um, how is this not serious cockblockage? You need to have items dropped from mobs most ls never get to fight anyway to be able to fight another version of it? This just sounds like the rich/botters get richer and the poor still dont get to fight kings...
They can always use non rare/ex unique drops, so they don't have to kill the HNM themselves. They can just buy, say, a Balmung and pop HQ2 Fafhogg.

Or, alternatively, only make the ??? for the respective HNM in the underworld appear during their window on the overworld.

Beat Cerebus to enter the Underworld, of course (as a key item that poofs on entry). Like in a lot of FF games, you'd see places much like the world above, and burial grounds for different kinds of monsters and the character races. Certain areas would require having completed an mission/expansion to enter.

Here and there through the place, there would be ??? spots where you could make an offering- sacrificing a specific item (or a choice of a few) to call the dead. They'd have to be a unique item specific to the monster- like Byakko's Axe or Haidate (either) for Byakko, or a Comet Tail/Thundercloud for Behemoth/King Behemoth (random chance for either), or a Daylight Dagger for Tzee Xicu, etc. This would spawn the HNM aggroed and claimed for the alliance that called it, a normal fight would occur, and drops would be identical to the living original monster.

The kicker? There's a chance a HQ2, unique version of the monster appears instead, which drops abjuration-style upgrades to the gear the NQ or HQ version of the monster normally coughs up. If there are multiple items that can be sacrificed, there may be one with has a higher chance of spawning this version- so if you take on Byakko, the Axe is a lower chance, the Haidate a higher one of calling up Ancient Byakko (not a real name) instead of Byakko...who drops the regular Byakko loot but instead of Axe/Haidate, drops items that will synth with them to create a superior version (that CANNOT be used to respawn the monster in question).

ToAU makes all the HNMLS'es happy, people get their instanced HNM battles and tougher fights, and the world is saved for democracy.
Someone make this explanation into a graphic, then send it to Bercus. :D

I didn't read it, but I think SE likes information in picture form rather than word form.

Only if done in SE's typical format of using an image totally unrelated to the context, and twisting it around to somehow explain your concept.

If a Balmung can pop a Fafhogg, what LS in their right mind would sell one? All this would do would be to let the LSs that currently claim these NMs be able to do so (kill them) more often.

    Almost a winner.

Needs Hauberk(+1) and Adaberk / Scorpion Harness, Gavial Mail, and Hydra Mail next to each other. SE seems to forget how much of an upgrade RoZ stuff is from the next-best. We don't want two items merged into one, we want the first item made better.

Yes yes yes, low postcount and all that, just never have a reason to post.

Yeah the pop conditions for Zikko totally rock. SE needs more 'trap' NMs, if you will. It really brings out the notorious nature, you know?

Here's an idea, how about an NM Poroggo that pops if you're a Taru somewhere in Wajaom. Race traps ftw.
