Ehhh, those whiny shit-talkers? They never really leave for the most part. Few do leave, however... kinda amazing.Originally Posted by layoneil

And by decent, I don't mean ridills and e.bodies. Cerberus and Tiamat, for example, are decent. People actually care enough to check if they are up, and when they are, people head out to kill them.
But ever since RoZ, all the new HNMs seem to be 3+ day spawns. They are way overdue for the next 21-24 HNM with at least half-decent loot. Something that people will actually go kill when its up, like Tiamat and Cerberus, but 21-24 hour instead of 3-5 day.
I honestly have no clue why they're doing 3-5 day. That is one thing I'd like to ask them actually. This 3-5 day nonsense is just plain weird.Originally Posted by Khamsin

What mistake does 3-5 day fix, rather than just making Tiamat and Cerberus 21-24 hour, plus any new HNM with a drop that people care enough about to kill every time its up?Originally Posted by Sho

Me thinks they planned the 3-5 day respawns to coincide with the daily Beseige on Al'Zahbi. Or maybe they are planning as they go along. >_>
Ninja Editz
the system is the same, they just took the NQ out.
Shouldn't it be more like 5-6 days then? Been a while since I camped an HQ HNM.Originally Posted by layoneil

Cerberus may not pop 21-24 hr, but at least it has 100% drops. Tiamat still confuses me though, Jorm and Vrtra were given 100% drops. Tiamat is on a 3-5 day timer and could drop a lolfire crystal. That right there is probably the reason Tiamat is still camped compared to the other CoP wyrms. Take out subligar from the safehold, and make cashmere a random drop from Vrtra and you'd have people waiting for it to pop as well.
Choco raising, to hnms. Interesting.
Anyways, I have long since abandoned my choco. Don't think ive checked on him in a month or so now. The fun and novelty of raising a choco got old really fast.
I suppose I'm the only one who found FFIX's Chocobo Hot and Cold game to be one of the most annoying and tedious minigames in FF history. I guess it's only appropriate for it to be included in FFXI.
At least in IX, the end result was a great reward. I can only imagine what "treasures" you can find with FFXI-style CHaC after spending 3 hours getting a map and another 2 trying to find the location: "You find a Copper Ring in the Treasure Chest!"
Not that I'm expecting Ridills, but let's have honest expectations here. I didn't raise a chocobo because I've come to expect little reward for doing so on Squenix's part. And I'm not going to raise one now just because Squenix is eluding to l33t lewt.
and I fully expect to eat my words when people do start digging up Ridills
I loved that mini-game in FFIX, but I could care less about chocobos in FFXI. My chocobo is probably on like day 100, after he became a black chocobo after me not feeding him for 30 days, I kinda knew the system was stupid. Raced him a few times when he was severly ill and he won!
Chocobo raising to me, is just like the fellow system, some people like it, but they are pretty boring.
Assault prize (whatever that body piece is called) is a bit easier to obtain, with some of the same stats.Originally Posted by Sci

Fuck that. 3-5 day spawn is so 2001, and 21-24 is so 2003. Dynamis Lord, and to a lesser degree because of chips Ultima and Omega are how bosses should be done, instanced.Originally Posted by Khamsin

If they keep the same idea as CoP dynamis, throw in some mini-bosses along the way with some worthwhile loot, make it challengeing, and Salvage could be fucking awesome. I'm not holding my breath though. My current Christmas break plans are to level a couple support jobs and spend some time playing either EQ or WoW.
I think your right. Salvage seems like it's going to be limbus with an assault twist. The sixth counter in the commission agency will likely be filled by the Salvage NPC similiar to how the limbus npc is in Port Jeuno. The quality (or lack thereof) of the Salvage rewards will ultimately decide wether the update is a yea or a nay. Speaking of which didn't they mention something about Sub job restrictions sometime back...?Originally Posted by Janice

Nah, SJ restrictions are for CoP Dynamis. They said they'd do something new, similar to how they did SJ restrictions.Originally Posted by Gwynplaine
