In WoW Molten Core, for example, is completely obsolete now as well. In FFXI the content is actually still worthwhile 3 years later.

    Its just different design choices
Only because the content in the past 2 expansions havnt been "that" fantastic. So yea the content from RoZ would be better by default, if content from COP, and ToAu wasnt superior, which its not. Like i said, i still have fun, and i play all the time, but how about something new to lust after SE? I dont think thats too much to ask for.

Client receives data from server, there is no difference what platform it's on. As for rendering something, they don't have to match the models for all platforms, they probably already don't (well for mod switchers they don't). So limitations graphics wise is just laziness on their part.

Think Subspace / Continuum both clients could connect on the same server but continuum could re-skin everything from additional data it acquired from the server.

Anyways... yeah... the new armor looks nice. Most post CoP armor seems more detailed than Zilart and pre.

CoP wyrm crafts, Limbus set, Assault stuff etc...

The spelling nazi in me longed to fix this, but I refrain.

You've never sat there grinding an instance repeatedly for something, I assume? Tossed people through the same raid over and over again to kit up folks so you can repeat the process with the next one?

Honestly, I can think of one simple method to make people happy.

Make AF2 pieces buyable with currency along with the usual odd drops. People either hoard bills and such for their pieces or pray they get one to drop, or use a purchased piece to fill in for the one that just won't show up for them. AP purchases for Assault gear works. Dynamis currency for Dynamis armor drops would too.
Ah, you just said it right there, grinding an instance, whether its grinding, i get the CHANCE to get whatever. Its not 3 hours of sitting around not to get to fight, Limbus and Assault have the same basic idea as raids, Ive been doing limbus since it came out, i took a break, but started up again last month. I STILL have fun with it. Sure Omega, and Ultima want to be hoes, and not drop the equip that i want lol. But you know what? Im having fun "doing something".

AF+1 items drop on a regular basis, sure some are rare, but things drop, (time vs reward) Omega and ultima WILL drop body parts for nice gear, whether its the body parts I want is another story, but i get to fight, I get to have some fun. Limbus, and Assault is nothing BUT grinding the same areas over and over to get to the next section. But thats far more fun then fighting a big HNM like tiamet 5 times now, and only getting a crystal... or spending hours upon hours in sea gathering pop items, only to kill a NM who didnt even drop the pop item you needed for the next one. Sea has horrid drop rates. So it becomes more work then fun.

But yea, i dont play wow enough, cause i prefer the gameplay, graphics, special effects, and animation of FFXI. So my friends Raid all the time. And a lot of them ARE former FFXI players, and they all feel WoW while beinga time sink, is LESS of one then FFXI. And tehy feel they can log in, have fun, and log out.

As far as your Dynamis idea, i think teh easier choice would be to have Relic drop at a better rate. Have you ever done Beaucedine, or any zone and not had a SINGLE AF drop? Thats not fun That would be easier then having to deal with currency, which i think would turn into a mess

FFX had low and high polygon count models for use in different situations similiar to how the PS2 vs PC models could work. Low polygon models were used for running around in game etc and high quality was used in Cutscenes and closeups. It's not a concept entirely foreign to SE.

Maybe since they announced that "most wanted 2" list this means they are ADDINg good drops from hydra? While theyre at it, how about better drops from cerberus too? Cerberus mantle is nice, Agol is eh, but what about actual armor or something? Or a better weapon?

A little pessimistic, but closer to reality.

I think the CoP team kidnapped the creative dev team (the ones who made Zilart, Limbus, and the first part of the ToAU expansion) and locked them up in the secret underwater volcanic headquarters. The prospect of players having fun frightens the CoP team, they will stop it at any cost.

If only they would put half as much effort into the stats on the armor as they do in the graphic details.

Don't bash Hydra just yet, Behemoth Hides only made 1 thing when they first came out.

True, but there were so few people at end-game levels back then that it didn't matter.

There are many trivial solutions to that. It's done in a lot of games already.

You do know that SE is one of the most successful game making companies in the world and have made one of the most successful MMORPGs ever, and has done it on 3 distinctly different platforms in multiple languages, something Blizzard said was too difficult/impossible to do. FFXI is probably the most intensive game ever on the PS2 and really does push it to the limit, far beyond what any other company has managed to do. You CAN'T give them too much credit for what they've done, the problem is that since making the game, aside from the 360 port, they've pretty much sat with their thumbs up their ass doing next to nothing.

    So absolutely true.

The thing that baffles is that they could still do SO much with so little effort on their part.

Hell, they can reuse a crapload of textures and models in this game without having to find ways of making all of these new skins and completely ignoring the stat/usefulness aspect.

Looking at the AH list of any particular armor slot, there's SO many wasted/useless items on the AH. Why not create new items that use the same models as some of the pieces of armor that seriously never get seen/made? Create a crapload more HNM's that are just resized models of the ones we have ingame?

So much wasted potential, it's saddening.

Despite turning a deaf ear to 90% of the player base for the last 2 years who were spouting off ideas that could've improved who-knows-how-many different aspects of the game, yes, you're right! Their game is incredible.

They've already shunned a bunch of things that could make the game "better" due to PS2 limitations, and adding in flashier gear with a potentially simple fix is just too much for them to handle. I would be more than happy to see them prove me wrong, though.

On the question of AF2 being recolored AF:

There is a storyline reason why this is so. AF2/relic was AF enhanced by master crafters during the Great War to augment the wearer's abilities. Why then would PUP, COR, and BLU follow this logic at all? They can and will probably be something different. I am surprised no one has said this.

BTW Has anyone actually SEEN a player with the Corslet or that SAM JSE since the last update lol GG SE
