No insult intended, just curious why people assume not having sex before meeting your "life partner" makes you a better person. When in fact all it really does is make sure you will experience the added drama of sexual tension in a relationship that could have gone w/o it.

Well, it also makes sure you won't risk making a baby or giving yourself herpes/warts/chlamydia/whatever. And depending on where you live, it might avoid alienating the religious majority. And then there's the double standard as mentioned above.

And "R U CEREAL" is just a meme really... I figured the thread would go downhill and wanted to get a headstart.

If the guy is rich probably, if the guy is poor but has a good personality maybe but will probably be put into the friendzone, if a guy is poor with a bad personality then odds are he will be with the same of the opposite sex.

It's beneficial to have sex before marriage. This includes having sex with your husband/wife before you are married. While it may cause jealousy for some to know that their chosen parnet for life isn't a virgin, if it bothers them that much, they probably are going to make one hell of a bad life partner and you'll deal with their insane jealousy forever.

People often say they don't wanna have sex before marriage because they don't want the 'relation to be all about sex.' Honestly, waiting on it makes it all that much more about sex. By the time you've been with someone for 2 years and decide to get married... when you're standing at the alter the guy isn't thinking about his vows... He's thinking that he's finally getting laid that night.

The tension in a long term relationship that comes as a result of not having sex results in both parties being incredibly horny and being full of frustration constantly. It makes sex ever more present on their mind.

However, having sex before you are married lets you focus on a lot more about the relationship instead. It's not about wanting to have sex. When sex is 'out of the way' so to speak you can enjoy the many other aspects of a realtionship and focus on those instead.

Otherwise, once your married and you're past the tension of having not had sex, you may find that you don't care as much to be with that person after having had all they have to offer.



My relationship with my wife is damn solid because we had sex and lived together before being married. We could enjoy our great sex life and could get used to each others annoying habits (something that only comes from living together) before we were married.

I think people who wait until they are married and put off living together until they are... are in for a bite of one hell of a fucking reality sandwich after the fact.

I managed not to have sex until I was 23, and I'm a smart, reasonably good looking, socially well-adjusted, college educated guy.

Looking back, I was a little bit too "nice" in my relationships. I was so caught up in not being a "typical asshole guy pushing his girlfriend for sex" that I think girls I dated got into a mindset of "well, if he's not pushing for it, he must not want it very badly." It was also a factor that for a 3 year span I managed to date nothing but girls who were themselves virgins, or girls who had been raped, which furthered my "I'd better be a nice guy" agenda. Once I did have sex, it kind of snowballed and I've done very "well for myself" in the past three years - that invisible wall was gone. People I meet now are shocked when they learned how long "I waited", which I chuckle at.

I never understood why one of the most popular religions to date is one that doesnt like sex. Are people THAT desperate for sexual repression? Or do people just like feeling naughty?
