So the best solution would in fact be re-balancing NPC prices.
Oh come on, be realistic. When was the last thing SE changed anything significant in their game? They only add things to fix them.

Ninjaedit: Besides job re-balancing. Although even then most of the time they just add stuff.

I have to disagree with this one. If anything, it helped Bonecrafters. Talons are now 50-100k on Remora, with other materials adding up to maybe 30k. 130k per try and 1/100 HQ (which is a low rate for T0) is 13m spent if you NPCd all of the weskits, which obviously isn't the case (most crafters get back at least half of it on each sale, unless they flood). As far as I know, Weskits are still well over 15m on Remora. Maybe 20-25m, I'm not sure. It's not the fastest money but it's a profit nonetheless. I could be wrong, but judging by the lack of Weskits in comments/bazaars, and having no sales on the AH since October, it looks as though they are still in demand.
LOL thats why i dont understand how genie weskit is worth over 5m. You can NPC 100 of them and still make profit on the HQ.

    I believe its multiple factors.

1: It can be a pain to gather those mats for each synth.

2: The number of Genie's remains low while the amount of end game BLM's that desire to perfect their gear contiunes to rise.

3: Putting that much money up front and losing X amount unless you hq a tier 0 is a fair amount of risk therefore crafters make sure they are well compensated when they do finally get really lucky.

Starting to be the best option is consumables, but oh how sorry you feel when 72 synths later, you realize you've only made 20k.
I could'nt agree with you more. 100+6 cooking here and I've only made food for myself as needed lately. How fun it is when you make 6 stacks of sushi only to hq once meanwhile people make it non-stop and your profit disappears.

i still stick by my point, talking to lvl 100 bonecrafters on my server seem very disappointed nothing made by bonecrafting is high in demand anymore.

Because what with the small chance of HQ you might end up sitting there crafting twice that many without getting a single HQ. I've seriously been around 0/175 (yeah I still count...) on them before. Sinjce people can't just sit down and make one out of nowhere with any consistence, the price stays high

WW is still fine for me anyways, i only need to go about 1/6-1/8 on staff HQ to break even... and cursed haidate are 150k profit and sell 1-2 a day, no one really puts them up so its basically a free market for me, HQ sell for about 9M nq is 1M so its pretty nice over here

The reason there is no demand for crafted material is because all the real good gear is NM drop, Salvage drop, you name it. SE keeps putting out more and more nice gear, and making none of it craftable.

Anything that is nice that is craftable, still sells well, hence the Weskits.

I beleive it's because of the hoards of RMT. When you have the manpower to farm everything, EVERYTHING, trying over and over for HQ's is easy.

Biggest problem I see is that 'velocity of money' in this economy went to shit.
Smaller margins aren't so bad as long as product moves enough that I can restock things on a couple mules in the span of a play session.
Clogging your AH slots with stuff that sells slow or gets kicked back to you sucks these days.

I've done a fair amount of digging+H.E.L.M'ing and then synthing it to stuff I can undercut down to the point where the AH camp+synthers can't compete. I saw a jp veteran clothrafter out harvesting the other day for raw materials as well.

I'd love to stop NQ'ing koenig shields and get a damn HQ to score a good chunk of gil, but I think i'd be hard pressed to find someone that could actually afford it.

Smithing is still "somewhat" decent, and I use the term "somewhat" lightly. Haubs NQ are minimal loss(100k), some things still make profit, just takes time to sell. Only thing that sucks about crafting are the assholes who undercut everything you are trying to sell, like this on JP player on my server, who undercuts NQ cursed gear, when hes the only one who has it on AH, forcing us "good" crafters to have to place them on AH for cheaper.

Well, in the end there is a bottom point- at which we're NPCing stuff back and actually not losing serious money doing so. Correspondingly, the further the economy deflates, the more likely somewhere along the line we find a recipe that materials cost less than the finished product to make.

Eventually, even the RMT sellers will be bent over by this.
