Sex seems like it'll be nice and such but I'm not focusing on it, kinda like person above said, once I find the right person I'll enjoy sex as much as it happens with that person. And no other.. problem with me is that I'm sure I found such person and then dating, then my ex is all "relationships suck /emo" and childish mindset and other fun crap >.> blah..
I really doubt you can attribute divorce to having too much sex before marriage. The correlation would probably be: couples who do not have sex until marriage usually do so because of religious affiliations, which also condemn divorce.

    Actually this is a factor.

Sex is a major 'feature' to marriage, many people are in relationships just to have sex and sometimes get married to ensure their partner isnt with anyone else.

Ever hear people complaing about how the sex gets old after awhile? Those people are more likely to get a divorce because of it. For some of the people who wait till marriage, its a new thing and lasts longer and are less susceptible to getting a divorce just because of sex.

That makes no sense, sex gets old after 2-3 years, so if it was about sex, even for couples who wait, it would still get old 2-3 years into the marriage. Like i said, the correlation probably has to do with religion more than sex.

sorry elemmire >.> (HARDEST PART WAS SPELLING THE NAME!)

i think a lot of that mindset that "you need to do it more/now/8 years ago" is really bad >.> not imposing my views on anyone, and not expecting to change any minds, but i guess, just give the perspective of one person?

i dunno, personally, i cant make that bridge from "wouldnt fuck it at all" to "wouldnt fuck it, but if its easy, fuck it" that i see a lot of ppl (men lol) prescribe to. Holding out for relationships for girls of interest, but not turning down an opportunity with girls of (non? lol)interest. I just cant do that, just cant. Why would i say no in one situation, then say yes in another? I've had my share of creepy whore/stalkers that would be more than willing to do the act, but i always run in the opposite direction lol

it really disgusts me how people can tell me "you cant miss what you havent had" bullshit

[you filipinos out there will get this]

<Girl> Adobo is delicious, and I love adobo.
<Girl> I had adobo for the last 4 years and it was great.
<Girl> Now I dont have adobo, and I miss it.
    <Me> I want adobo too
<Girl> Its not the same, you've never had it, so you cant miss it!
<Me> IF ALL MY FRIENDS ARE HAVING ADOBO FOR THE PAST 4 YEARS (AND TELLING ME HOW GREAT IT IS) AND I'M THE ONLY ONE NOT GETTING ANY ADOBO, I'M PRETTY ANGRY/DEPRESSED THAT IM NOT GETTING ANY!
    <Girl> /laugh

that shit just tears me apart OH! and then ppl who are in relationships before college (lol highschool relationships, but still), then come to college disenchanted with the whole relationship deal, and fuck around -- then have the nerve to expect me to do the same, and have the same views! i really hate ppl -_- so much

    [more philosophy, /troll]

What im saying is couples who wait are more tolerable, they fall into the 'old fashioned' model and are willing to stick things out; rather than couples who dont take sex as an effection of love, etc, tend to divorce.

Ofcourse according to all of the lolstatistics, this doesnt apply to all cases. People are people and everyone is entitled to their own actions.

...so what you're saying is that if they have sex before marraige the rest of their 50+ years of marraige will be more boring?

But then again, what do i know, perhaps sex is some magical thing that bonds us together. (Then again, perhaps we are just animals and those who wait are just making excuses for their own shortcommings).
you seem to always jump to the conclusion that "if you havent had sex/enough sex you'll never satisfy anybody and nobody will like you/have the patience to help you learn"

i had always thought sex was about intimacy, and not just random tricks you learned to make your dick feel better

/fact: not everyone likes the same things, and not all your tricks are gonna feel good. Assuming people really do care about eachother, a shotty night in bed isnt gonna ruin a relationship (maybe if you refuse to change anything it will lol). Learning what one person likes/dislikes is part of getting to know someone new, whether in bed or not. "Experience" as you put it, would only lend to personal stamina? Learning to control yourself is something you can do on your own, even conceptually. If you feel the urge, pull out and move below the belt lol

(Sex [maybe just orgasm] releases hormones that bond ppl together >.>, same hormone [fairly sure] that is in high quantity when a woman gives birth [assumable to bond mother and infant])

OR MAYBE IM A STUPID VIRGIN lol

So you acknowledge the correlation has nothing to do with sex, but attitude/philosophy/values. Again, i really doubt having sex before marriage causes divorce, that was what i was saying.

Well.. yeah, I guess you can look at it that way too.

But with those attitude/philosophy/values also match with the people who have sex before and after marriage, along with the divorce rates to them.

I do tend to see the people who waited stay together longer, but the waiting is not the reason. Its an entire mindset. Those people are much less likely to get divorced, even if it makes their lives miserable to be with each other just because they are each other.

I considered my ex-fiancee hot. I couldn't find a good pic of her for the other thread and since we're not together anymore it's kinda hard for me to go "hey you have any hot pictures of yourself I can show people?". She was a XC runner, she had an amazing body.

And an even better looking (by "your standards") girl was interested in me junior year and I didn't bite. Loving the assumption that I think the way I do just because I'm a loser of some sort, though, thanks.

Pressure != beliving in it or the reason behind doing it. So that means nothing really, unless you can show proof that there are more people in the south who truly believe in abstinence and not just showing off for their mommy.

So I'll get the experience, she won't know what sex is like, nor will I. Guess what, WE'LL LEARN. I gave my ex-fiancee an orgasm with my fingers, I'm sure I'll manage while using my penis (an orgasm, not a climax...) You're talking as if the experience gained with random girls throughout the years is impossible to gain in the marriage. It's not, we'll make good use of the Honeymoon.

Yeah, we are just animals, what with our computers and internet and love and marriage, something all animals do! There's more to marriage than just sex, but sex will be a very sweet part of it for me.

Maybe because the couples that didn't have sex before marriage know how to love each other when sex isn't around? And when sex gets boring, they can easily fall back on that?

One thing about not having sex before marriage...

...some people just aren't compatible sexually.

What happens if you wait until the wedding night, and the body parts just don't fit together very well? What if 6 months in, the guy begins to realize that he really, really wants to start engaging in heavy bondage, and the wife is realizing that she could never give up control in that way.

What if she, honestly, doesn't want to do anything but standard missionary style forever?

"If you loved me you'd let me take you from behind" doesn't work very well in most relationships.

Sex is very specific, the way people can fit or not fit together physically, kink-wise, etc. is very specific, and some of these things you just aren't going to know unless you try. Having at least some sexual experience gives you an idea of not only what you like, but what is out there.

Edit: Eaglestrike - are you assuming the woman you fall in love with and want to marry will be a virgin? We're getting older now...virgins are very rare, and that's a really shitty expectation to have for a woman.

And couples who have sex before marriage don't? If you are marrying someone just because the sex is great, then you are marrying for the wrong reasons. You can still love someone and have sex with them before marriage. It's people who fuck a week after they meet, and get married 6 months later that are doomed to failure. Those are the people who are usually like "wow, this chick is hot, i need to marry her ASAP!" Just because you have sex before marriage doesn't mean your relationship is tainted. Ive been with my fiancee for about 6 years, sex got old after 2.

The reason people get married is because of love.

One partner doesnt want to do a specific position, there are two choices, either try to convince that person otherwise overtime or accept that they dont want to.

Sex is a big part of marriage, yes, but it shouldnt be a factor to get a divorce. And I think legally thats not a valid reason anyway.
