut the license fee it pays producer Universal Media Studios for the series since its ratings have declined in the past couple seasons. According to Deadline, the two sides are finalizing a deal now that will bring the show back for one more season.
To get the cost down, Universal has worked out new contracts with regulars Omar Epps and Robert Sean Leonard -- whose current deals end this season -- and is in the process of doing the same with Lisa Edelstein. They call for each actor to appear in a reduced number of episodes (18, instead of the full 22), and Deadline says Epps and Edelstein may take pay cuts as well. There's no word on the status of fellow original cast member Jesse Spencer.
Star Hugh Laurie has one year remaining on his current contract. Olivia Wilde and Peter Jacobson, who joined "House" midway through its run, are also still under contract.
House renewed for next season. Might see a few episodes without Wilson/Cuddy so they can pay them less.
Same with Foreman. It looks like they might only keep it around for another 2-3 more seasons at the rate their going. Ratings are still big, but in decline. I'm hoping they don't run it into the ground and just end on a high note.
Surely the decline in ratings has nothing to do with the fact that more people are starting to watch shit online rather than on live television.
(Assuming they still do ratings like that, but I feel pretty confident assuming that they do.)
I mean, for maybe a few hundred thousand people at most. But millions? No way.
Episode 21 of this season had 7.94 million viewers according to wiki. Episode 21 two years ago had 12.2 million viewers. That's a huge discrepancy, and if the trend continues, by this time next year they'll be lucky to break 6 million viewers. It's sad to see it happen to such an awesome show, but the train has to end at some point. I won't keep my hopes up for a season 10, hoping they make it to 9 though.
First episode of season 6 was fucking hilarious, I forget what the ending to season 5 was though, i'll have to rewatch it. I don't get how the ratings went down, imo the past 2-3 seasons have gotten better and better.
My favorite character got killed (kutner) but I guess my favorite character now is... carefree chase. Care(bitch)free chase is boss.
I am both relieved and worried by this news. This is one of three shows I will actually sit down and watch live unless I absolutely can't help it.
They do, which is why I think the whole Nielson Rating bullshit is just that; bullshit. People don't watch much live TV anymore since we have stuff like online/hulu/dvr/tivo and all that.. but people still go by the Nielson ratings shit and it gets shows canned even if they're good.
Well, unfortunately, I assume it is mostly due to advertising. If people aren't seeing the ads they are playing during the shows, they don't care who is watching them.
Tritter and House were just a lot a like, and the point was seeing them go at one another.
The Twins were cut because of the Men VS Women case (guy in the wheelchair and dog). 13 was saved because of her admitting to the mistake leading to his death, and Amber saved since she joined the Men's team.
Season 2 for me was the weakest (I did the same as you, watched Season 1-5 and caught up last year with season 6). There were a few good ones in Season 2, but rewatching em, I skip alot of Season 2. Season 5 was not as good as 4 and 6, but has some of my favorite episodes. When House is taken Hostage with 13, 13's side story I found interesting and how House messed with her, same with Cuddy and wanting to adopt. And it had my favorite season finale (4 was really good, but re watching it is difficult cause I found it so shocking and sad).
House and Cuddy I did like together, but I had a feeling they would break them up for plot and story sake. Still have a strong feeling they will be back together. With how even her Mother wanted them together, and the preview for tomorrows episode with Cuddy walking in on House after the self surgery.
I liked Kutner more, Taub is kinda meh to me... has had a few good moments, but not as many as other characters. His marriage issues were not interesting at all to me.
Whichever season finale had euphoria held a special place in my heart. Also, the one with the crane building collapse. Never has a show (or anything not relating to me for that matter) caused me to actually feel some sadness for what just happened.
The crane ep is up there as one of the most powerful episodes for me too.
Just a fair warning that something in tonight's episode is extremely graphic and gross(even for House) according to those who have seen it.

10$ on the two cars wrecking in to each other..
Edit: Oh well.
Wow, next week looks epic.
Shit I thought this was the finale lol. Interesting episode, lotta heavy stuff all around.
Fucking Cuddy again.
