LV 6 troll besieged

Now, i did a search, could not find the answer.

Ok, so its a fact that the boss of LV 6 trolls, absorbs elemental magic, that heals him.

Now, alot of ppl say that drain is the only thing that really hurts him, and they say that because it doesn't say it gives him HP.

what id like to ask is. Has anyone ever tested him to see if drain heals him or not? Id think one way would be to have someone with spirits within and 3k+ hp have 300% tp. Wait for him to show up so hes yellow w/ no one on him. Engage, spirits him, which will take him to 99%, then have someone drain him. Which should instantly bring him either to 100% hp(i think it will), or he will stay 99% because it did dmg.

why deal dmg to him ??

if drain does dmg to him, it'll knock it to 99% HP, since 9999999999/10000000000 will register as 99%

Why bother trying to kill it? By the time you kill all the peons so they don't pick you off, they'll retreat. Focus on the non-NM's first.

Anway, as said, even if a mob has 10^1000000000 HP, doing 1 damage to it will show up as 99%. Getting everyone in the area to understand this and leave it alone til 1 desinated blm casts drain will be nearly immpossible. GL having that happen.

drain does not recover HP. If you notice when someone casts something like Dia, Thunder, etc, it says that "Assmunch Trollbagger regains 346 hit points!"

then again, Dia, Thunder, etc has a "blahblah takes 8323 points of damage" on other mobs. Drain doesn't.

If at full HP. Get whacked a bit, or use Giant's Drink to boost HP, then cast drain. That should give you an answer.

edit: and even if at full hp, it'll say drained for 0, but you'll still do damage. I spammed drain every time it was up to level dark... was the most mp efficient nuke too.

Pretty sure what he meant is if drain is curing him, you're not going to regain any hp after casting drain on him, nothing to do with the log.

Yes, it works. The lowest i've seen him on Gilgamesh is 70% in like 30 minutes of beating him with people draining and meleeing, and others keeping casting elemental when they're told not to.

having it at 70% when people are draining doesn't necessarily mean drain actually does damage. It could have been melee damage outdoing the healing effects of magic damage.

Considering what I've seen in besieged, I'm gonna say drain does heal it, but of course I have no hard proof. Then again I always do besieged as war or rdm/whm so it really doesn't matter to me.

Someone made a comment in Besieged yesterday about a RDM Chain-Draining, and it healing the Mega Boss. I wasn't around to check myself, though.

Been there, done said experiment, and the result was the monster recovered HP and I sure as heck didn't. Swapped over to a regular monster and got HP back just fine post-Convert.

Do not Drain this thing. It does jack and shit other than annoy people actually damaging the monster.

They should just go find one of the probably around 10 other enemies still left in the area because everyone is too busy trying to kill the HNM type enemies that pretty much never die, when they could just be killing the weak enemies to make besieged end faster. ;/
