I played RPG Maker 2000 when it came out for PC way back when, and got bored recently and decided to play with it again.

I figured some of yall could get bored and want something to do, so I made a torrent for it.

Everytime I tried starting one up on RPG Maker 3 on the PS2 I got pissed, because it takes like 2MB of space on the memory card...

rm2k used to have a cult following i used to play with this a lot, and i was really good with it (remember idraw?) and making sprites. i made some custom battle systems (side view) and custom UI menus that were nice, especially for my age and lack of programming knowledge.

I downloaded RPG Maker XP recently, but it went back to the crappy Dragon Quest style combat system, which felt like a step back after getting the FF style system in 2k3.

I remember those, I've always wanted to go back and do something on XP sometime (and actually finish what I started for once <_<). RSS was the first time I'd actually worked with anything resembling real programming (considering "programming" custom stuff on RM2k doesn't really count <_<;)

actually a buddy and I were making a game with this and we got pretty far with it, but the thing was we were using the NetPlay server so it could basically be an MMO, we had a nicely script UI and etc and were gonna put the best of both worlds from FFXI and WoW, but its so hard doing everything with two people =_=

oh man XD I still have these on my computer. Though sitting there doing nothing I loved it. I just really wished I coulda made my own graphics, except I sucked at it and ya.. graphics were rather too limited XD

In the XP version, you can really do whatever you want to; as long as you know how to program in Ruby.

XP is pretty versatile, yeah. And even if you don't know how to program yourself you can usually find a script someone else has made that does what you want. I'm working on a game for my LS right now just for fun. rmxp.org has a scripts section with all sorts of stuff including things like a FF-style battle system with optional addons for all sorts of things including Limit Breaks and even something akin to Skillchains.

I used to mess around with 2k and 2k3 but I'd always run into some sort of limitation that would just kill my desire to continue. ><
