So we kill it once just to say we did and don't go back for months, so it's up for anyone who wants a shot at it.
Adding fun, new HNMs that don't drop anything good, and then putting the good new gear on new battlegrounds that anyone can access at their leisure like Assault is a smart way to go, I think. The problem is--as other people have been saying--that they aren't adding new gear to Assault at the rate they ought to be. Maybe this Salvage will be different.
well i have rng and sam lved but i perfer to use it on sam/rng (considering im never on rng anymore too >_>)
Too bad not a single NA has attempted either of the 3 Beastmen kings on Siren besides us. (correct me if Im wrong anyone) I'd rather have one or 2 or 3 LSes "monopolizing" an HNM with useful drops than have a mob like Hydra where NOONE kills him.Originally Posted by Suiram
Well, that could also have something to do with the 3 ToAU kings being a complete pain in the ass to get to lol
EXACTLY. The last thing I want is another 3-7 day HNM that becomes monopolized by the 2-3 LS's on our server who have players available 24/7 and who are always at Tiamat or Cerberus within 30 minutes of it popping, regardless of the time of day. Hydra and Jormy are nice right now even though they drop crap, because more casual endgame LS's can schedule those fights on their own time when members are available rather than having their play times dictated by SE's repop timers. More instanced fights would be awesome too, stuff like KS99's and Ouryu/Bahamut v2.You could look at the Hydra/ToAU Kings thing from another perspective. I kinda like the FFXI system for armor and drops. I think the feeling of progress is actually greater if you don't toss all your gear after 2 months. FFXI has the job system and gear switch system to support it but they partly waste it.
Cerberus and Tiamat are good examples of the system working as it should. Jorm and Hydra are examples of wasted potential. And all those wasted HNMs lead to crowding at the good HNMs which makes the good HNMs lame as well.

Get better at the game, has nothing to do with "having a bunch of members who can be on 24/7" Go to the Cerberus topic below and watch people kill with 9-12. If you dont have 10 people online when Cerberus pops and cant claim him, then you have bigger issues than just casually wanting to fight an HNM. Don't fault the people who have the skill to claim and kill these things. You'd do the same if you could.

I'm mostly playing devil's advocate here, since I'm in one of those LSs that 'monopolizes' HNMs like Tiamat and Cerberus, but in general being able to small-man them is something that people who have already had plenty of experience killing them do. A LS that isn't driven to go after HNMs as a part of their daily routine doesn't get a crack at killing them, let alone the experience needed to understand how to do them with fewer numbers, even if they would be otherwise capable of doing it easily with sufficient practice.
To me, it's completely irrelevant if they add high-demand 3-7 day nms or not. If they don't add them, nothing changes for me. If the do add them, haijin ls or gil sellers will have a mule camping the repop 24/7, and still nothing changes for me.
If they want to add content that hits the broadest amount of endgame players, both casual and hardcore, they should aim for content that is:
1) accessible to everyone at a scheduleable time--don't require SM+ rank, because most people aren't even past SP. Make it SP (or LC to encourage rank-ups)
2) targetted towards a proficient group of 6 people -- doable with less if the group is particularly well-oriented for the task
3) doable with up to a full alliance simultaneously (bonus points if the difficulty/reward scales, so that you aren't penalized much for having more people)
4) rewards people with a point/coin system, so that people don't have to struggle against abysmal drop-rates, but at the same time the production rate of the best rewards is moderate.
5) Target length is 1-2 hours per "run".
Sound familiar? Limbus...Assault...Dynamis...all of these activities strive towards these points (some better than others)
JSEs are exclusive, rng still dont have a real one

I dont see them camp kings, because theres nothing to really make much money from them. Gil sellers dont camp Hydra or Cerberus either, so if they added good Rae/ex gear like with any of the king types, i doubt they would suddenly flock to these hnms either.
Id rather have a little competition, then having useless HNM that drop crap, so that NO ONE even bothers. When they COULD add new HNMs, with good drops, and thus spreading out Pop times, and spreading out the players accross several new HNm instead if the same 3.
So no I cant look at new HNMs with terrible drops, so that they sit of for hours, because no one cares.
Screw all this HNM and JSE crap. I want to know more about this "piping-hot Far Eastern soup." The new Red Curry??? OMG
AoE Red Curry. Splash a little on your party members and they, too, gain the effects of +20% attack!Originally Posted by miokomioko
