Why the hell were there helicopters at the scene in the intro (you can hear them in the background)? The only injury sustained was Wilson's arm presumably when he dived out of the way (he was holding it as House walked away).

yeah my first reaction to the beginning of the episode was that he did something to/in the hospital

Definitely the weakest season finale for House... it really didn't answer... well anything besides him and Cuddy are 100% done. I did think the case was really interesting and should have been saved for a different episode, just didn't fit for the finale. I agree with it not explaining or writing out Cuddy at all, but more writing House out of the hospital. No clue how they will explain that... The part I did really like about it though was the last scene. Wilson told the police he would be in a bar that matched his feelings/mood, probably the darkest hole in New Jersey. Wilson was semi write, but wrong about the mood, thought it was subtle enough and had great meaning if you picked up on it.

If you noticed when they were having lunch they were sitting on opposite sides of a road. It drew my attention during that scene and then at the end...well, you know.

I wanted to enjoy it, I really did, but I just don't buy House doing that.

You're not supposed to. He's finally changed. That was the whole point to the finale.

I was half expecting next season to take place years later, with house in a different hospital or something because of Cuddy drama, but with Taub's baby momma drama going on I don't know what to expect. The case was pretty good too, but only because it showed perfectly how house felt about everything and himself.

Next season should be quite awesome, with house finally free of cuddy nonsense and also the frame of mind to actually be happy with himself and his life. What it'll be about is beyond me though, with no cuddy and no house related drama from this season left, they will at least have 20+ episodes to get some worthwhile finale shit done with.

like I tried to explain to a friend, from a character development standpoint, I would be fine if that had been the series finale as far as House (character) is concerned. Like I loved it. obviously theres a lot of closure and stuff missing for other characters, but to me, the emotional outburst/catharsis would be a fine place to end it. and I know I'm in the extreme minority on this.

I felt this was an emergency iteration finale based on Cuddy turning down her contract offer, but if they moved the "Chase to 13: lets grab a coffee" to this episode, then it would have perfect to just end it all. Toss in a Foreman thing, and everyone's bases are covered.

Hopefully they piece it all back together to end with season 8 or 9, rather than a pathetic shell like scrubs.

I didn't even realize it was the finale for some reason, I was thinking there was another episode, rofl. I can only imagine they're going to write her about by basically leaving it where it's at, ignoring her existence and House not returning to the hospital. I could finally feel the continuing drama and attachment to her getting completely stale, and if they actually write him in next season as content (even if not happy) without her around then I think it'll work.

Maybe he'll get his team to leave and join him where ever it is this beach he's at is, and they'll explain Wilson being in less episodes by him just taking a vacation there to check up on how House is doing for x number of episodes and then going back.

I can't see how they change logistically. The whole team would have to move, wilson, Taub's little nurse piece of ass. I just can't imagine being able to move such a substantial amount of characters when they can easily play it off as Cuddy taking a different job.

Granted, and that's probable, I suppose. But that's the vibe I'm getting from both the end + the news of no more Cuddy.

I mean, that might make the most sense logistically, but especially after the end of this season with a restraining order on House to go nowhere near Cuddy "or her hospital", her definite absence from the show, the fact that she was always the only one that could "control House" in the Board's eyes, and House on a beach "somewhere else" looking nice and content, it just seems to scream him going elsewhere. Writing in Cuddy taking a different job or getting fired (over House destroying her house? not likely), especially after that, would be completely against her character and not really make much sense imo, even if it was "easier" than changing locations.

Besides, like I said, Wilson wouldn't have to move (it would be a perfect way to explain his only being present in a specific # of episodes), and the team packing up and leaving the hospital after so long could be a source of half of the drama of the season. The only ones they would actually need to move are House and his team, and I could totally see either the nurse or ex-wife refusing to leave, Taub playing off the distance to avoid telling them, then the other recanting and coming to the new location and catching him + whichever left with him. :3

I agree with the character development of House in the episode, as I mentioned before, the Wilson comment and very last scene made the episode for me, it just fit perfect in that sense.

It had nothing to do with her leaving but that is probably how they're going to write it.

It could also be that at the time of filming they weren't sure who was going to stick around and who wasn't, so they wrote it in a way that can branch off in multiple directions as needed.

I only dislike the finale because it leaves far too much open, despite people knowing that Cuddy doesn't want to come back next season. It seems like it was rushed together for the sake of wrapping up the House/Cuddy relationship storyline.

How the hell does House and the rest of the gang do anything next season, knowing that he drove a fucking car through the hospital admin's house? That's not like euthanizing your brother, knocking up two chicks, killing a dictator, stealing research and fixing a clinical trial, or fucking with your subordinate's emotions. He drove a fucking car through a wall where Cuddy's daughter could have been sitting and four adults were just standing.

I think it's very likely. House is finally over the Cuddy thing and is obviously pretty darn happy with its resolution. Next season is probably gonna revolve around that, with the team probably working at the hospital and calling house for help until either he moves on to something else or they move to him.

The only reason I don't see that happening (Cuddy leaving and House staying at the hospital), personally, is that after what happened and Cuddy not appearing in any future episodes, I don't know how they could really do anything at the hospital. Just ignoring that Cuddy is there wouldn't work after what happened, it would be an enormously glaring omission. House isn't there, but his team is still working and getting cases and calling him, but no appearances by Cuddy?

But her leaving the hospital for anything short of death wouldn't really seem to work either, imo, because she isn't going to leave just so that House can continue having the run of her hospital after what he did (and it's already been shown in an earlier season that it's not likely the hospital board would find anybody else capable of handling him in any way). It would not only be completely out of character, it would make even less sense (imo) than House deciding to set up shop elsewhere (especially considering the end of the finale).

I watched it again, and he seems pretty satisfied at the end, and when asked if he was going home it didn't sound as if he had any intention to. I can't really imagine him at another hospital though, I don't know. But to have ready access to a full range of medical equipment, I imagine he'd have to be, so I'm curious how they'll play it off. Also, I don't know how they'd handle the rest of the team, and the enfolding drama. Kind of an enormous range of possibilities they could use, predicting what they'll actually decide to do isn't easy.

Whatever House does, however, it's been made clear that he and his team are world famous, so I'm sure they could manage something.
