The official Nintendo cables are 30 bucks, mine are waiting for me at home currently :D
If you buy the 3rd party ones they are 60 bucks.
They have been on backorder for a while since Nintendo had no idea they would sell like they did.
I think you should be able to get one now.
And as far as the difference in graphics, I have seen screenshots of Zelda in regular, and then in 480p, and it is a huge difference, very worth it to pick up.

Yeah I didnt read all the topic, but basically it comes down to this. I'd pay $600 to play MGS 4. If you don't agree, you have no gaming soul.

If you think PS3 sales will plummet, I think you're wrong. Everyone who I know who DOESNT have a PS3, is merely waiting, and intends to buy one. Has nothing to do with not wanting one period, in the end, I believe alot of people will get one once the right games come out.

Intends to buy one WHEN THERE ARE GOOD GAMES.

I merely stated that until PS3 gets good titles, there is absolutely no point to dish out so much money for it.

By June, when DMC/MGS come out, the price on the premium system might even drop, and the PS3s would already be in their 2nd/3rd gens, and hopefully the backwards compatibility would be fixed... at that point, it would far more attractive to go ahead and purchase a PS3.

But those bundles I keep seeing everywhere, with all the companies trying to rip people off by making them buy all this ridiculous crap, is really frustrating... the PS3 isn't that good to justify paying 1.2k for a useless bundle, with a half-assed system, and no good titles except for Resistance.

Don't get me wrong, I love my PS2 and all the great games it has, but the PS3 just doesn't live up to it. Of course i'm going to purchase one when the right title comes along, but until then I don't see any reason that will justify paying this much for a console that will sit around in my room for months upon months until DMC/MGS/FF come out.

Until then, I have my 360 and Wii.

Gamestop doesn't seem to be selling them until January... but if it's possible to just buy it off Nintendo.com I guess i'll go ahead and do that.

And what's the point of the 3rd party ones then, if they can't make it anything better than a 480p resolution anyways? seems like a ripoff if anything to me.

Assuming that EGM rumor isn't completely false and Konami is heavily leaning on Hideo to release MGS4 for the 360 as well, what next?

Point being, if every major exclusive PS3 title starts being seen on 360 as well, what real point is there in paying for a PS3?

you think the gaming industry want the ps3 to fail and let 360 dictate the HD market? i mean let go of your fanboyism (either side) for a moment and think about this in a business perspective, does it really make sense?

umm, yes. No one wants Sony to be the driver of a new standard...no one.

Game companies go with whatever they see as being the most profitable.

Sure as hell doesn't make any sense for the movie industry to want multiple formats to exist at the same time.

They either have to spend more money creating discs for both systems, or lose out on an audience for the competing format.

I can tell you they sure as hell want a clear winner, but I doubt they honestly care which in the end.

again, college level economics (man have colleges stopped requiring people to take it now or something?), it has to do with marginal cost and marginal profit: it is because the market is imperfect and is in the direction to reach equilibrium while never getting there because of factors such as diversity that businesses--especially large corporations--can profit

"costumers are first pirority" is a slogen, not a truth... so while i don't disagree with you that having a single format is good for the consumers, it doesn't necessarily mean profit, and sometimes it even eliminates business options that would otherwise be avaliable during conflict--such as right now

edit: you know, speaking of format wars in the movie industry, i'm not a technical stuff guy but can't they make those new toys that would play both BD and HD-DVD? like how they did it for the +R and -R DVDs? since it's digital format and everything so it's not like vhs vs. betamax now... i mean if that's possible there might not really be a winner this time at all

The consumer has a lot more influence over the decision than the businesses.

I personally don't care if I'm watching a DVD, HD-DVD, or Blu-ray, so long as the studios I care about are supporting the format, and I can watch the movies I want to.

Every generation there has clearly been a winner. I don't see ANYBODY talking about their laserdiscs, their betamax, etc.

Which large corporations are we talking about here? I don't see how the movie industry benefits from releasing their movies onto formats that don't have a large market share.

where you get the whole thing wrong here is that it's not a "decision" to make one of the two the winner, but a economical outcome, because it's a business competition between multiple institutions, not a productivity competition within a single one

i can't really tell you "how the movie industry benefits from releasing their movies onto formats that don't have a large market share" on a single post, it's like asking me to teach you how people make money from depreciating stocks, why a bankrupt business can still be sold for good money, or where you can still find great profit from an invention's investment that has to be sold by infomercials that only appeal to less than 20% of the market... but that's what you get for paying that 500 bucks a credit when you go to college (just seems to me you haven't got there yet )

although the idea of marginal analysis/benefit is pretty simple and basic, you can go find it on wiki or somewhere else online if you really wanted to know

I don't see what the big deal is with this at all it's just a number they can release DQ10 on 360/PS3/wii tbh it's probably already in devolpment for something or other.

An economic outcome is the result of a multitude of decisions, on both the consumer and producer end. You're trying to apply what I said in the least relevent way possible to disregard it. The decision on which format emerges on top is, obviously, driven by money.

You're trying to overly complicate the issue with things that nobody here is really concerned about.

If the consumers don't buy a product, odds are, it'll stop being supported. Case in point, UMD movies have fallen very, very fast. Why? Lack of interest from the consumer has created lack of profit which went into lack of interest from the studios.

The fact that DQ8 was the best selling PS2 game ever, and Square shifting it from a Sony to Nintendo system for the sequel doesn't strike you as a big deal?

I care about the quality of video =( I love FFXII and I wish it wasn't in 480i, but I bought it anyway. Interlacing on a big screen is very noticable especially with highly detailed textures, like in FF12. I personally will buy any of the 3 consoles as long as their is a game on it that I think will make it worth it. Handhelds are different though, I can't even stand looking at my cellphone for longer than 5 minutes at a time.

Nope not really , I'm presuming Nintendo DS games take a lot less time to make than next-gen consoles so why not churn one out now and cash in?

As you said DQ8 is one of the biggest selling games in ps2 history so it make perfect sense to slap 9 on the end and cash in. It looks far removed from previous DQ numbered games(i.e 1-8)
