I highly doubt that it has anything to do with people not attacking... whenever we hear the 2hr sound, people scatter (ie stop attacking), and we take massive damage anyway from time to time.Originally Posted by Jooeetheplatypus

I'm actually pretty sure Maxx is right, and the amount of Optic Induration damage is dependant at least to some extent on how much damage you do to it during charge-up. (Same for all pots I think?) As for hate-reset, I don't think it's a real hate-reset but it seems that when you are petrified by a lot of mobs it drops you down on the hate list temporarily, until the petrification wears off.

Hmmm, I have damage taken by others filtered, so for me it's just a rough estimate of how often someone dies or is brought to low HP by it. Maybe TP then? If people are getting hit a lot with shadows down while kiting and/or its auto-meditate could account for those numbers, and could also explain why the damage seems to be high when people are smacking it.
I was under the belief that Temperance doesn't have any true hate reset moves, but what people are seeing is more a result of the tank taking a large ammount of damage when some moves go off, causing them to lose a large ammount of hate.
Optic definitely resets hate, I've gone through a few JoT fights as tank with no more than Regen III's and a few cure III's, then when optic lands, hate just goes all over the place.Originally Posted by Jg
Definitely resets hate, even when I take small damage from it I lose just about all the hate I built up beforehand.
I think the damage it deals to you works similar to breath attacks from wyrms. Standing directly infront and really close to it I see a lot more 500-900 damage ones, vs one that's really far and at an odd angle that tend to do less.
Yea Optic is definitely conic AoE with the center being more concentrated damage.
It works like breath, and almost totally resets hate for anyone that gets hit. It's actually not a bad thing to get hit with as a mage, as long as you have stoneskin and someone to unpetrify you after.
Also, JoT seems to do 2 back-to-back with almost no charge-up animation when he is in blunt mode.
